Day 2

The next day I got to know you a little better. And I am so proud that I did.

Again I walked through the long and tedious lunch line, grabbed a sandwich and dodged my way through the crowd of people. I scanned my cards, threw out a quick thank you and began to walk over to our table. About 3 steps later, I realized I was supposed to sit with the Popular's today. I quickly turned around and made my way over. All of them were there already, just eating and chatting to each other. I quickly found the same seat next to Brandon and sat down. I laid my math book on the floor since I have a math assignment to do for tomorrow. I didn't make much noise so no one really noticed I was there. I just zoned out quietly eating my sandwich until I heard Brandon screech and fall to the floor. I just looked over really confused as everyone at the table turned their heads.

"Mat bro. You scared the living shit out of me!"

"How?"

"I didn't realize that you sat down. I turned and you were there and you scared me." he said getting up off of the floor and sitting back down at his seat.

"I'm sorry I am so quiet?"

"Don't be sorry, but damn you should get a job at the Haunted House. Damn."

I just shook my head and pulled out my large and heavy math book.

I just opened up to the specific page where my math homework stuck out. I pulled out the bright green sheet and began to work out the radical equations. It wasn't too hard right now, so it took me minutes to finish the worksheet and slid it back into the book. I then began to focus back on the people at the table, when I realized they were all looking at me.

"What?"

"I told you guys!" Rob almost yelled pointing at me.

"What did you tell them?"

"You zone out and don't hear anything for minutes on end."

"That's only when I do homework."

"How do you do that? Especially in a cafeteria of people." Lachlan asked leaning more towards my direction.

"I don't  really know."

"That's sick. So you can do that in class?" Jerome asked.

"Sometimes."

"That is awesome. I can barely zone out without something distracting me."

Right as he said that, the lunch bell rang and people began to get up from the table and leave to there next class. I quickly grabbed my mathbook, before following, close behind, the rest of the boys.

I didn't expect anything else out of that day, but fate seemed to twist me around.

The end of school bell had just rung and I moseyed my way to my locker. I was in no hurry so I didn't run around like retards like the rest of my grade. I got to my locker and began to click the lock code in when someone rammed into me. With the books in my hands flying, I slammed into the lockers at such a rate that I fell to the floor. I looked up to see Sam and Bashur  goofing off. They muttered a silent sorry before running off.  I let out a loud low sigh as I began to group up my things that were all over the floor. I just had about everything when someone handed me my art sketchbook and my math folder. I glanced up to see Brandon standing there, grinning and all go-lucky. I threw on a quick smile as I grabbed my things from him.

"So did you fall or what?"

"Sam and Bashur rammed into me and I fell and dropped everything."

"Oh that sucks. You okay?"

"Yeah, fine."

"Did - Did you get the math assignment done? I didn't really get it."

"Um yeah. D-do you need some help?"

"Yeah that would be awesome."

"Okay let me get everything else in my backpack and then I can help."

"Thanks." he said as I began to grab everything from the floor and pile it in the bottom of my locker. I pulled out my math, government and my art sketchbook before beginning to put it in my bag.

"Was there governments homework today?"

"It's due at the end of class on Friday, but I know he will let me mess around if I have it done."

"Oh great idea. Give me a second, I'm going to go grab it. Thanks for telling."

"No problem." I said beginning to zip up my bag, grab my computer and pull my coat out. Once I did that, I began my way over to Brandon's locker. He was still opening his locker so, I just leaned against his neighbors and waited until he grabbed his governments.

"Okay. I think that a band room practice room is open so we can grab one of those." he said beginning to walk downstairs.

"Okayyyyy."

"Have been in one?"

"No. I have no real band friends."

"Oh well. Now I can be that real band friend. Here this one looks open." he said opening up the door to a small room in the band room. It was simple; it has a desk in the corner with a few chairs and stands. Ohhhhh and a piano.

"Okay will this work?"

"This will do fine."

"BRANDON, BRANDOM CLEMENTS, CAN I TALK TO YOU FOR A SECOND?"

"Oh, that's my director. Be back in a second." he said before slipping out and over to his director. I just shut the door and began to get my math. Once I did and Brandon still hadn't come, I moved closer to the piano and began to turn it on. I just quickly play a few notes and no one came so I started playing my favorite piece, I been know it by memory. It was the One Call Away by Charlie Puth. It wasn't too hard of a melody so I didn't really have to think about. With that I began to hum-harmonize to it since it looked like Brandon wasn't coming soon. I just played the chorus and about a measure before the end of the chorus, I heard the door knob turn. So I quickly stopped playing and turned off the keyboard as he walked in. He walked in and I walked over to the desk so we could begin on math.

"You're pretty good at the piano there."

"No not really. Its just a bad habit."

"Playing pieces on the piano is a bad habit?"

I just shrugged and got out my math worksheet so I could help Brandon. He just let it go and began to ask about the worksheet. I spent about 30 minutes reteaching rational functions to Brandon, but after he got it and breezing through the rest of the worksheet.

He had finished up the worksheet and thanked me many of times for the help. I just laughed at how much he thanked me. Just as I was about to say god-bye, Brandon spoke up.

"Have you listened to the rest of Puth's album?"

"No."

"You should Nine Track Mind is great. Anyways see you tomorrow at lunch, again thanks for the help."

"As I said a thousand times, its no problem. See you later." I said as I walked outside and began to walk to my house as Brandon jumped in his car. Before I got to far, I pulled out my Beats and iPhone and pulled up the Nine Track Mind album and began to the whole album as I walked home.
