Love's Complicated - Chapter 5

That's Brittany ---->

Disgust crawled over Aden's skin when he got home and heard his father and a women upstairs. Anger crept into his veins, and he ran up to grab a pair of swimming shorts before changing and walking up to his dad's bedroom door.

“You're chickens burning.” Aden called out and walked back down the stairs and out the door, but not before hearing his father curse at him.

Reaching the beach, Aden stripped off his shirt and ran into the water, feeling the cold water placate him. He swam for several minutes, working out his frustrations and anger towards his dad. When he emerged from the water, a huge husky dog was waiting by his towel, wagging it's tail. Aden smiled, patting the dog on the head before a familiar voice called out to it.

“Storm! God you are the most annoying dog!” Tally shouted from further up the beach, and Aden grinned at her.

“I like him.” Tally shook her head, clutching a dog lead. “You can have him. I told the brute to sit once. He cocked his leg and piddled on the priests daughter.”

Aden laughed, and Tally joined in. When she reached him, they wandered along the beach

“Aden?”

“Yeah?”

“Please don't make Avery another girl on your belt.” Aden stared at her. “I've seen you two together, you're like magnets. Please, don't make her another Brittany.”

Aden already knew she meant more than Brittany. Much more.

“Is this like the threat talk from the dad, except you're doing it?”

Tally smiled. “Kind of, I guess. Look, just don't do anything stupid with her.” Tally walked off when Aden stopped, and he had a feeling she was warning him off one thing he wanted most. And that just made him want it more.

“Hippo's? What do hippo's have to do with Brittany?” Avery asked at her locker as Tally fumed beside her.

“She's going to look like one soon! One day, those protein drinks and celery will backfire, and that ass will be Texas!” Tally was furious, and Avery would be too, if someone told her she needed to become a size 8.

“But you're only a size 10.” Avery frowned, and Tally nodded. “I know! And at least I have a figure! She's like a stripper pole!”

“Tally, calm down.” Avery laughed, and Tally audibly growled.

“Okay. Fine. I'll see you in chem. We're going grocery shopping after school.” Tally said, still angry, but Avery knew she'd relax later. At least she was right about the figure thing.

Walking into history, Avery saw the girl herself and a wave of jealousy swam through her, before she squelched it. Brittany was pretty much lap dancing her history partner. Oh god, she couldn't believe she was thinking all possessively.

“Hey, Brittany?” Avery said when she reached the table, and Aden shot his head up, his eyes slightly distressed. Help me, they seemed to be saying.

“What?” She snapped, wrapping her arms around Aden's shoulders. He cringed.

“Why did you tell Tally she needed to lose weight?”

“Because, she does. Duh.” Brittany rolled her eyes and giggled at Aden, who frowned at her.

“No, she doesn't."

“Really? You look like you could lay off the pop-tarts too, Woods. They seem to be growing on your hips.” Avery smirked. She was normally a size 8 – 10.

The teacher clapped his hands together, and people went to their seats. Aden breathed a huge sigh of relief.

“Thank god you turned up.” He whispered, leaning in close.

“Like you weren't enjoying it.” She whispered back, and saw Aden smirk from the corner of her eye. His mouth grazed her ear as he spoke.

“I'd enjoy it if it were you.” Aden shot back, and he chuckled, happy with her discomfort.

“Oh Crucio.” She snapped whispered, then went beet red. Why, in moments like that, did she have to mimic Harry Potter spells. A beat of silence, then;

“Are you quoting Harry Potter? I mean, siriusly Avery.”

It took a couple of seconds for the comment to sink in, but when it did, Avery fought giggles. Aden chuckled with her. She couldn't believe he'd said that!

“Is that one of your many pick up lines.” He waggled his eyebrows. “Wanna hear another one?”

“I'm all ears, Weasley."

“Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?” Avery choked on her own laughter.

“How about, are those space pants? Coz your ass is out of this world.” Aden grinned as he thought of his next one.

“Oh, and one of my favourites, my love for you is like diarrhoea, I just can't hold it in!”

Avery couldn't help it. She cracked up. Aden sshed her, but he wasn't quick enough because the teacher spun and glared at them.

“Miss Woods, Mr Shaw, what is so funny?”

Aden shrugged as if he didn't know, and Avery managed to control her laughter enough for him to turn back to the board.

“Smooth.” She chortled, and Aden chuckled. “Just one more. If you were a booger, I'd pick you first.”

And that's how Avery found herself sitting in her first ever detention with the pick up line master himself.

