"I'm asking everyone for silence. " Aizawa said, class 1-A teacher. "Mineta, hide that newspaper." He pointed to the student who fulfilled his request after a while. "Please take your seats..." Ordered and then sighed heavily. "Since we're all here ... "
"Um, Aizawa-sensei ...? " Kirishima interjected so teacher looked at him. "Not everyone, Rachel is missing. " He said.
"I know. " He replied then sighed again. "I called you eariler without her knowing. " Said, which surprised the others.
"Why? " Midoriya asked.
"Something happened? " Urarak asked.
"Yes. " Teacher nodded. "Yesterday evening... Rachel's brother died. " He said, and Kirishima and Bakugou exchanged shocking looks. "I asked you to come earlier, because I wanted to have a few words with you. It'll be a very difficult time for Rachel so I ask you to support her, not only as classmates, but also close friends... Let her know that she's not alone. That's why Mineta..." He looked at him again. "Please refrain from any dirty texts." He shook his head. "That's it for now. " Added and left the class, leaving the shocked students alone.
Kirishma got up and walked over to Bakugou.
"But Ray-chan said his treatment was resumed." He said in a whisper to an equally surprised friend. "What could have happened ...? What do you think? " He looked at his friend.
"Maybe it wasn't what we thought. " He replied and then sighed heavily.
"You're suggesting something? That the treatment didn't help? " He asked.
"If there was any treatment at all. " Katsuki looked at his companion.
"But Ray-chan said ... "
"She might not have known about it herself. " Bakugou interrupted him. "After all, she cared about her brother, if she knew about it ... "
"She wouldn't let that happen. " Eijiro finished for his friend. "Poor Ray-chan, she sure is devastated. " He said sadly.
" Aizawa-sensei is right. " They heard Deku's voice in the background. "Let Takao-san know that she's not alone, she will receive our support. "
"You're right. " Uraraka said.
"Shut your mouth, damn Deku! " Katsuki called and the others looked at him. "What you want to do? Right at the outset, as soon as she arrives, will you tell her, how sorry you are, for losing hers brother?! Huh? " He said sharply. "Do you really think it'll help her somehow ?!"
"Maybe you're right. " Izuku said. "But she should know she has support in us." He said looking at the blonde. "that despite the loss of his brother, she still has... "
"None of us can replace him. Do you want to remind her that she lost him?! " Katsuki interrupted him. "It won't help to mention his death."
"Right, it will only kill her even more. " Kirishima agreed.
"What are you planning to do? " Momo asked, and after a while Rachel entered the class and everyone suddenly fell silent.
Takao was really devastated, it was evident as soon as she entered the room. Girl was surprised to see everyone in their places.
"Oh, you're here? " She smiled immediately, pretending that everything was fine. "I hope I'm not late. " Said still smiling and then took her place. "Why is it so quiet? " She looked at her companions.
"Ahhaha..." Denki laughed nervously. "We thought that Aizawa-sensei had already come. " Said the first thing that came to mind. "And you know what it is, better not to mess with him ... Haha ... "Laughed nervously.
The class was careful with the broken companion. Takao still pretended that everything was fine, didn't show that she had lost someone really close to her. She did everything to make it look like it was before. But her heart completely broke into thousands of tiny pieces that no one could put together anymore. Shinichiro was everything to her, he raised her, she had all the support in him, and the moment she lost him, her whole world collapsed. She didn't know what to do with herself, how to continue to live without him, without talking to each other, without advice, without his constant support. Her brother was always on her side, despite his accident, which later made him a bit colder for her, girl still knew she had his support. She knew what his true intentions were. He didn't always manage to trick her, he couldn't be cold to her, and she broke it off quickly, spoke to him reasonably, and now that everything seemed to be getting anew... She had lost him, forever. This time she would never regain it, and the very awareness that was killing her the most.
"I can't take it anymore. "Kirishima said and glanced at Bakugou then looked at Rachel leaving the room. There has just been a break between lessons.
