Seven ✝️
(Josh's pov)
Finally! Mass is over! I hope mom doesn't tell me when we have to come back because I don't want to. This religion is driving me the depths of hell!
As soon as the priest dismissed us, mom was told to go speak with a few members of the church so we stayed seated. My younger siblings read through their prayer books to practice, while I kicked my feet against the rows.
A few people got on to me for it, but I didn't care. I'm a proud atheist and I will stay that way forever.
(Tyler's pov)
After Mass ended, my mother wanted us to leave early, but I asked her if we could stay a little longer, and she agreed.
She and my father went to go talk to some friends of the church, and my younger siblings talked to a few of their friends. I decided to open up my prayer book and read through it a bit.
After we come home from Mass, we are expected to recite a prayer from the book, and I was to have one of the Fatima prayers memorized. I chose to recite The Angel's Prayer.
(Josh's pov)
As I sat and hit the rows, I found myself looking at the gorgeous devil's boy. I saw how he was reading through his prayer book like a stupid Catholic does.
He's so disgusting, even though he's a boys dream come true.
It seemed like I was really interested in him, but I ain't. He's a devil's prince, a disease, an evil figure from the lakes of fire.
I hate him.
(Tyler's pov)
That cute boy. I wonder why he's so grim and not happy. My mind told me to forget about reciting a Fatima prayer and go talk to him.
So I did.
When I went to sit with him, he flinched.
"It's ok, I'm not gonna-"
"Go away!" He shouted. "You're evil and mean!"
"No I'm not, I'm good."
"No you ain't. You're just like them. Every Catholic is evil."
"Who told you that?"
The boy sighed, looking down to the floor.
"I don't know."
"You must be mixed up with something."
"Am I?"
"Of course, and I can help you fix it."
The boy scoffed.
"Why should I trust a Christian worshiper?"
"Because its a good choice."
"Is it? Because Christians are psychotic and disgusting, especially Catholics like you."
"Are you a Catholic?" I asked.
"No, I'm an atheist, but my family is."
When he said that, it broke my heart.
"If your an atheist, then why do you come to Mass?"
"Because my family forces me to come. They tried to get me into confirmation, but I got expelled because I got caught writing disgusting letters about how evil Catholics were."
"Maybe I can help you change your mind. My parents told there's no hope for atheists, but I feel there is some hope for you."
I handed him a sticky note with my number on it.
"Give me a call sometime, and I'll get you started on coming back to salvation."
(Josh's pov)
The boy's mother called him back to see her. He waved goodbye to me.
"Wait!" I cried.
He turned back to me.
"I didn't get your name."
The boy smiled.
"Tyler."
I smiled a little bit back to him.
"I'm Josh."
"That's a pretty name! I'll remember that!"
I watched him leave the church. I started to regret my decision to trust him, but started to think that maybe this could help me.
Maybe I can become a good Catholic.
