Thirty-four

I parked my car outside Kevin's house and got out, not before looking at my makeup one last time in the mirror. I wore a black full sleeves top, with a leather skirt and knee-length boots. The party was already started as I entered. Music blared in the background.

I went inside and saw a line form in the kitchen, my brows knitted in confusion, and followed my gaze towards the line and saw Darren and Emily in front making drinks.

Emily saw me staring and waved her hand, calling me. "Lexi, come here!" She beamed, looking enthusiastic.

This was the first time I saw Emily happy at a party.

"What are you guys doing?" I wondered and stood with them in front. I watched as Darren made drinks by mixing other things and handing them to everyone.

"Kevin asked Darren to be the bartender," Emily said, looking at Darren, "and I'm helping him."

"Hi, Lexi." Darren greeted me as he passed me a drink. I arched my brow at him, darting my eyes between the drink and Darren. "It's virgin strawberry daiquiri. Em told me like it."

I picked up the drink and looked at Emily in amusement. "Thank you, Em." I teased her. She blushed and ducked her head down, I sipped my drink and my eyes widened. "Wow." I looked at Darren. "This is good."

"Thanks." He gave me a cheeky smile and got to make drinks for others. "I'm enjoying this. Maybe I found my profession." Emily and I laughed at him.

My eyes wandered in the kitchen for Noah, but he was nowhere to be found. "He's serving drinks outside," Emily whispered beside me.

"Who?" I blinked my eyes at her, acting oblivious.

She gave me a smirk, then her eyes darted behind me. "The one you're looking for."

"I wasn't looking for anyone," I mumbled, slowly turned around and my breath hitched when saw Noah entering.

My eyes roamed over his body slowly. He wore a white shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbow, with a black vest and pants, a red tie around his neck, and his blond hair neatly combed back. He was dressed as a waiter and damn, I'd love to get served by him.

I owe Kevin for this.

"Hi." I greeted Noah as he got near.

He cast a glance at me and nodded his head in acknowledgment. Placing his tray on the counter, he turned towards Darren. "Are they ready?"

Darren nodded his head and placed more drinks on his tray. He picked it up and turned on his heels, leaving. I looked at him in confusion.

What? I just got a nod?

"Something happened between you two?" Emily asked as she curiously looked at Noah.

"No," I muttered, gulping my drink. "I think he's angry because of my message."

"That was stupid what you did you know." She gave me a stern look.

"Don't give me that lecture again, Em." I groaned.

In the morning, I called Emily and told her about my message and whatever happened. She gave me almost an hour of lecture on how stupid I can be sometimes, and now I want to clear things up. After that Jax called asking to pick me up for the party, but I refused. I didn't want dad to meet him and talk, otherwise, dad will get confused and I didn't want him meddling in my mess. It was better if he doesn't know about this. Besides, I was going to end things with Jax tonight.

I know I told him to do it till he gets Ivy, but I couldn't do this anymore.

I placed my glass on the counter and left Emily and Darren working together.

I entered the living room and looked around for Jax when a certain bit*h stepped in front of me.

"Lexi!" She exclaimed, with a huge grin on her face. "Long time no see!" Someone looked blissful tonight.

"And I think it was better that way," I grunted and stepped aside to go around her, but she came in front.

"What's the rush?" She pouted. "Aren't you happy to see your old friend?"

I sighed, massaging my forehead. "Get to the point, Ivy." Loud music blared in the background as I looked around and saw Noah serving drinks in the living room.

"I thought you must be happy now that you finally made Jax your puppy." I arched my brow at her. "Want to celebrate your victory?" I blinked my eyes in confusion at her.

She wants to celebrate that I got Jax?

"Ivy." I stepped closer, putting my hand on her forehead. "Are you sick or something?"

"Pft! What, no!" She hiccupped, covering her mouth. "I'm perfectly fine." She purred. I rolled my eyes at her.

Of course, she's drunk.

"How much did you exactly drink and why are you alone? Where's Vanessa?" I asked, looking around her.

"She didn't come saying she hates Emily's guts," Ivy muttered, whirling on her heels she lost her balance falling to the other side.

I grabbed her arm and straightened her. "Look, Ivy. I seriously don't have time for you right now. Why don't you make it easy for me and sit down, somewhere in the corner?"

"Why will I make it easy for you when you always made it hard for me?" She narrowed her dark brown eyes at me.

"Then do whatever you want." I snapped and left her standing.

I had to fight the urge to turn around and go back to her, but she wasn't my responsibility, nor was she my friend. I don't care whatever she does after getting drunk like that.

I made my way towards the living room and saw Jax, Jim, Natasha, and everyone else sitting on the couch.

"Hi. You made it!" Jax exclaimed, patting the space beside him. "Come on, we're playing never have I ever." He gave me a toothy grin and from the look he gave me, it was clear that he was tipsy.

Why everyone's getting drunk tonight?

"Jax, I need to talk to you," I said, folding my arms around my chest.

"Yeah, go ahead." He gestured to me, blinking his eyes at me.

I gave him a tight smile, looking around as everyone stared at me. "Alone."

"You can say anything you want here." Jim grinned at me.

"It's personal." I glared at him.

This entire conversation reminded me of the first time Jax came to offer me his deal. Guess all of this is ending in the same way.

"Ok." Jax got up from his place clumsily and walked to me. I turned around to take him somewhere quiet but halted at Kevin's voice.

"Hola Mia amigos!" I turned around and saw him standing with the DJ with a mic in his hands. "I'm sure you're all having fun!" Everyone screamed 'yeahs' and hooted.

"We all know the reason I threw this party tonight and for those who didn't know it was because Lexi and I won the bowling competition!" I rolled my eyes at his exaggeration, "and also because our exams are starting after a week and it will stress everyone out to study, so we deserve a break before it, right?!"

The crowd cheered as he continued his speech. I turned my head towards Jax. "We should go to Kevin's room."

He smiled at me mischievously and waggled his brows. "Kevin's room, huh?" He turned and went towards the stairs. I followed him, looking at the back of his head in confusion.

What was that about?

I mid-paused in my steps when I heard Kevin saying something about Noah. "Noah, our friend who also lost the game is our slave, and he'll do whatever I say-"

"Are you coming?" My eyes darted to Jax as he stood at the top of the stairs.

"One minute." I turned my head towards Kevin.

"... and Noah is now going to play beer pong tonight!" I squeezed my eyes shut and growled.

Is he out of his mind?!

"Lexi?"

I slightly turn my head as he stood behind me. "We'll talk about this later." I stepped forward to beat the shit out of Kevin but was stopped by Jax as he grabbed my arm.

"Where are to going?"

"To save Noah from Kevin," I replied and moved forward, but his grip tightened around my arm.

"I'm sure he will be alright, let's go." He dragged me upstairs with him, I stood on the step and pulled my arm back out of his grip. He stopped and turned around.

"Kevin's making Noah play beer pong." I glared at Jax. "You and I both know that Noah doesn't drink."

"Yeah, I know." He shrugged his shoulders. "And he is old enough to take care of himself, besides you wanted to talk about something."

"Yeah, and it can wait." I turned and descend the stairs when Jax continued.

"Lexi!"

"What?!" I turned and glared at him.

He looked at me in disbelief. "You're just going to leave me like this?!" I looked at him in confusion.

He drank too much that it went straight to his brain cells.

"I'll talk to you later, Jax." I sternly answered him. He matched my glare.

"So what now, I'm not important anymore?!"

Yup, his cells are definitely damaged.

"Noah is more important." I calmly said boring my eyes into his confused blue ones and turned around going toward Noah.
