"Growl! Growl!" Growlie said

"Growlie? What's up?" Ash said

"Growl! Growl! Growl!" Growl barked in panic

"Slow down, what's the matter?" Meowth said

"Growl! Growl!" Growlie said as he ran off

"What's wrong with Growlie?" Misty said

"I don't know, but I've a feeling it's not good." Ash said

They followed Growlie to the house & saw Delia, James, & Jessie. They also saw a formally dressed man & two formally dressed women

"Who are they?" Tracey said

"That's James' parents & Ex-Fiancé." Ash said

"So, this is where you've been hiding." Jessiebelle said

"What are you all doing here?" James glared

"We have come to take you home, so you can marry Jessiebelle." Ivanna said

"How many times do I have to tell you, I don't wanna marry her." James said irritatingly

"James, we have had enough of this rebellion, you are going to marry Jessiebelle whether you like it or not." Harrison scolded

"& I told you no, don't you two realize that once I marry her, I will have to release Growlie & replace him?" James argued

"Sometimes sacrifices have to be made." Harrison said

"Sacrifice!? Is that what you think of my Growlie!?" James yelled angrily

"It's what's best for the family." Ivanna said

"See, this is exactly why I joined Team Rocket in the first place." James said

"You joined what!?" Ivanna exclaimed shockingly

"James, how could you join a terrible organization such as Team Rocket?" Harrison said

"It's because of you two!" James snapped

"What!?" Both exclaimed

"You two always forced me into things I didn't wanna do while I was growing up & you do what's best for you & not for me. You didn't think or care about what I wanted, it was always what you wanted. That's why I ran away & joined Team Rocket, so I could be free from you & live my life." James said

"How dare you blame us for your misdeeds." Harrison scowled

"Well, when it comes to you two being my parents, you never raised me properly. Luckily, me & my partner Jessie quit Team Rocket thanks to Delia here, she took us in when we had nowhere to go. At least, Nanny & Pop Pop are like real parents to me & sometimes I wished I was raised by them instead of you!" James said

"Enough of this, I guess I'm going to have to force you to come back with & marry me." Jessiebelle said

"Hold on." Ash said as he went to James' side

"Hm? You again?" Jessiebelle said

"You're not forcing anybody to do anything." Ash said

"Young man, this is a family matter, it has nothing to do with you." Harrison said

"That's right, so stay out of this." Ivanna demanded

"No, I don't care if it's a family matter, I won't let you keep doing this to James." Ash glared "After hearing the full story of James' past, it's no wonder why he joined Team Rocket, you two are the worst parents I've ever seen."

"Why you little—." Ivanna growled

"Easy Ivanna." Jessiebelle said before looking at Ash "Alright boy, how about we settle this with a Pokémon battle, if I win, you hand over James to us."

"Fine, but if I win, you leave James alone & let him live his own life." Ash said

"Then it's a deal." Jessiebelle said as she pulled out a Poké Ball "Go my darling Vileplume."

Jessiebelle sent out her Vileplume

"Vile." Vileplume said

"Ash, do you know what you're doing?" Jessie asked

"Yeah, this isn't just any Pokémon battle, it's a bet battle." Misty said

"She's right, you know what's gonna happen if you lose." Brock said

"Ash, let me battle her, please." James said

"No, it's about time someone stood up for you, James." Ash said before looking at James' parents & Jessiebelle "Besides, these three need to stop living your life."

"Are you sure?" James said

"Yes, I need you to trust me on this, okay?" Ash said

"...Okay." James said

"Meowth, let's do this." Ash said

"Eh? Me?" Meowth said surprisingly

"Yeah, this'll be your first battle." Ash said

"But, what if I'm not good?" Meowth said

"I know you're gonna do great, remember, we've been training for the moment we get to battle with each other. We're not battling for victory, we're battling for a friend, so just do your best, alright?" Ash said

Meowth stared at Ash before smiling.

