Jungkook knocks on Seokjin's door and he's instantly met with the sweet honey-like scent of the omega's whenever the door swings open. Seokjin is wearing a navy sweater with matching sweatpants, looking very cozy, but he deadpans at Jungkook as he holds out a familiar bottle of something—the antidote.
"Not even going to invite me in?" Jungkook asks.
"No." Seokjin's little hamster ears twitch, which is something that Jungkook finds cute every single time, especially whenever Seokjin's nose twitches at the same time. He gets distracted looking at them, so he's shocked when Seokjin shoves the antidote into his chest. "Take it. Hurry."
Jungkook takes the bottle from him and opens it, once again pouring just a dab of the liquid onto his tongue. Nothing feels different.
"Do you have to make the antidote based on the potion, or does this antidote work for every potion?"
Seokjin's face twists at his question. "It's based on whatever potion is used, of course. Why? Did it not work?"
"Of course not."
Rolling his eyes, Seokjin opens his apartment door wider. He's pouting as he says, "Come inside for a minute." Jungkook is a bit amused or excited, he isn't sure, but it feels rewarding to be invited into Seokjin's home.
When he walks in, the honey scent becomes stronger, and he glances over every inch of his home from the utensils in the kitchen to the soft material of his couch that they sit on. There's ingredients and bottles placed around Seokjin's coffee table, and he immediately leans in and gets to work, opening what seems to be a spellbook and flipping through the pages.
Jungkook would never usually admit something like this, but, "You look really cute when you concentrate."
Seokjin snarls at the book, not even sparing Jungkook a glance as he begins making another antidote. "Shut up." Even if he rejects the flirting, his hamster ears twitch and his cheeks dust pink. It's such a sight to see and Jungkook is so glad to just sit back, relax, and admire it.
"Even cuter when you blush." Of course, Jungkook is telling the truth—it's all he can do. And of course, Seokjin's scent becomes sweeter despite his groan, and it's always been like this. No matter how much Seokjin hates him or calls him annoying, he refuses to make eye contact or admit that Jungkook gets to him with his flirting.
"I'm trying to make this work, if you don't mind."
Jungkook presses his thigh up against Seokjin's. "You're doing pretty terrible at it," he says, and it's honestly the truth which is unfortunate for Jungkook because it only makes the omega's scent sour. He didn't mean to say it; he was going to tell Seokjin he's doing well. So, he changes his words up. "You're trying your best, though. I admire that."
Seokjin merely scoffs. "I'm sure you do." He leans back against the couch with the brand new antidote in his hands, lifting it up for Jungkook. "Take it before I puke at your flirting attempts."
"They aren't just attempts if they're working," Jungkook tells him as he grabs the antidote. Once again, the very untasty antidote has absolutely no affect on Jungkook. He tries to say I hate you and ends up saying I love you.
Groaning, Seokjin snatches the antidote right from Jungkook's hand, making his bunny ears fall flat as he fiercely glares at him. "If this is a joke, it's not funny, Jeon. Quit it."
"I'm not joking!" Jungkook argues back. "It's not my fault, I can't help that I like you."
"I know you can't," Seokjin whines out desperately. "Why did you have to come in and steal my drink? You're such a damn jerk, and now I can't even fix your stupid fake-love crisis. And that potion was a commission, so I can't send it to them until I know what's going on with the antidote. So if you're lying, tell me right now, Jeon Jungkook."
Jungkook lightly scoffs. "I wish I could lie," he says. "I told you your potion was wrong. I'm not messing with you, I just genuinely like you and your extremely gorgeous face and cute attitude. Is that a crime?"
"It's definitely a crime," Seokjin tells him, "because it's not real. And I know for a fact that my potion was made correctly, thank you very much. Why would I listen to you? You don't even know witchcraft. You've probably never made a potion in your life." He picks up a bottle from the coffee table. "See, what's this? I bet you don't even know—"
"Crushed rose petals?"
Seokjin stares blankly at Jungkook and then he looks at the tiny bottle. There's definitely crushed red roses in there because he scoffs. "That was an easy one. Just a lucky guess. Everyone knows that rose petals are a symbol for love."
"And you like roses?"
