Chapter one.
The song of the story is: west life love takes two.
Ella Milestone sat down on the stool in the changing room of the place she worked. She knew that she should have changed by now, since she was already fired because she had mistakenly spilled hot coffee on five people in the space of two days, all because she felt as if fate and karma had teamed up against her. But, the truth was that she didn't care. Why should she care when the the world does not even care about her.
Not to mention that Cassie was away in Paris with her gorgeous husband and two children.
She had only talked to Cassie on phone for five years now. And when ever Cassie asked if she was alright, she always lied that she was okay, when in reality she was not. Not even she owing two months rent, light bill and to top it all, she had no food at home. All she ate was scraps of left over of the cakes most of the people who came to eat left untouched.
Her life was not good at all. She had until Saturday to pay the house bill or she was going to get thrown out into the streets. The last thing she wanted to do right now is to Cassie for help, but right now life was giving her no choice. She would ask Cassie to lend her some money and the n she would pay back when she gets her pay check. Not that Cassie didn't offer to help her, but Ella wanted to earn money by herself and not through her friend.
It was enough that Cassie bought her an I-phone 7 for her birthday and sent it to her from Paris. Ella had determined since then that she would make money herself, even if it took her the first quarter of her life. After all she was still twenty-seven,she still had enough time to work so she would get money.
Due to the fact that she didn't attend college, she couldn't get a job in one of the large and prestigious companies in west Philly. The orphanage that had taken care of her, right from when she was a month old, could only pay for her until she finished High School. They HD let her out on her own with few dollars and they told her that she had to take care of her self right from age fifteen.
With no one to help her,Ella had started out on her own by sleeping in the streets, until she got a job as a waitress. They had given her accommodation and food, which she had been grateful for. She had met Cassie in the restaurant one day and Cassie helped her get the place she was currently living in with the help of her father before he died.
Ever since that day,Ella had swore never to get angry with Cassie no matter what she did.
Sighing, Ella fished out her phone from her pocket. She unlocked it then pressed the speed dial number she had set up for Cassie. She picked it on the fourth ring.
"Hey, R." Cassie said a bit tiredly. "What's up?"
"Nothing much." Ella winced inwardly at the way she sounded. "How is Kaden and the kids?"
"They are....."Cassie paused."Bellamy Clark Mckade, don't you dare touch that glass cup." Ella heard Cassie shout in the back ground.
"Maybe this is not a good time." Ella decided that calling Cassie had been a bad idea. "I will just---"
"Don't even think about it." Cassie said to her." You don't usually sound like this when ever you call me. So tell me what is wrong right now. And don't you dare leave any thing out."
Ella knew that she had no choice but to say the truth now.
"I need to borrow money from you." She held her breath knowing what Cassie would say next. And she wasn't disappointed.
"Are you kidding me?" Cassie scoffed. "Borrow money? You know that you only have to ask me and I will give it to you. There's no way I am borrowing you any money, i am giving you. Did you hear that? I am giving you the money."
"Okay then." She sighed.
"There's something else," Cassie said knowingly." Tell me this minute or so help me...."
"I lost my job."
"You did what?!" Cassie gasped. "Did those people realise that you have worked for them for five freaking years?"
"I don't think so." She sniffed as she fought her tears. "I feel so alone Cassie. It feels as if the world had turned its back on me."
"You know that you are not really alone. If it makes you feel better, i will fly out to Philly tomorrow. Just say the word honey."
"You don't have to." Ella wiped away the stray tear which had escaped from the corner of her eyes. "I miss you so much."
"I do too." Cassie sniffed. "I will come to Philly next month. Kade has a business deal there next month,so I will come with him and the kids. About your job, i will get you one."
"How do you intend to get me a job here when you are in Paris?"
"Being a Mckade has its advantage."
"I--" she started to protest but Cassie cut in.
"Don't you dare tell me that you don't need my help, because you do. I am tired of you rejecting any help. just a minute." Cassie shouted something at her son before returning to the phone. " i swear that boy would drive me crazy one of these days."
"I will accept any job you get for me then." Ella sighed in defeat. She winced when she heard a loud crash from the end of the line.
"I will skin that kid alive." Cassie murmured. "I've got to go. I will text or call you later when I get you the job." She hung up.
Ella stared at the phone for a very long time. Would Cassie really get her the job? But how?
As much as she didn't like accepting help from Cassie, she admitted that she was grateful. Perhaps Cassie was right.
She needed to start accepting help.
###
William tapped his index finger against the mahogany desk in his office. After Cassie married Kaden, he had left for Cape Town, south Africa. He had stayed away from women ever since then. Who could blame him? He had longed for something he knew he couldn't have and had gotten a broken heart instead. And those nosey reporters had shown the world his humiliation.
He had stayed away for five years so things would die down a bit. And things had died down just like he had expected. He had arrived two days ago, and no story about him had been published yet. Even his younger sister,Ansela maintained a low profile. In fact, every one in the family maintained low profile after what happened with Kaden and the kidnapping of Cassie five years ago.
But today he was a bit angry and happy.
He was happy because, Cassie contacted him after all this while. Angry because she had called him about a particular friend of hers, who had no job and that she needed him to fund her any position in one of his companies here in West Philly.
What did i expect? She is married to Kaden with two kids of course.
And she obviously loved his brother, which was why she had chosen him five years ago instead of William. He had a very great feeling that Cassie was trying to help her friend and at the same time trying to play match maker. But he would rather swim in a crocodile filled river before loving another woman.
He will help her friend, since he couldn't refuse Cassie anything, even though she married his brother despite knowing William loved her. But then he would have to set rules and regulations for that her friend just so she knows where they stand.
First thing on the list was that be would never love another woman apart from Cassie.