"Oi! What are you doing? " Bakugou asked confused.
" I'm going to try to piece her heart together, and you go with me. " He pointed to his friend and followed Takao.
Teenager was walking down the corridor, her thoughts running wild. The image of her brother was still in her mind.
"Shin-chan, you'll definitely get better now. " She remembered their conversation. "Now that treatment has resumed, it'll be better now. " She came up to her surprised brother.
"Released? Treatment? " He repeated, surprised. "Ah, yeah, right. " Smiled pleasantly at her. "Sure it gets better. " Stroked her head. "Ray, I'm proud of you. "He continued stroking her head.
There were tears in the eyes of dark-haired girl, which she tried to keep from flowing out.
"It'll be okay, don't be afraid. " Remembered the moment when they were still kids. "Maybe mom has abandoned us, but your brother will always be with you." He hugged his younger sister.
"Shin-chan..." Little Rachel cried. "Shin-chan, you promise? " Asked crying.
"Yes. " He nodded. "I promise. " He stroked her head. "Brother will always be with you. "
"Liar..." Takao cried at the mere mention of that moment. "Shin-chan... You cannot make a promise that you cannot keep..." She continued walking forward. "You said it yourself. " She stopped suddenly in a place where no one saw her at the moment, then looked around, took a deep breath and couldn't bear it, started to cry while hiding her face in her hands. "Bloody liar. " She shook her head. "Stupid Shin-chan... Why didn't I notice it ...? " Said devastated. "How could I...? "
"Ray-chan! " Suddenly she heard a familiar voice and she quickly wiped her tears away and smiled at the sight of Kirishima running towards her.
"Hey, Kiri, what's up? " She asked with a smile.
Boy looked at her sadly.
"Something's wrong? " She asked worried.
"Stop it. " He shook his head, which surprised her. "Stop pretending." Added and then he came to her and hugged her tightly.
"Eh, Kiri? " Girl was surprised. "Why so suddenly...? "
"I know. " He whispered to her and the other froze. "I know what happened ..."
"What are you m-talking about ...? " She stuttered. "Everything is fine so ... "
"How long will you pretend like this? " Bakugou interjected from behind his friends. Boy leaned against the wall and looked at his companions. "Get it over with. " He said looking into her eyes. "You're not fooling us anyway. "
Kirishima was still holding his trembling friend in his arms, but girl pushed him away from her and looked at him, and then at blond man standing next to him.
"I don't know how you know ..." She started trying to sound normal. "But I'm fine ...Really. " She nodded. "Everything ..." She broke off for a moment and then brought back a smile. "E-everything ... f-fine... "
"It was all right. Everything was fine. " She remembered an earlier conversation with her father. "How did this happen?! Shin-chan felt good! " She cried brokenheartedly. "And the treatment ..." As soon as she mentioned him, her father smiled insolently. "You lied ... " Said seeing his reaction. "All this time ..." She shook her head. "You lied all the time! "
"Bravo for your observation. "The other replied. "You knew perfectly well that nothing could save him. " He glanced at his daughter. "You gave yourself the faint hope that if you did, I would resume treatment for him." He laughed. "You wanted so much to believe it. "
"There wasn't any treatment, was there...?" She said in a broken voice. "That's why Shin-chan was so surprised when I mentioned it ... You didn't resume treatment ..." She couldn't believe it.
"As much as I can't believe you believed it. "Laughed. - You convinced yourself that you can still save him. "
"Just like you keep telling yourself that you will save mom! " She shouted at him, which he didn't like much. "Mom is dead! Don't you understand this?! Your efforts are in vain! You can't help her anymore! " She screamed in tears. "You killed her! You and your sick ideas! And now you've killed Shinichiro! You let him die! " Her father hit her, but she didn't react. "You're an ordinary murderer! "
"So do you! " He pointed out to her. "You took as many lives as I did! " He hit her again. "Your brother was as stupid as you are. " He said which upset her even more. "He wanted to protect you, and look how he ended up ... The same goes for your mother." He snorted. "It's not my fault. " He said looking into her eyes. "It's your fault ... You killed them, not me!"