"Right." Meowth said in determination

"Okay, Meowth, I choose you." Ash said as Meowth stepped forward

"Do your best Meowth." Misty cheered

"We're rooting for you." Brock encouraged

"Ready?" Ash said

"Ready." Meowth nodded

"Meowth, use Fake Out." Ash said. Meowth clapped his hands together sending a shockwave & hit Vileplume

"Ha! What a weak attack." Jessiebelle said amusingly "Vileplume, use Stun Spore."

"Vile." Vileplume flinched

"Vileplume?" Jessiebelle said confusingly

"Sorry to burst your bubble, but Fake Out makes the opponent flinch only once, which means I get to call the next attack." Ash said "Use Aerial Ace."

"Ready for take off!" Meowth said as he became surrounded by white streaks & tackle Vileplume

"Nailed it." Misty said excitedly

"Aerial Ace is a Flying Type move & it's perfect against Grass Types like Vileplume." Tracey said

"Vileplume, use Stun Spore." Jessiebelle said.

"Plume." Vileplume said as it released orange sparkling powder from its flower

"Icy Wind." Ash said

"Chill." Meowth said before releasing a wind with light blue sparkles in it from his mouth which blew away the Stun Spore & hit Vileplume

"Use Sludge Bomb." Jessiebelle said. Vileplume fired multiple brown globs of sludge from its flower & hit Meowth

"You alright?" Ash asked as Meowth shook it off

"Peachy keen." Meowth said

"Then use Screech." Ash said

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!" Meowth screeched as white shockwaves came out of its mouth

"Use Razor Leaf." Jessiebelle said as Vileplume fired multiple green glowing leaves

"Double Team." Ash said. Meowth glowed white, created multiple copies of himself & avoided the attack

"Petal Dance." Jessiebelle said. Vileplume Gloom spun around, released bright glowing pink petals, & hit Meowth & his copies

"Now, let's finish it with Solar Beam."

"Vile." Vileplume said as its flower glowed faint yellow

"Get ready for it, Meowth." Ash said

"Right." Meowth nodded

"Plume!" Vileplume said as it fired a yellow beam of energy.

"Use Dig." Ash said as Meowth dug underground & avoided the attack

"What!?" Jessiebelle exclaimed shockingly

"Now, let's end this, use Cut." Ash said

Meowth came out of the ground behind Vileplume, then a blade of white energy formed in his hand, & slashed Vileplume with it causing it to faint

"No." Ivanna said shockingly

"It can't be." Harrison said shockingly

"I...lost..." Jessiebelle said

"You did it, Meowth, you won your first battle." Ash said.

"I did?" Meowth said

"Yeah, I knew you could do it." Ash smiled

"Hm, that's right!" Meowth smiled with a wink & a thumbs up

"Guess the training really paid off." Jessie smiled

"Thank goodness they won." James said in relief

"Well, I won the battle, will you keep your part of the deal?" Ash said to Jessiebelle

"...No." Jessiebelle as she pulled out her whip which shocked the gang, Jessie, James, Delia, & Meowth

"Hey, what do you think you're doing!?" Ash said in alert

"I refuse to be defeated by a brat like you!" Jessiebelle snapped as she swung her whip towards Ash.

"ASH!" Jessie, James, & Meowth shouted as they shielded Ash

SNAP!

None of them felt any pain which was confusing to them, they looked & saw Charizard with the end of the whip wrapped around his wrist

"Charizard." Ash said

"Rargh." Charizard said

Suddenly the whip was cut in half by a Razor Leaf, they looked & saw Ash's first Bulbasaur

"Bulbasaur." Ash said

"Bulba!" Bulbasaur said

Then Jessiebelle was blasted by a Hydro Pump, they looked & saw Ash's first Squirtle

"Squirtle." Ash said

"Squirt!" Squirtle said

Then the Pokémon that met & knew Jessie, James, & Meowth came to their side

"What are you all doing here?" Jessie asked

"Rargh Rargh." Charizard said

"Charizard said that they came to protect us." Meowth translated

"But why, after what we did & tried to do to you." James said

"Free Free." Butterfree said

"Butterfree said what we did is all in the past & we've earned their forgiveness." Meowth said

"My hair!" Jessiebelle cried as she was soaking wet "Grrrr, you'll pay for this!"

