Subaru's POV
A knock on the door was heard from outside of my room.

A beautiful woman enters, my mom.

"I don't know why you asked me to buy you a notebook and a calligraphy pen." My mom said as she sits down on the couch, adjacent to my bed, "It's not like you'll have classes in the hospital." She added as she pulls out a new blue notebook and a new calligraphy pen from her bag. She places the notebook and pen down on the coffee table beside my bed.

"I feel bored when I just have to lie down and stare at nothing all day. Atleast, the notebook and pen will entertain me." I replied.

"But there's a TV. And the remote is at your reach." She said.

"The shows are boring." I simply responded.

My mom pulls out her phone from her bag as she looks through her messages. "I have to go, dear. I have a meeting in 20 minutes." She explained.

I shrugged, "Fine." I said.

My mom stood up and left.

After a few seconds of her leave, a girl with yellow and ombre pink hair enters the room.

"Oi, I thought my sweet tomato is busy today." I teased.

"Haha, very funny. Atleast I visited you." Yume said.

She sat on a chair beside my bed. "How are you?" She asked.

"Oh, Yume, earlier I feel sick. Until I saw the love of my life, my Tomato. I suddenly feel healthy." I said with tone of joking.

"Healthy? You're in a hospital, and you're healthy?" She muttered.

"Yeah, I know it sounds a bit ironic to this hospital." I replied.

She laughed.

"I sneaked pass your mom, by the way." She shows-off as she grins.

"As if." I teased. "It's true alright!" She complained as I laughed.

She suddenly stopped, "How are you doing?" She asked.

I smiled, "Fine."

The rest of the day, me and Yume teased each other, laughed together, a short argument that I caused by teasing her but I am able to calm her down immediately.

It was fun being with her.

Helps me forget about my condition.

Soon, the day ended, Yume went back to Venus Ark.

I took my notebook and pen, and started writing down.

"If my sickness will get in the way, then I think I have to quicken things up.

I just have to wait...

The nurse suddenly enters my room to check on me.

I sighed, how did I end up like this?

Sickle cell anemia is an abnormality in hemoglobin or red blood cells. Two individuals must have this gene for their child to have this also.

Normal red blood cells are circle while sickle ones are in crescent shaped.

This disease is recessive, which means, this trait can only be seen or be a problem if both parents have this trait.
