Prologue
Justin's car aka his Baby^^^
Song:Shape of You by Ed Sheeran
Hey you, yeah you *points at the reader*, I know you skipped the intro but I just wanted to say this.
Always know that your smile and laughter are the most beautiful sight this world has ever seen. So keep smiling and be happy!!
Have a nice day, and I'll shut up for now since you have to read my book.
Justin
"Bro, Senior year's starting tomorrow. Want to grab something at McDonald's?" River's voice crackled over the phone.
"Yeah sure, will be there in ten," I replied, gliding down the marble staircase.
"Cool. And don't forget, the bet's back on," he said before the line went dead. I slid my sleek iPhone into my pocket with a smirk. Another year, another bet. Love was a game, and I played it well, but the stakes were getting higher.
With honey-brown eyes and a sharp jawline, I was called a "Greek God." It's a label I've embraced, notorious for my player ways.
Alongside my three best friends—we're the core of the popular crowd. Girls practically worship the ground we walk on. Sometimes I feel a pang of guilt for playing with their hearts, but first love and all those shit don't exist in real life.
A rusty frame with familiar faces stares back at me. After Dad passed away, running Laurel Companies fell on me. I work hard to make him proud, earning straight As on my report card—except for English. My English teacher, Mrs. Black, glares at me like I shot her pet panda. She's unfairly partial to her daughter, Sophia, who seems to delight in threatening the girls I date.
Honestly, I don't even know what I did. After knowing my name in Junior year, she has a grudge against me like the Grinch in English class. So I'm told that she gives good grades to only her daughter Sophia Black and her acquaintances.
But hey, the Grinch's daughter is also the trident of Satan. Little does she know, I don't date devils.
The cliché bad boy of every tale? That was my role, scripted and performed to perfection.
The bet was simple. Make a girl fall in love with you and get her to confess before prom. hey always chose the elusive ones for me, but I was growing tired of the same old game.
I want something more lately, like a challenge. A dare.
Clutching the keys, I headed to my Audi A5, a gift from my dad for my 16th birthday. The only living reminder that we have to move on from the past is that death is inevitable but we've got to continue living.

The parking lot at McDonald's was packed. As I manoeuvred into the last spot, a white car swerved in, hitting the back of my car. My dad's car. Fury surged through me as I jumped out, ready to confront the driver.
Sweat starts trickling down my spine as a wave of anger rushes past me. I know I probably look like Godzilla right now but this car is the only thing of Dad that's left with me.
I turn to see the person who caused this damage, only to find a trembling petite girl with wide, innocent eyes staring back at me.
"What the fuck did you do to my car?" I growled, thinking about the unforgettable.
"I'm so sorry, I was in a hurry and didn't realize th-that....." She trailed off, her voice barely a whisper but all I could see was red.
"Ugh, why the hell do they give you all a license when you clearly don't know to drive the damn thing ?" I snapped, running a hand through my hair. The damage was done—a dent and some scratches.
"I'll get it repaired, I promise," she offered, her eyes wide with fear.
"Just get out of my sight," I barked. She vanished in an instant.
Whoa, that was so quick.
Maybe I went too hard on her, but she seemed genuinely sorry. I don't even know why I let go of this girl.
I sighed and found another parking spot.
After all, everybody makes mistakes, right?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As soon as I stepped into McD's, all eyes turned toward me. I knew the effect I had, and the confidence in my stride matched the song StarBoy playing in my head. I scanned the room, taking in familiar faces from school.
Among them, I spotted the girl from the parking lot. She froze when she saw me, her wide eyes darting away quickly.
Spotting my friends, I made my way over, eager to catch up and discuss the impending bet. We greeted each other with our usual handshake and grabbed a seat.
"What took you so long mate?" asked Adrian, leaning back casually.
Adrian, our tech wizard, always had our backs when it came to hacking.
"Oh, just a girl," I began, noting their immediate smirks.
Their eyebrows shot up in unison, and I couldn't resist the opportunity to mess with them.
Dirty-minded idiots, I swear.
"Not that way you idiots, let me complete. She scratched my car in the parking lot with a dent."
"Wait, was it your dad's Audi A5?" River asked, his burger paused mid-bite.
"Yeah, the one and only," I replied, feeling a lot calmer than I had moments ago.
"So, she's going to get it fixed, right?" Logan asked, sipping his Coke.
"Nope, I let her get away with it." I said smirking and waited for their 'WHAT' reaction.
"WHAT?" Adrian and River exclaimed in unison while Logan spewed his coke on the girl in front of us. She glared at us for a moment, then turned back to her friends.
"You heard me. It was an accident, and she seemed genuinely sorry," I explained, stealing a few fries from River's tray.
They exchanged a knowing look. "Someone's got a crush..." they teased in unison, smug grins on their faces.
"Shut up. Now, let's get down to business," I said, steering the conversation back to the bet.
As we discussed our game plan, my mind kept drifting back to the girl from the parking lot. There was something about her innocence that intrigued me, a stark contrast to the girls I usually went for.
"Okay, you remember the rules, right? You can't back out, and most importantly, you can't fall for her. This year, we decided to make it a real challenge," Adrian said, looking me in the eye.
"Yeah yeah, I know. Just tell me her name already."
Let's get to business.
"Her name's Layla. She's here, actually," River said, pointing behind me.
"Where? I can't wait to get started," I said, turning to look.
"There, the one in the blue top. Wait for her to turn around," Logan said, nodding towards her.
She turned sideways towards her friend and that was enough for me to figure out.
"Oh shit!" I exclaimed, running my hands over my face.
Karma indeed had a twisted sense of humour.
"It's the same girl from the parking lot."
Little did I know, this bet would be unlike any other, and Layla Adams was about to turn my world upside down.
