Night 4 {Part 1}
(Night four means that it is the night of day 4. Not the fourth night, if you get that.)
I quickly shut the door to my house everyone began to walk back to my front gate. I quickly shuffled forward to catch up with the rest of them. Soon enough I was in the caboose of the Pack (heh.) and we quickly made our way back to the school doors.
Everyone had left the school, so there was six stray cars everywhere in the parking lot.
"Okay. Whose taking Mat?" Lachlan asked before anyone left to their cars.
"A better question, who has the best taste in music?" I asked everyone because I would not be put in a car with bad music.
"What is wrong with my music? Rob asked me.
"Yours is too....girly."
"Too girly? I am offended." Rob said bringing his hand to his chest to add to the fake dramatic question he had.
"So I am not going with Rob and Preston. Who else is willing to accept?"
"I can take you. You okay with Muse?"
"Muse? I love Muse. I am going with Brandon."
Everyone just agreed and walked towards their cars as I walked over with Brandon. Brandon walked over to the stray BMW Roadster. Brandon pulled out his keys and unlocked his car as I jumped in the passengers seat. As I slid in Brandon jumped in the front seat and began to start up the car. I threw on my seat belt and took in how nice his car was.
"This is a pretty fancy car for 18 years of age."
"I know. I think a car shows a person's worth, in a sense. So I decided a BMW was a good choice."
Brandon starts the car and begins to drive out of the parking lot.
"Who is this in the picture frame?" I asked Brandon about the picture hanging from his rear view mirror.
"Oh my girlfriend Kara."
"Oh really?! I didn't know you had a girlfriend."
I did know Brandon had a girlfriend but I thought they broke up when Kara moved to Oregon a month ago. I acted stupid so it didn't look like I constantly stalked him since he moved here.
"Yeah, we have been dating since junior year."
"Didn't she move away like last month?"
"Oh yeah. We are dating long distance."
"oh wow. Isn't that hard?"
"I mean, yeah. But we make it work."
"Oh that's great." I said as my body took an internal sigh at that.
The laser tag arena is about a ten minute drive away so Brandon turned on the radio and we listening and hummed the lyrics on the way there.
Soon enough two miles out of town, we saw the large building.
It was mainly just the building with a huge open area behind it. There were random blocks and obstacles everywhere in the fenced in area. It looked sick, as usual.
Brandon drove and backed next to the others cars. He stopped the engine from running and started to unbuckle from the passenger seat. I shuffled my body over to the door and tried to find the door handle. Once I found it, I pulled it and shuffled out of Brandon's car. The guys had already grouped around each other and were walking into the front doors of the establishment.
The desk was to the right and Brandon walked over and started talking to the woman, whose name tag read Violetta.
The rest of the boys were in their previous conversations as I stood in the back awkwardly waiting.
"GENTLEMEN. Welcome to Toronto's very own Laser Tag arena. My name is Violetta and I will show you how to play properly before letting you loose. Now with a show of hands, who has played before?" Violetta said with a half and half accent of Spanish and French.
Brandon, Preston, Rob and I raised our hands while Mitch Jerome Lachlan and Vikk stood there awkwardly waiting for someone to speak.
"Okay, I will go over the ground rules and then let you loose in the arena."
Okay before I go on and write about how Violetta explain the rules and regulations and how to shoot and how to guard, what to wear and how to wear it and how to win, but I will not because that would take so long and this story of mine is already going to be long. So I will continue writing at the point were we were let loose in the arena.
Violetta opened up the large double doors into the large arena area. We all filed out wearing the vest and holding the pistol. Rob Preston and Brandon were ready for this but the rest of us were hoping for the best.
Rob was going to count down before the game begun so we soon spilt up and headed in our own directions. I had played this a bit so I knew some of the tips and tricks to this. I headed in the directions of the north side and squatted and waited for Rob's countdown.
Eventually Rob yelled out,
"3,
2,
1,
GO!"
I just stayed there and waited for any noise to come my way. It was silent for about 3 minutes before the shuffling of feet was heard to my left. I positioned myself on the right side of a block and waited to see where the person went. When I peaked around the corner with my gun held tightly in my hands, I saw the tall figure of Mister Lachlan Power. I know that Lachlan is really fast and usually really sneaky so a quick and fast shot might have been my best option. I kept my breathing low and silent as he walked closer and closer to the block.
He was just about to walk past the block when I jumped up and sent a shot at Lachlan's chest before retreating back behind the block. I heard a very loud sound from Lachlan and knew that was the sound from his vest telling the players that someone was eliminated from the game.
I just exhaled from knowing that Lachlan was eliminated. HE just said,
"Oh COME ON." before he made his way over to the doors.
I had already had some stress built up in me but when people started dropping, I really panicked. I mean I know that 5 people were out. I know Rob was one of them because he yelled at Preston because he got him out. I was completely unsure about the rest of the players. So I started to bob and weave in-between all of the obstacles and waiting for someone to come. I mean there were only two other people so they had to show up eventually, right?
I made my way around, silently, trying to find someone lurking gin the shadows. I mean I don't care if I get out but the stress and anxiety of the game was at an all supreme high.
I was rounding a corner when I saw someone shifted from one block to another. I quickly got behind a block and played defensive as I waited for them to move around. I thought that patience was my best move so I stayed there and waited. As I slowly got up and was about to look over at the person, the loud sound of someone being eliminated was heard all around the arena. I let out a slight sigh as I thought it was me.
That was until the arena let out the announcement of
"PLAYER SIX IS LEFT STANDING AND WINS THIS ROUND."
Wait, I thought I was player six.
"OH COME ON. HOW DOES THAT EVEN WORK?" I heard someone yell from behind me as I turned around from the block to see who yelled that. It was Preston.
I noticed that Preston's vest was it up red, saying he was out. I fully stood up and looked over to see Brandon was about 10 yards away from Preston. His vest was also red.
I started to walk over to them when Preston yelled,
"OKAY? WHO WAS SIX?"
"Um..Preston I was." I say with a little wave.
"Did you shoot me?" he asked pointing at me.
"No I didn't take a shot. Why?"
"Then how did Brandon get out?"
"Did you shoot at him?" I asked Preston.
"Well yes."
"And did he shoot at you?" I asked Preston and we both looked over to Brandon. He just nodded awkwardly
"Well maybe you shot each other at the same time." I said shrugging my shoulders along with my statement.
Preston and Brandon both half nodded and looked like it was possible.
"Another round?" I asked the boys as they let their guns go limp at their waist.
"Of course, I need to get Mat now."
"Shit."