God, he really couldn't believe how he'd been partnered with her. She was so beautiful. He could just watch her, without feeling bored. She was a little insecure, but underneath that was a layer of confidence you had to coax out. Then her smart wit and humour made her all the more attractive. And god, those legs! Aden smiled to himself as he was walking out of school. It had been two weeks since she'd shown up, and for those two weeks he'd found his mind on her so much it almost scared him.

Tonight, Blake was having a party, and he was hoping she'd show. He could feel the excitement already, and knowing he wouldn't be dancing until she showed, he went home to shower. At seven he turned up to Blake's house, music already blaring. Drinks were already being passed around and he knew it was going to be a great party. Aden was staying at Blake's house, having not seen his father since the day he heard him and a woman screwing, and decided he didn't want his mood ruined by him.

An hour and a half later, and he was already growing shitty. Where the hell was she? And then he saw her. His body tensed in anticipation, and then in anger when he saw Scott's hand on her lower back, guiding her through the people like she was his.

No way he was letting another guy touch his girl.

Walking towards them, he took in her dress, and almost groaned in approval. It was a black fabric that fell to mid thigh and sloped slightly between the breasts. When he rose his eyes to her face again, the first feelings of need rising, he saw her watching him, biting her lip.

“Hey, Aden!” Scott yelled over the music, but he didn't even look at him.

“Scott, can I borrow Avery for a minute?” Aden asked, although there was no doubt in anyone's mind he meant 'I'm borrowing her for a minute.' Before he could reply, Aden was dragging Avery along with him.

“Hi to you too.” Avery said sarcastically, and Aden smirked. There was no way he was letting her out of his sight.

“Hi.” He said, pulling her in by her hips. Avery gasped as her chest collided with his, and suddenly they were dancing. She watched his eyes grow darker, watched as his face changed from amusement to greed. She had been shocked by his heavy stare when she arrived, and it was hitting her fully now, the sensual invitation behind it.

The song changed to a faster beat, and Avery decided to let loose a little. Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pushed closer to him, feeling his growl of approval. His hands slipped from her waist to her hips, dangerously close to her backside. And suddenly, she rocked her hips against his. He froze, and a second of fear passed through her before he did the same thing. Avery fought a moan, and pushed a hand into his hair, grasping the silky locks. He leaned down, his breath uneven by her ear. And Avery knew she wanted to kiss him, like she had never kissed before. His lips found her neck, and she jumped. They swept over her throat, and she shuddered. They felt so good.

“Wait.” She breathed, pulling away slightly. She knew she was being nuts, but a more rational side was calling out to her, telling her to stop.

“What?” His voice was husky, and she knew if she didn't let go soon, she might just find herself upstairs with him. But she'd heard a few stories about him. He may be nice and charming and downright sexy, but many of his girls had been like Brittany, and that little voice that made her feel insecure had been telling her that he'd just use her too.

A whoosh of air and suddenly Avery was dancing with Tally. She was laughing, watching Aden over Avery's shoulder.

“Sorry dude, but she's with me!” Tally yelled, and Avery shrugged, turning and smiling at Aden. He smirked, arms folded across his chest, and watched her. It made her feel wanted.

“He so likes you!” Tally said in her ear as they danced, and Avery shook her head. Then Tally's face looked confused, then slightly angry. “What?” Avery asked, and before Tally could stop her turning, Avery saw the two of them, and her heart crashed to the bottom of her shoes.

Brittany was wrapped all over him, kissing him with such ferocity that Avery could only stare in shock. It hurt even more to see that Aden didn't pull away, not at first. Then his eyes connected with hers. She felt the tears burning in the back of her mind but no way was she crying in front of him. Turning away from him, she sought out Scott, and asked for a ride home. Tally linked her arm with hers, and turned just in time to see Aden shove Brittany off him. Avery didn't see it though. She was staring numbly ahead, her eyes a void with no emotion.

The car ride was quiet. Avery almost laughed at herself. Aden hadn't been nice to her because he liked her, or because he wanted her. He just wanted another Brittany. Tally wrapped an arm around her friends shoulders as she thanked Scott and they entered Avery's empty house.

“Look, he was probably drunk, and Brittany would always take that as her chance.” Tally soothed, but Avery just shook her head.

“It shouldn't hurt this much, Tally. I mean for god-sake I've only known him for two weeks!” Avery cried, throwing her hands up. Tally cocked her head.

“Technically, you've known him most of you life.”

“Not helping.”

“Sorry.” Tally smiled sheepishly. “I'll go get the ice cream and spoons, you pick the chick flick.”

---------------------

Okay, so I felt like the story needed a bit of a drama in it. So bam. There's your little dose of drama. Oh no, Aden, you're a silly boy!
