Aiden's POV

" It's been a while, gentleman! " I wished them while taking my seat in the conference room.

" Good morning Mr.Mathews. So why are we gathered here ? " Mr. Wesley asked me with a smirk on his face.

' Way to go Wesley.. Acting all innocent ' I thought for a second.

" Oh I just came here to congratulate everyone, especially you Mr Wesley. I heard you have been working really hard." I replied him with a smile to which he responded immediately with a proud laugh.

" Oh.. Afterall it's our company, we have to be responsible right sir ? " He asked me and everyone around him agreed to it.

" You even hired a D-list Model to date me and spread a rumour about me." I just raised my voice which made everyone flinch.

" Wait, What ? " Mr. Samuels asked me with confusion. I understood one thing from their reactions, it was purely Mr. Wesley's plan to defame me, to throw me out of my own company.

" No.. That's not true. I think you have been hearing rumours. Give some respect for the board members Mr.Mathews." Mr. Bennett spoke out of blue.

' Ugh.. Another minion of Mr.Wesley '

" Yeah, I should really appreciate Mr.Bennett for the efforts taken by him for taking bribes from his friends and family to sell contracts to be our business partners " I replied to him with a grin.

" No, That's .. T-That's " he started to stutter. Good !!

" You all thought it was okay to take advantage of my company like that? " I shouted at them.

There was a pin drop silence

"Since the Chairman turned blind eye to this, that doesn't mean that I'll react to it by the same way." I stood up from my seat.

They both let out a nervous chuckle and Mr.Wesley tried to convince me with lies once again.

" You both get out of my building. You are fired." I said calmly pointing both of them.

" Mr.Mathews, You can't! Please! Listen to us. " they started to beg but it was late. Soon securities came to escort them out.

" Gentleman, I have been busy concentrating so much on abroad deals. But I intend to pay closer attention to this from now on." I announced to others in the room. They all agreed with fear in their eyes.

" Well done .. My boy .. You proved yourself once again " I heard my dad aka chairman's voice. He just barged inside the room with proud smile. Everyone stood up and welcomed him.

" You just flew back in today ! Can't you just take a single damn day off ? " He asked me with a sigh.

" No, I can't. There are too many things that needs my attention." I responded to him while eyeing everyone in the room.

" What else is there? You made all your projects sucessful till date. You fired the main trouble makers among the board members.I think this as an achievement" He asked me with a small laugh, to which everyone laughed along with him.

" Alright. Now I have prepared a very important project for you" he said with a serious tone.

I looked at Kane who had no idea about the new project. I could see a smile forming on the member's faces.

" What kind of project? " I asked my dad.

He took some time, mostly hesitating to talk about it. Kane and myself, we both looked like idiots, clearly unable to figure it out while we could sense that others in the room are very much aware about this new project.

" Marriage !! " He finally said it with a determined smile.

" Sir, Are you getting married? " Kane asked him with seriousness. The others gave a hearty laugh.

" Not me !! Him.. " My dad exclaimed pointing towards me.

" No.. No way.. " I whispered.

" What? I'm not getting young either. Is it too much to ask to see my son with a wife and few grandchildren? " He started to whine.

" I have lot of work to do. Can we just leave this topic " I argued with him.

" Sir, I think you should consider our chairman's advice. Our shareholders are still feeling uneasy with your rumours around. May be your wedding news will calm them down and give assurance to believe in you as a responsible person." Mr.Samuels spoke supporting my father's whining.

" I can always arrange a blind date for you. We have lots of single, elite ladies in our business world.How about Catherine? She is back from France.She might be the perfect match for you.She can be helpful with your business." my dad spoke again.

'Catherine? Is he speaking about Catherine Tate? The one who cheated on me during our university days? The one who left me for some other guy? I'm not marrying her. Never!'

" No.. that won't be necessary. We have lots of work to do ? Right Kane ? And dad, Catherine? Seriously?" I intrupted while trying to change the topic.Out of everyone here, he very well knew what happened between us and how broke I was. To distract myself, I started my own gaming company and he thinks that she will help me with my business. That's crazy.

" Uh.. Right Mr.Chairman. We still have that GK group's deal to get signed off " he blurted out. He knew what happened between me and Catherine. The girl once I thought as love of my life is my first enemy right now.