"ENOUGH!" A voice shouted

Everyone looked & saw an old man & an old woman with Officer Jenny & a few police officers

"Nanny. Pop Pop." James said surprisingly

"We have heard & seen everything, this has gone far enough." Pop Pop said

"Mother, Father, let us explain." Harrison said

"There is no need to explain." Nanny said before turning to Jessiebelle & scowled "Jessiebelle, at first, we supported the idea of you marrying our grandson, but after opening our eyes to see what kind of person you are, we're beginning to have second thoughts."

"Harrison, how could you do this to your own son, we never raised you to be this way & because of you & your wife, you drove your son, our grandson into joining a criminal organization that steals peoples' Pokémon for a living." Pop Pop scolded

"But father—." Harrison said

"No buts, Officer, if you please." Pop Pop said

"Jessiebelle, you're under arrest for attempted assault." Jenny said as Jessiebelle was cuffed

"What! You can't arrest me! Do you know who I am?!" Jessiebelle said as she was taken away

"Officer, I would like to place a restraining order against her & my parents." James said

"WHAT!?" James' parents exclaimed shockingly

"Consider it done, James." Jenny said

"James, why are you doing this?" Ivanna asked

"It's over you two, you've lost the battle & we won fair & square, so just leave us alone & never come back or else there will be consequences." James warned

"Fine, consider yourself completely disowned from this family." Harrison scowled

"I already disowned myself from the family the moment I left, the only ones I still consider my family are Nanny & Pop Pop." James said with a slight glare

After James' parents left & Jessiebelle was arrested

"James, we are so sorry for what you went through, we had no idea Jessiebelle was that type of person." Nanny said

"It's alright Nanny, it's all over." James said

"Boy, what's your name?" Pop Pop asked Ash

"Oh, I'm Ash, Ash Ketchum." Ash said

"Ash, thank you so much for standing for our grandson." Pop Pop said

"No problem." Ash said

"& we should thank you for getting James to quit Team Rocket, Delia." Nanny said

"You're welcome." Delia smiled

"James, how would you like to move in with us? Now that you're free from your parents, you can make your own decisions & live your own life. What do you say?" Pop Pop said

Ash stared at them for a moment, then he looked down, he was feeling kind of sad since he helped James his freedom, a part of him didn't want him to leave & he felt like he needed him but he knew it wasn't right to keep him from his freedom.

"I'm sorry, Nanny & Pop Pop, but I'm gonna have to decline your offer." James said much to Ash's surprise

"Are you sure?" Pop Pop asked

"Yes, I believe I have found where I belong, this has been feeling like home for the past couple of months & I feel like I'm needed here." James said

"We understand." Nanny smiled along with Pop Pop "Feel free to visit us anytime."

"& before we go, we want you to have this." Pop Pop said as he pulled out a Poké Ball & sent out a small pink & blue clown-like Pokémon with a red nose

"Mime." The Pokémon said

"Who's that Pokémon?" Ash said as he pulled out his Pokédex

Mime Jr., the Mime Pokémon, & the pre-evolved form of Mr. Mime, It habitually mimics foes. Once mimicked, the foe cannot take its eyes off this Pokémon.

"Wow, the pre-evolved form of Mr. Mime." Tracey said in amazement

"Mime Mime." Mime Jr. said as it jumped into James' arms

"Thank you, Nanny & Pop Pop." James said

After Nanny & Pop Pop left

"James, do you wanna stay here?" Ash asked

"Well, it depends, do you want me to leave?" James asked

"I...uh..." Ash said sheepishly

"It's alright Ash, you, Jessie, & Delia are more like a family to me than my parents ever were." James said

"Thanks James." Ash said as he hugged him while everyone smiled
