Ch90 The Unexpected Return...
There's a theory that since it's Adrien and Gabriel, Mrs Agreste's name will start with a Z to spell out ZAG after the creator, so I did a lil research and decided to name Mrs Agreste Zara.
Names in MLB tend to hold a lot of information about the character (an example, Agreste is a type of butterfly). Zara, a French name, means Princess; Lady; Shining; Light; Dawn; Blossom; Radiance; Queen; Blossoming Flower; Little; Women of Heaven; Day's Awakening; Beautiful Flower. I just feel that describes Mrs Agreste's role in the show as some sort of kind, warm, angelic woman that was the light of everyone's life.
If I actually manage to predict Mrs Agreste's name, WOW, but probs not haha that would be way too freaky.

[Nino's POV]
Marinette sighs tiredly. "I don't think I can handle another Sports Carnival."
"Aw but I want another kiss!" Adrien whines.
Marinette grabs Adrien's collar and pulls him down to kiss his cheek.
Adrien grins cheekily. "it's not the same! Last year you were so cute and bashful, you couldn't stop blushing and ran away straight after."
Marinette's face turns red just by thinking of that embarrassing memory. "S-Shut up, that was a big move for me you know!"
Adrien giggles as he pinches Marinette's blushing cheek. "That's it, that's the face of my cute little bugaboo."
"Shh!" Marinette says, swatting Adrien's hands away.
I pretend to be invested in my food to save them the trouble of stressing over me hearing Adrien call Marinette 'Bugaboo', Cat Noir's special nickname for Ladybug. I already know their identities of course, but they don't know mine. I'm actually more concerned about Alya overhearing. She's the presumptuous investigator.
My eyes flicker to Alya but she appears completely at ease. Maybe she didn't hear, or else she would be interrogating Adrien by now. If she gets one small lead she totally guns for it. Heck, she thought Chloe was Ladybug! Although, now I know Chloe does make a pretty good superhero....
At first I couldn't believe that Adrien had chosen Chloe but now it just feels so right. They are childhood friends after all, he knows her better than anyone, and she's evidently become a better person since he gave her this responsibility, he must have understood how much she needed this...Damn, Adrien's wiser than I thought. I thought I was supposed to be the great guardian. Makes sense now though; not only is Marinette Ladybug but Adrien is Cat Noir, my two bestest friends. I would definitely protect them with my life. Them, and Alya. I would do anything for Alya. Come to think of it, if Adrien picked Chloe, wouldn't Marinette's first choice be...
My gaze slowly lingers back to Alya, who is munching away on her sandwich. What am I thinking? There's no way. Rena Rouge and Alya may be similar but they look nothing alike!
Heat rises to my cheeks as I slip into my fantasies. Rena Rouge does have soft fluffy hair like Alya, and smooth, tan skin...and plump, red lips.
Ack! No! I can't go thinking of other girls as my girlfriend now. They are not the same!
Adrien stretches his arms out before relaxing with one around Marinette. "I'm not really in the mood for a sports day either. I've been so tired lately from," Adrien hesitates. "...Fencing."
Marinette hums in agreement as she leans on Adrien's shoulder. To tell the truth, I'm also exhausted. Us three have been on patrol day and night whenever we get the chance.
"I'm also exhausted." Alya says as if speaking my thoughts.
I raise my eyebrow at her. "From what?"
"Oh, you know, schoolwork just has me swamped lately. The Ladyblog, as well." Alya excuses. "I meant more like mentally exhausted."
I slowly take a sip from my juice box, keeping an eye on Alya as my mind lingers.
"I say we all skip the Sports Carnival and have a day out." Adrien says.
"You want to wag school?" Marinette replies disapprovingly.
"It's not wagging if you call in sick, and there are no classes that day anyway." Adrien says. "Come on Princess, it'll be fun."
"Mmmm...okay." Marinette agrees reluctantly.
"And let's invite Chloe!" Alya pipes in.
I stare at Alya in surprise. She's always hated Chloe. I mean, sure, recently she has begrudgingly tried to be nice for Marinette's sake, but going out of her way to invite the girl to our fun day? I turn to Marinette and Adrien to see their response but they are both just smiling casually.
"Yeah, sure." Adrien says.
"I would love that!" Marinette adds happily.
"Are you really okay with her coming?" I ask Alya awkwardly.
"Why not?" Alya answers with a smile. "She's changed, right?"
"Y-Yeah, she has..." I reply.
But how would Alya know that? What's made her change her mind all of a sudden?
The school bell rings for class time, cutting this conversation short. Well, it's not like I care. I really like Queen Bee actually, she's become like another sister in this little family of mine. Now it's Nino's chance to get to know Chloe.

