Author's Pov:

"I am hungry", Jisoo whined. "I'll go and make something. It is also lunch time so", Y/n said. "I'll come and help you", Yuna and Soojin stood up to help her but Y/n said, "It's okay. I'll do, it is nothing much. If I need help I'll call you".

"You sure? I will help you", Yuna said but Y/n politely declined. After Y/n went, "Vernon, go and help your wife, go , go", Mingyu pushed him inside.

While working a pair of hands wrapped around her waist. At first she flinched at the sudden contact but, "Shh, it's me Vernon", he whispered near her ear. She felt a tingling sensation running down her spine. "What are you making anyways", she felt him keeping his head on her shoulder.

"Just a kimchi stew amd rice, you want something else?", she closed the vessel with lid amd turned around facing Vernon. "But why are you here? Did they leave you?", Vernon clicked his tongue shaking his head.

"Nope, they sent me in to help you. Anyways, they will end up debating about something", He said. Y/n didn't ask about what as he answered, "For example, What if humans can fly like birds". Y/n laughed.

"I can't believe you are my wife now", Vernon closing the distance. "I am glad you are my husband", Y/n smiled. Both closed their eyes leaning forward. Their lips were about to touch but

"Vernon", Soojin yelled. She came inside, "Vernon, you are here. Can you give us water? What are you doing there?", Soojin asked.

"Umm, I came here to take bottles for you all. Your throat might have dried yelling at them, right? You go, I'll bring bottles", Vernon said pointing behind. Soojin looked at him, "But the fridge is here", Soojin pointed behind her back, "But the place you are pointing is oven. Don't tell me you are keeping it inside the oven".

Vernon threw an apple at her, "Here, take it. Don't ask questions. I'll bring the water bottles". Soojin caught the apple, "Hmm", she took a bite of apple and went away.

"Sorry", he kissed her forehead and took some water bottles for them. Y/n nodded. He came back and pecked her lips, "Will be back soon". After Vernon went Y/n gave a shy smile.

Unknown to them a pair of eyes were watching her, filled with guilt. She regretted doing everything in her anger.

Y/n's eyes landed on her, "Areum?". She came inside, "Umm, I am going back. Something came up. The others were busy so I thought of telling you", the tension between them could be easily felt. Y/n nodded, "Why don't you have lunch and go? It is already done".

Areum thought for a second and agreed. "Hmm, Can I help you?", She asked. Y/n shook her head, "I can do it", Y/n shortly answered.

"I and my Eomma had huge fight yesterday", Areum started, "She did things she shouldn't have said. I hate her".

Y/n was quiet. She decided to ignore it. "I am sorry", Areum said. Hearing her saying sorry, Y/n mistakenly touched the hot vessel.

"Ouch", the vessel fell from her hand. "Shit!", Areum took Y/n's hand to sink and ran cool water.

"What-", Vernon ran beside her taking Y/n's hand in his, "How did this happened? Where was your mind?".

"Did you do this?", Siwoo asked. Areum shook her head, "Why would I do something like that?", she defended herself.

"No. She didn't do. I was just zoning out so I burnt my hand nothing else", Y/n clarified. "Is it paining", Vernon asked. Y/n shook her head, "It is common thing while cooking, Vernon".

"Here, the lotion. Apply it. It will help her to ease the pain", Areum quietly slided the lotion. "Apply some ice too", Siwoo suggested earning a smack on head by Jisoo.

"Idiot, you shouldn't do that. It may further increase the damage", Jisoo explained. Siwoo nodded and rubbed his head.

"Guys, I am totally fine. It is just a minor burn. It will heal in few days", Y/n said. "Now you sit here and tell us what to do. We will do. You don't get up", Yuna said.

Areum went out, she smiled sadly realising that no one noticed her absence, "I should have known before that everything can't be same as before".

"Where is Areum?", Yuna asked. "She went", Mingyu said, "I saw her going out. Now don't ask me, why I didn't stop her cause even I don't know".

