Seventeen ✝️
(Josh's pov)
We walked back into Tyler's room. The first thing I did was hop on his bed. When he saw the way I was laying on it, he smiled and giggled.
"You really like me bed don't you?"
"I do a lot." I replied. "My bed in my room is dirty and pretty gross."
He got on the bed and laid next to me."
"Maybe I can come over sometime and help you clean it. Would you like that?"
I smiled at him.
"Yes."
We both laughed and embraced each other, but Tyler let go shortly after. He sat back up.
"Alright, let's get to our lesson."
"And what will it be?" I asked.
"We're gonna be learning the rosary."
When He said it, he pulled out his very own rosary that he got for himself.
When I saw it, I thought it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Each bead looked so gorgeous and it represented our religion very well.
"This is what a rosary looks like." Tyler started. "It's the most important prayer to learn, especially when you pray to Mother Mary."
"How do you pray it?" I asked.
"First, you start with the cross." He said as he held it up. "You do the sign of the cross, then you say the apostles creed."
"How do you say it?"
"This is how you say the apostles creed."
He closed his yes and held the cross to his chest.
"I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he descended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty, from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen."
When he finished. I smiled.
"That was really good."
"Thank you, but there's more."
"What's next?"
"On the first bead, you pray the Our Father. Which I think you know pretty well."
"I do." I told him. "Because I've heard it so many times."
"That's good, but on the second, third, and fourth bead, you pray 3 Hail Marys for each of them."
"How does that go?" I asked.
"This is how you pray Hail Mary."
He closed his eyes and began the prayer.
"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen."
"That was good." I told him.
"You repeat it three times, then on the next bead, you say the Glory Be prayer. Then you announce the first mystery. Once you say that, you pray the Our Father again. Then on the next set of beads, you pray 10 Hail Marys for each of them."
"10 Hail Marys?!"
"Unfortunately yes." Tyler said.
"Why 10?"
"I don't know. Ask Pope Francis."
I chuckled.
"Nice one."
Tyler smiled.
"Once you say the 10 Hail Marys, you say Glory Be prayer again, then announce the second mystery. Then pray the Our Father again and repeat the 10 Hail Marys."
"You do this for the third and fourth mystery?" I asked.
"That's right!" Tyler cried. "How did you know?"
"I used to watch my mom and dad pray the rosary when I was little."
"You are right. You pray 10 Hail Marys again, Glory Be, announce the third mystery, pray the Our Father, then repeat for the fourth and fifth mystery. But when you finish the fifth mystery, you pray the Hail Holy Queen."
"How do you do that?" I asked.
"This is how you pray the Hail Holy Queen."
He closed his eyes and began the prayer.
"Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, our hope. To thee we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us O Holy Mother of God; that we may be made worthy of promises of Christ. Amen."
I smiled when he finished the prayer.
"And that is how you pray the rosary."
"Wow." I said. "That's the most amazing thing I've ever learned."
"I hope you can start doing it on your own." Tyler said.
I smiled and looked into his beautiful eyes.
"Me too."