"Of course, I like roses." Seokjin rolls his eyes, but then he shoots yet another glare at Jungkook, who's smirking right back at him. "Don't you dare ever buy me a single rose, Jeon Jungkook. I don't like you and I never will, so stop flirting."
Jungkook throws his arm behind Seokjin, noting the subtle sweetness in the air, and then he takes the crushed roses right from Seokjin's fingertips, not without brushing their fingers together and smiling right at the omega. When Seokjin's eyes meet his, Jungkook smiles even bigger.
"Don't knock it 'til you try it," he tells him. "Come on, just let me love you until you figure this whole cure thing out. What's so bad about receiving some roses?" He shakes the crushed roses up a bit and Seokjin takes ahold of his wrist, making him come to a halt.
Slowly, Seokjin takes the bottle back, and Jungkook swears that Seokjin's fingers brush against his even more than Jungkook had done to him a second ago. "It's bad because it's you," the omega informs him lightly, letting go of his wrist and averting their eye contact as he goes to put the bottle back on the table. "Besides, I'm sure all your little friends wouldn't like that so much."
"None of my friends would mind me courting you."
Seokjin pinches the bridge of his nose. "Not your actual friends. I'm talking about all the omegas you have by your side. They practically kill for your attention."
Ah, yes. All the omegas, sometimes betas, and rarely alphas—the ones who want Jungkook. The ones who drape themselves onto him. The ones who, despite Jungkook's disinterest, always find their way by his side. And it's not literal; they don't literally stick onto Jungkook like glue or something. They just sit near him and fight for his attention, and sometimes pull their chair really close to his just to be close to the gorgeous alpha.
The day Jungkook had met Seokjin, there were omegas sitting on desks and chairs all around him, and it might have made Jungkook look like a player perhaps (especially when he told Seokjin to join them), but in all honesty, Jungkook isn't like that. That day, he'd just been telling everyone a story about what he'd done over the summer and they were all giggly and happy to hear his story; all except for Seokjin, of course.
It makes sense in Jungkook's mind: Kim Seokjin is the most gorgeous omega in the room, so he'd never stand a chance. He's probably taken. Even if he wasn't, Seokjin declined the offer to join their conversation and has hated Jungkook ever since then.
The least Jungkook can do is defend himself.
"I'm not some kind of fuckboy or whatever you think I am," he tells Seokjin, who simply rolls his eyes. "I'm serious. Out of all the omegas in the world, you're the one I want."
Seokjin's scent is soft and sweet, and he gently pushes back into the cushion of the sofa, almost letting Jungkook's arm fall onto his shoulder, but then his scent sours and his face twists as he crosses his arms over his chest.
"That's such a typical fuckboy line," he spits out angrily. "Just because you're an alpha, doesn't mean I want you. Get out of my apartment."
Jungkook's eyes widen. "Wha—"
"Get out. I couldn't care less if you're in love with me for the rest of your life. Go find someone else to fix this."
Jungkook sits up, removing his arm from behind Seokjin. "Wait." His bunny ears fall back as he turns to Seokjin, pleading with his big round eyes. "I-It's just the potion making me say these things." It's technically not a lie—though it is a lie in Jungkook's head. There is no love potion that's making him say these things, but it's what he tells Seokjin. "I'm sorry, okay? Please, I don't want to find someone else to fix this. I want you to."
Seokjin still has his arms crossed, but he at least glances at Jungkook. "Why? So you can flirt with me and annoy me?"
"Is the flirting that bad?"
It takes a few moments before Seokjin answers. "Yes."
"You hesitated."
"No, I did not."
Smiling, Jungkook reaches up and pushes a strand of Seokjin's bangs behind his ear, and the omega's scent spikes so heavenly despite the way he swats Jungkook's hand away. "Come on," Jungkook laughs out, "you know you like it. Just let me buy you some roses and maybe my poor in love alpha will be satisfied and the spell will go away."
"I will throw the roses away."
Jungkook shrugs. "At least your garbage will smell nice."
"Ugh. I'll return them back to you."
"Oh? You'll give me roses in return?"
Seokjin raises his hand to cover Jungkook's mouth, and all Seokjin can see is the bright look in Jungkook's amused eyes, but he can feel the smile against his palm.
"Gosh, I hate you."
It's muffled, but Jungkook tells him, "I love you, too."
