Day 1

It was nice out at the beginning of our story. A casual Tuesday in fact. Nothing special happened except that lunch was new.

I didn't expect Rob and Preston to not be our table, and I never expected them to be at 'The Popular Table.'

I had just scanned my small rectangular lunch ticket and started to walk over to our table when I realized no one was there. Which was odd because Preston and Rob are always here before me. I just sat down and began eating my hopeless mess of a ham and cheese sandwich before the sound of someone sitting down caught my attention. I moved my glance over to the source to see the one and only Robert Latsky.

"Hey Mat, we are sitting over by Preston's friends today. You should come, they invited you and everything."

"Yeah right. Plus I have math to do. I can sit here."

"No just because you have social anxiety doesn't mean that you can get to stay over here. You are coming."

A low sigh came out along with the reply of, "Fine. Where are we?"

"The Popular Table."

"ROB! What?!? No hella way I am going over there."

"Yes you are. They already think you are coming."

"Rooooob. No. I-I am fine here."

"We will come over here if need be. Get up. We are going."

Right there is where I am the most thankful for Rob stubbornness, if I never got off my fat ass, I wouldn't be here. But anyways back to the story.

"Fine fine fine but if I start crying..."

"I will say your dog died okay. Let's go."

I slowly picked up my lunch tray and followed behind Rob like a lost puppy until we reached one of the head tables. Almost the whole table was filled minus two spots which I was assuming was for me and for Rob. One was on the Preston and the other was two away from him. Of course, Rob took the seat next to Preston and I shyly sat down.

"Everybody, Mat. Mat this is..." Preston began as he introduced me to the other 5 off them. "Mitch, Jerome, Lachlan, Vikk and Brandon is sitting right next to you."

"Heyo Mat." Mitch said after his name was called.

"Hello Mat." Jerome said with a nice wave.

"Yo."  Lachlan said before going back to his phone.

"Yo?" Vikk said looking at the taller blonde.

"Hi Mat." Brandon said giving me a nice head bob before going back to his sandwich. After that everyone went back to their conversations even Rob and Preston started kissing at one point, horny bastards. I just shrugged it off and continued eating until I had finished the lonely sandwich. Once I had done that, I left my math book and began to get up to take my tray back, but Brandon began to speak to me.

"Wait Mat. I will go with you." Brandon said standing up and walking with me.

"You know I barely ever see you around. Do you skip much?"

"No I just blend in."

"Ah, I feel like I would have noticed you but there is a lot of kids here."

"Tell me about it." I said dumping my tray and saying a slight thank-you to the lunch lady that took my tray.

"Actually 200 is a small amount compared to my last school. At one point we had 700+ at our school."

"700? Holy crap. How were you not trampled?"

"I don't even know how I made it to my classes in one piece."

I just smiled and sat back down as we arrived at the table. Once we did, a group of girls walked right past us. The 'Popular Girls', white girls, big hair, all of that. I think they were dating of few of the boys at the table. I believe Vikk was dating Christina, wait no Kay. He's dating Kay.

They just smiled and waved before walking back. I just rolled my eyes and grabbed my phone before going on random apps and checking updates. I could hear everyone else chatting and laughing, but I just stayed in my own bubble until the end of lunch, or about 5 minutes later. The bell rang and all of us got up.

"Yo, you three should sit with us more often. Tomorrow okay?"

"Sounds perfect." Rob said dragging Preston along to the hallway as I made my way to the study hall.

"What about you Mat?" I heard from Brandon who was walking right sides me. "You sitting with us tomorrow?"

"Yeah I can."

"Good. See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow." I said as I walking right and he walked left before going to different sides of the building.

Our short conversations that day will always be engraved in mind, I mean the start of something out of my comfort zone. I mean that was a feat in itself.

But looking back at it, I was happy that I agreed life would be very different without seeing you the next day.