[Adrien's POV]
I'm sitting alone at the dining table as usual. Well, that isn't really fair to say. My dad's actually been joining me for breakfast but he's always busier later in the day. At least I know this time it's because he is actually working and not terrorising Paris.
I stare blankly at my food, poking it with my fork as I get lost in thought. Master Fu told me that the peacock and butterfly miraculous and the book of spells had all gone missing decades ago. So how did my parents come upon them? And if my mom had the peacock miraculous...where is it now?
The sound of footsteps echoes through the empty house. I perk up as two people enter the room.
"Dad!" I say urgently.
I pause suddenly, my eyes turning to Nathalie. I can't talk about the miraculous in front of her. Dad seems to get the hint because he gestures for Nathalie to leave us. She nods respectfully and walks away. Once she is clear out of the room, I continue.
"Dad, where did you find your miraculous? And the spell book?" I ask.
"Zara, and I went travelling a lot, your mother that is. I sort creative inspiration from other cultures. It was on our trip to China that I found the spell book at some sketchy market." Dad answers. "I had no idea what it meant at the time, but the designs intrigued me so I bought it. Zara, however, immediately deciphered its meaning and recognised the miraculouses also for purchase. She always was intelligent. She insisted I buy us the matching pins, the peacock and the butterfly, but I never wore mine. It's not exactly the most fashionable thing..."
"And then what?" I persist.
"Well, I didn't actually find out what the miraculous were or who Zara was until she was caught up in the explosion of a burning building and the hero Le Paon mysteriously disappeared at the same time. Her power was in the mind, but I suppose she couldn't help trying to rush into a burning building to help the trapped people inside." Dad explains. "After her death, I was distraught and deeply saddened of course...It wasn't her job to save those people, but she did anyway. In that way, you are alike." My dad stops to smile sadly at me. Then, he takes a deep breath and continues. "That's when I tried on the butterfly pin she had picked out for me, just to remember her. Nooroo, the butterfly kwami, had explained the spell book's meaning and the ultimate power to me. And, as you know, I became obsessed and insane."
I rest a hand on my chin as I think over what my dad had said. If his story is true, then my mom's miraculous must have been lost in the fire, right? Maybe someone picked it up and has just now discovered its power...
"So, the peacock miraculous was lost in the fire?" I ponder aloud.
"No, I found it." Dad says. "It is currently in my possession."
"What?" I reply, my eyes widening.
It's been with him this whole time...how? He couldn't be...could he? H-He's changed. No, he wouldn't abuse my mother's legacy like that! He's my father, and I trust him.
I slam my hands on the table and shoot up from my seat. "Where?"
My dad blinks in surprise. "Uh, this way..." He says before leading me out the room and to moms portrait.
I stare at moms portrait fearfully. Someone has touched her...moved her aside and stolen her possessions.
"Open it." I demand.
"Why so urgent?" Dad asks as he unlocks the safe inside.
As soon as the safe clicks, I pull open it hastily. My heart stops as my eyes fall upon the empty shelf.
"It's gone..." I whisper.
It's strange, I feel somewhat...relieved. Enraged that someone has stolen my mother's miraculous, yes, but also so very grateful that my father isn't the villain.
I look up at my dad, who is staring at his safe, eyes wide with shock and sorrow.
"How...when?" He mutters. "Zara..."
"Dad..." I say solemnly. "Le Paon has returned...but this time, they aren't saving people."
My dad turns to me, his expression completely grief-stricken. I've never seen him so pained...is this how I looked when I found out as well? Marinette must have been so worried...
My dad doesn't have someone like Marinette to love him and comfort him. He doesn't have friends as caring as a great, big family...But he has me.
I step forward and hug my father gently. "Don't worry, Dad." I console him. "We'll get back mom's miraculous. I'm going to find whoever stole her identity and make them pay."
My dad wraps his arms around me and pulls me in tighter. "Don't think so bitterly, Adrien...you'll end up like me."
I smile softly. "They'll pay with justice. They'll get a fair trial in court and go to jail like they deserve."
"That's my son," Dad says as he strokes my head. "Go get them, Cat Noir."
I inhale a sharp breath of pleasant surprise. That's the first time I've heard him say Cat Noir's name so dearly. My dad has never acknowledged my other half...now he's finally trusting me to be the hero I can be. It must mean a lot, after what happened to mom...

[Narrator's POV]
Rena Rouge growls in frustration as she crosses her arms.
"What's up, Rena?" Asks Queen Bee.
"Nothing—that's what's up!" Rena Rouge answers, throwing her hands up angrily. "We just to sit around and do absolutely nothing until this guy makes the first move!"
"Or girl." Carapace speaks up. "Just sayin' we don't actually know what gender Le Paon is, you never know."
Rena Rouge narrows her eyes at Carapace, who shuts up immediately. She then crosses her arms once more and goes back to grumbling.
"Well, I don't know how we're supposed to find someone who does their dirty work through other people. Even Hawkmoth was—" Cat Noir catches himself. "Never found..." He recovers. "We didn't even manage to find Hawkmoth for that reason."
Ladybug of course knows that she and Cat Noir had found Hawkmoth only because he lead them to him in order to obtain both their miraculouses. He lead them to him using her.
"It would be dangerous to get too close to Le Paon when we don't know how they take control of people." Ladybug says. "If they manage to take you as a civilian it wouldn't be as risky because they wouldn't know what they have, but if Le Paon takes control over you in your superhero form they could make you de-transform."
"I feel so useless." Rena Rouge complains. "I just wonna fight something!"
"Shot not." Carapace responds, backing behind Queen Bee.
"I agree it's getting awfully quiet." Queen Bee says.
Right on cue, the sound of screeching tires and car horns erupts from the streets below. The five heroes quickly jump down to see what is going on. Two cars have sped to a stop after a near-collision, one of the drivers must not have been paying attention, but luckily there hasn't been a crash.
"Check the cars, make sure everyone is alright." Ladybug orders.
Carapace and Rena Rouge jog over to one car whilst Ladybug, Cat Noir and Queen Bee make their way to the other.
"Hello?" Ladybug calls out. "Are you alright?"
The car door opens and out steps a leg wearing luxuriously lavish heels. Next comes the body dressed in expensive, designer clothing. A woman much like a model stands up and gently flicks aside her gorgeous, golden hair.
"...Mom?"
