Twelve ✝️

(Tyler's pov)

I brought Josh into the my room after we got upstairs. When he saw it, he was very surprised by how it looked, especially when he saw my bedroom altar.

"What do you think?" I asked.

"It's very nice." He replied. "I don't have a bedroom altar myself."

"You don't?"

"No, I never really got the chance to make one. My family are strong Catholics, but we can't afford to make more than one altar."

I placed my hand on Josh's shoulder.

"Maybe, when you start to believe in what I'm going to teach you, I can help you make your own bedroom altar."

"You can?"

"Of course."

Josh gave me the biggest hug. It sort of startled me, but I loved every moment of it.

"Tyler, I'm so happy we met. I can't wait to rededicate myself to salvation."

"And I look forward to helping you get there."

As he was hugging me, he noticed a picture sitting by my bedside next to my single blessed candle with my Catholic bible beside it.

"Tyler, what is that picture you have there."

I turned to see what he was talking about.

"Oh, that's my picture of Madonna and her child. My aunt gave it to my mother as a baby shower gift."

"It's beautiful."

"You think so?"

"Yeah, although my favorite pictures were of St. Jude or St. Augustine."

"Are they your favorite saints?"

Josh got confused.

"They're saints?"

"Yes."

"What is a saint?"

"A saint is someone who is an inspiration or an example of what we believe in. We pray for them to give us guidance and to lead us to God. But we never worship them, we honor them because God honored them first."

"Like St. Jude and St. Augustine?"

"Exactly."

Josh smiled.

"Wow! I just learned something about the Catholics!"

I smiled back.

"Yes, but we got a lot more to go."

Josh got really excited.

"Tell me, what's the first thing your going to teach me?"

"Well, the first thing I'm going to teach you is the sign of the cross."

"How do you do that?"

"Let me show you."

I went over and sat down on my bed. Josh sat in front of me.

"Before we start, I want to tell you why we do the sign of the cross."

"Why do we do the sign of the cross?"

"It's important we do it before praying, and how we can talk to God so he can bless us on what we do or say."

"How do you do the sign of the cross?"

"The first thing you do is take your only right hand and put it on your forehead, and you say, in the name of the Father. Then you go down to your chest and say, and of the Son. Then touch your left shoulder and your right shoulder and say, and of the Holy Spirit."

"I see." Josh said.

"Now you try."

Josh repeated exactly what I showed him."

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."

He did it perfectly.

"There! You did it!"

"I did?"

"Yeah! That was perfect!"

Josh started jumping up and down on my bed.

"I can't believe it! I did something right! I'm learning!"

He hugged me again.

"Tyler I love you!"