" Are you two dating ? " My dad asked both of us out of nowhere. Why would he think like that? I could again hear murmurs filling the room.

" What? No.." we both yelled. He let out a relieved sigh.

" I don't know about him Sir, but I'm not a gay. And even if I like men, I'm very sure that he is not my type" Kane replied quickly, recieving a glare from me.

' Thanks a lot dude !!'

" Fine.. Catherine is a nice girl. Don't stay in your past.You both were young, so it's natural to make mistakes.Her family is now back from France and they are eager to meet you.This marriage alliance can bring a lot of advantage for them as well as us.Remember she is an elite.Then it's settled. Let's arrange for a blind date." my dad said cutting our glaring contest.

" Wait.. I can't go .. go for a blind date.And what she did was not a mistake,It's called cheating dad. Catherine will never be my wife and that's final. " I again said loudly.

Why Catherine? There is something he is hiding. Advantage for me? I don't need favours from them and from his insisting I can only understand that Tate family needs me. My dad and Tate were good pals, then things got a little complicated when she cheated on me with my stupid cousin. But still my dad maintained his contact with them. I even knew he helped them to move to France. What the hell is he hiding?

"Son, You might be the CEO of AiMat. But I'm still the Chairman. Just a reminder, I still have the power to fire you." My dad had that evil smile on his face.

Wow.. Now he is trying to threaten me.

"Stop joking around dad.You can't threaten me.I'm in the middle of a huge project right now.AiMat was my idea and I built it with my hardwork."I almost yelled at him. My company has nothing to do with him or his powers.

"I agree but I'm not joking either Aiden. As a chairman of AiMat Incorp, I fire you."He said with a stern tone.

Anger built inside me. As I told AiMat was my idea and hardwork, but still during it's startup days my dad, President of Mathew groups favoured us with his investments, that's how he got his position as chairman of my company.

" You can't.. You can't fire me. You know how important this project is to me.I can't ruin it." I slamed the table out of anger. There was complete silence in the room.

"Look, Until you get married and settled, you are relieved from your CEO duties.And that is final. " My dad said with certainty as he gave a loud tap to the ground with his walking stick.

Everyone in the room including Kane looked at me expecting an answer from me. I closed my eyes to calm myself. Then I said the stupidest lie to convince them.

"I can't marry Catherine.I already have a girlfriend and we both are engaged."

' What the hell was I thinking while telling this stupidest thing. '

" Wow.. that's good then .. " Mr. Samuels said while clapping his hands in a way of congratulating me. I know my dad didn't believe me and my lies. He knew I wouldn't trust another woman after what Catherine did to me. But I can't lose my company,I can't marry that cheater to be a part of my own company. That's unfair. Fine.. He wants a daughter in law, I can get him one.To make the lie look even more stronger, I chose to tell another lie.

" Actually she is here..She is here to meet me because we have a lunch date." I let out a nervous chuckle.

"You have?" Kane asked me with confusion in his looks. I don't blame him, even I would have reacted like that.

" Bring her in." my dad ordered Kane who looked like a deer caught in headlights. I definitely knew from his look that he doesn't like the idea of me going on a date with my imaginary girlfriend.

" No.. wait!! I'll bring her in. I don't want her to get startled by all this." with that said I left the room ignoring the stares from the board members and my dad.

'What the hell were you thinking Aiden. Stupid Aiden! Where will you go now for a girlfriend. No ! A Fiancee. Arghh..This is not a thing that you can purchase in market. Is Something wrong with your brain? Ok wait! Think ! I can hire someone to act as my fiance for some time but who will be ready to do that for me ? ' My mind screamed.

As a reply to my arguments I saw her. The same girl from the elevator. She definitely had no idea about me before. She stood there looking all professional, while tapping her legs waiting for her turn. Well, she got the job as my fiance.
Congratulations to her !!

I walked directly towards her by taking long strides and dragged her along with me without any further delay.At first, she was reluctant but eventually gave in. Before entering the board members room, I just wished myself that everything should go as planned.

We both entered the room, where all eyes were on us. I introduced her as my fiance, which definitely gave her a shock.

" Do you think you can fool us by bringing some random girl inside and introducing her as your fiance? How can she be your girl?" my dad yelled still not convinced with my lies. Then I just did the craziest thing to prove my lie.

I kissed her... 😘