"It's my fault ..." She whispered brokenly as she remembered the earlier quarrel. "My ... It's all my fault ..." Repeated brokenly, and tears appeared in her eyes again. "I let him die ... I made him end this way."
"Ray-chan, stop it. "Kirishima walked over to her.
" No, that's the truth, Kiri. " She looked at him devastated. "You were right Bakugou. " She looked at him. "I'm pretending ... I'm lying ... All the time ..." Cried and looked at her friend. "I kept telling myself that everything was fine ... That I would be able to save him, and what I'm doing ... Is right ... That it is necessary ..." She hid her face in her hands. "I'm sorry, Shin-chan. " Cried. "I wasn't strong enough to save you ... I couldn't help you ... "
"Ray-chan..." Eijiro hugged his friend. "Don't even say that. "
"What I should do now...?" Rachel cried.
"First, stop crying. " Bakugou interjected and walked over to his friends. "Your brother surely wouldn't want you to be sad. " He said and stood next to them. "Then calm down now... Okay, Ray...? " Added, and his words immediately caught attention of crying girl. It was the first time Bakugou had spoken to her by name and called her by nickname. "There, calm down. " He stroked her head, Kirishima still wrapping his arm around her.
"Rachel is not a Japanese name, my mother named me after her deceased sister and she liked it very much. My brother calls me Ray, and I like this version more than the whole thing. " She remembered the moment she told Bakugou about it. Boy really remembered that.
They both stood by her until girl calmed down a bit. Their presence helped her much more. Maybe not all is lost yet?
Later on, the lessons were over and it was time to go home. Bakugou was waiting outside the school for Kirishima and Rachel who was just walking towards him at a slow pace. Talking to friends helped her a lot, but the case in connection with her brother's death was too fresh and at the mere mention of teenager she wanted to cry.
"I did what he wanted..." She said to herself, she didn't even notice that Katsuki was waiting for them, she had her head down. "I tried to..." Repeated. "It was supposed to help him, I was doing it for hi ..." She went devastated, and after a while she was close enough that Bakugou could hear her. "I really tried ..." Her voice cracked. "I tried ... I did everything ... "Blond Man was a bit surprised at her words but didn't interrupt her. "I tried ... Did I ...? " She said to herself, and after a while she felt someone put a hand on her head. That someone was Bakugou.
"Yes. " He nodded. "You did well. " Confirmed. "You were brave. " He wanted to somehow keep her spirits up. "Good job. " He added and stroked her head, which touched Takao.
Rachel didn't dare to look at him, but was really grateful for his words and presence. Girl grabbed the end of his shirt while he continued stroking her head. She held him for fear that he would disappear in a moment and that she would lose another person close to her. She didn't want this. It didn't happen, however, Katsuki was standing next to her and he wasn't going anywhere.
"Ray-chin. " A familiar voice suddenly sounded so both teenagers looked in the direction from which he was coming.
"D-Dara ...? "Girl was surprised then wiped her tears and looked at him again. Boy gave her a sad smile.
"Let's go back. " He said then walked over to her and as he passed Bakugou they both gave each other killing glares. "Let's go..." He took Takao's hand and led her behind him.
"But..." She glanced over her shoulder at Bakugou and Kirishima walking towards them. "Wait ... " Woman wanted to stop her companion on the way, but she failed to do so, and when they both left the school premises, they stopped.
"Ray-chin..." Dara kept his head down and was still holding girl's hand.
"How did you get here so suddenly?" She asked uncertainly.
"I had to see you. " He said, then glanced at his friend, and when he saw her tears, he nodded, sighed and pulled her to him, then hugged her tightly, and this gesture surprised Rachel a lot.
"Dara ...? " Gark-haired girl was surprised. "It's not like you. "
"I know. " He replied, still hugging her. "Now shut up. " He added, and the teenager returned his gesture uncertainly.