"No, She said that she had some work. So, she might have gone there"

Time skip,
(Night time)

"It will take some time, till then maybe you can go to the nearest cafe. It is actually good", Y/n said.

Harin had called Y/n saying there was an urgent work, so Vernon decided to tag along. She asked him to come with her but he thought it will be boring to be there while they are working.

"Yep. Just call me once things are done. By the way what is the name of cafe?", he asked. "Night cafe", he nodded and went to the that cafe. "Umm, one latte", he ordered.

Within 15 mintues Y/n finished his work. "What happened? Whom are you calling?", Harin asked.

"Vernon. He is not picking up", She called him, "I think I need to go there. Good night", she patted the Harin's back and ran to the cafe.

After reaching there, she saw the crowd. She couldn't see properly what was going on, "Excuse what happened here?", She asked a passerby.

"Oh dear, the cafe caught fire because of short circuit. Some of them were still inside, some were saved. I don't know much", the old man said.

Y/n's heart dropped, "Vernon came here". She ran futher pushing the crowd.

"Everyone was saved except 3, one man who was customer and the other two were the staff. Both were females", He heard someone saying that.

She called him again, but his phone was switched off. Her heart was beating fast, breathe was uneven. She was praying for his safety. She wanted to go further but was stopped by officer, "You can't go near. It can be dangerous"

"O-Officer, M-my husband was here", Y/n stuttered, her mind was not working properly. Unwanted thoughts came to her mind. His phone was switched off, she didn't knew where he was, the cafe he went was on fire, a man died because of that. Tears flooded her eyes.

"We are doing our best, miss. We have rescued many. They have been sent to hospital for further check up. Your husband might be there", the officer said seeing Y/n's condition.

"He is okay", she comforted herself, "He must be somewhere near. It was just a nightmare and nothing else".

She started finding him nearby. As time went her eyes filled with tears. Her phone rang, she saw the caller name, "Vernon".

She picked up, "H-hello.. W-Where are you?", she asked. "I am near your office but where are you. Your-", Y/n hanged up the call.

Vernon stood there in confusion. "She sounded different", he mumbled. He saw the message

"Night cafe caught fire"

"What!", he whispered knowing if he almost escaped it. "Vernon!", Y/n came running and engulfed him in a tight hug.

Vernon understood what was happening. Her head was on his chest, he could feel her fast heart beats. "I am sorry. My phone went on flight mode", he whispered.

"You are fine right?", she asked checking on him. She sighed in relief seeing him fine, "I am totally fine".

"You could have checked your phone! You know how much worried I was", she screamed. The thought of losing the close ones always haunted her. "Y/n, I am fine", he kissed her forehead.

"I tried calling you so many times but you didn't pick up. I know how much worried I was?", she repeated.

"Y/n", he hugged her, "Calm down. I am fine. I left that cafe before that happened. I didn't even knew something like that happened".

"I don't want to lose you too, Vernon. I was afraid, it felt like my nightmare was coming true", she whispered against his chest. His shirt was slowly getting wet because of her tears. He slowly rubbed her back.

Y/n was quiet the whole time until they reached home. She was still not over it. After coming home, "Is it okay if I sleep while hugging you?", Y/n asked while laying down on the bed.

Vernon nodded and opened his arms for her. Without a second thought Y/n hugged him. "I am sorry for screaming there", she murmured. "It's fine", he said caressing her hair.

"Vernon, I don't understand", she said. Vernon looked at her and raised his eye brows. "Everytime I do something, you always cope with it, especially my anger issues. You say it is fine. Why do you do that?".

"Because"

"Because?"

Vernon leaned in, "Because I love you". He pecked her lips. Y/n pulled him, "I love you too", she whispered against his lips. Their lips slightly touching.

Vernon pulled her more closer, "You are looking more beautiful", he whispered. Y/n blushed. Vernon slowly kissed her. Soon the gentle kiss turned into a steamy one. "Can we?", Vernon asked. Y/n nodded without hesitation.

That was the night when the two souls became one...
