Fifty-two

I blinked my eyes at Ivy. "Don't act like you didn't already know." She scoffed.

"I knew that... but I thought it was because I'm prettier than you." She looked at me deadpan, then sighed.

"I used to admire you when I first met you and wanted to become your friend because of that... confident and strong vibe you gave."

"And then when I became close to you, I unconsciously compared my life with yours. The sweet relation you had with your parents made me jealous and the fact that you had amazing friends to support you. After a while, everything about you made me jealous."

I bit my lip as I watched Ivy blurting her guts out.

She let out a dry laugh. "And when I found Jax liked me over you. It was a boost to my ego that I was better than you and... did things..." She trailed off, gulping.

"We all did stupid things were aren't proud of," I admitted.

I was not proud of the deal I made with Jax just to make her jealous.

"Now I'm getting slut-shame for that." She gave me a sad smile. "You reap what you saw right."

I nodded my head, and we went silent for a while. "I never knew you hated me for that."

"I started hating you when you took the guy I liked away." She muttered under her breath, but I heard her.

"What?" I looked at her dumbfounded.

"No-nothing." She gave a nervous laugh.

"Yes, you did..." My brows shot up when I joined the dots. "Kevin?" She looked at me horrified confirming my thoughts."You like Kevin?!"

"I said nothing-" I broke up laughing.

"OMG! I seriously wasn't expecting that!"

"Shut up." She groaned, rubbing her hands over her face. "Just don't tell anyone."

"Sure..." I pressed my lips in amusement.

"I'm serious!" She said sternly.

I covered my mouth, giggling, then halted. "Wait..." I tilted my head in confusion. "If you like Kevin, why did you sleep with-"

"I never wanted that to happen." She hesitated. I waved my hands, urging her to continue. "I was in the bathroom vomiting my guts out in the room when I heard Emily and Darren helping Jax into the room. When they left, I got out...Jax and I talked for a while and I don't even remember what we were talking about then...one thing led to another... sleeping with Jax was not my plan."

"I saw you both drunk that night so whateva..." I shrugged.

"You aren't angry about it?" She wondered.

If I still liked Jax, I would have buried her alive, but it didn't matter now.

"I'm mad because it ruined my reputation," I muttered. "Did you guy talked after that?"

She shook her head. "It got pretty awkward in the morning when we woke up and then Kevin burst in beating Jax to a pulp. I tried to stop him but it didn't work so I tried to call Noah-"

"That's why you called him?" I asked. I remembered her calling Noah that day when we were at his house practicing out the recipe.

"Yeah..." She looked at me in confusion.

"I was with Noah when you called and I thought you were..."

"I was what?" She urged me to speak.

"I thought you were trying to come between us like you did with Jax." I blurted.

She chuckled. "Noah is a great guy and I like him-"

"Don't you dare utter that word," I growled and stepping closer to her.

"- as a 'friend'." She completed and looked at me in amusement.

"Oh!" Heat crawled up my neck at my unnecessary outburst. She gave me a lopsided grin. I cleared my throat and changed the topic to her. "Did you at least enjoy it?" I teased.

"I'm not going to tell you the details." Her eyes grew enormous.

"Ew..." I scrunched my nose in disgust. "I'm not asking for that either." I cringed.

"Pervert... and I don't even remember half of what happened, just that it hurt like bit*h."

"Wait..." I looked at her in disbelief. "It was your first time with him!"

"Yeah..." She mumbled, scratching her head. "Did you knew it hurt that bad?"

"I don't know." I shrugged.

"You...you are saying that you haven't done..." Her eyes bugged out. "But you dated all the time!"

I rolled my eyes and scoffed. "I dated a lot but found no one worthy enough to be with."

"And now you have." She gave me a sly smirk.

My mind went straight to Noah, and I shrugged, looking at my shirt. "If my shirt is clean, I need to get going."

"Yeah here." She handed me my top, and I turned around to leave when I halted at her voice. "Oh, and Lexi... I'm sorry about your mom, I swear I didn't know about her..."

I looked at her in confusion. "How do you know that-" My eyes grew in realization. "You were at the treehouse that day."

"I wasn't stalking you or anything..." She shuddered. "I was there first and saw you so I hid but was curious what you were doing there."

"You kept that place right?"

"Yeah... Whenever things got crazy with dad I would go there." She gave me a sad smile. "That place was escaping from the bullsh*t reality."

"Yeah..." I returned her smile. "And thanks for not telling anyone else about that and also for the whole-" I waved my hand, "- therapy thing."

"I kept it to myself for using it when I needed it in the future, so don't thank me." She turned her head, trying to hide her blush.

"Of course you did." I giggled. "Oh, and don't think we are friends or anything after this chat."

"I'm not interested in that position." She gave me a side glance.

"Hope to never see you again, bit*h." I grinned.

"Same to you, doll." She smirked.

This is not how I imagined my day to be.

I turned around to leave but stopped in my steps when my stomach growled. Glancing at Ivy who had a teasing smile. I ignored her and asked.

"Where's my free food?"

I stood in front of my mirror finishing my makeup. It was finally Noah's performance day and Kevin was coming to pick me. Dad got some emergency work because of that he couldn't come with us.

I glanced at my flower-printed, off-shoulder black top that I wore with a white skirt and black ankle strap heels. I ran downstairs when I heard Kevin's car horn.

"You're late." I scolded him as soon as I got in his car.

"What's the rush?" He arched his brows at me, starting his car.

"I want to meet Noah before the show." I huffed.

"Why?"

"Because... I want to wish him luck." He chuckled. I narrowed my eyes at him. "If my car was working, I wouldn't have even called you."

"I know... you don't even bother to call me without needing something." He complained.

My gaze softened. "It's not like that, Kevin-"

"It is." He cut me off. "Since this year started, we haven't hung out like before. First, you were busy with Jax and now Noah." He grunted.

"Kevin..." I placed my hand on his arm. "I'm sorry it's just... complicated."

"Right." He mumbled, and we went silent after that. I sat looking outside, feeling guilty. Kevin was right, and it was my fault.

The whole way to the bar we didn't utter a single word to each other. I got out of his car and we went together inside.

The interior of the bar was changed, and they formed a proper stage on which a group of guys was singing. I sighed.

We are late.

"There's Emily." I followed my gaze to where Kevin pointed and saw Emily waving at us. I walked towards her but paused when I found myself alone. Turning around, I saw Kevin going back.

"Where are you going?" I asked, following him.

"Home." He shrugged. "I think my work here is done, you can go back with Emily." I gaped at him.

"I didn't call you to be my chauffeur, Kevin."

"Oh, really." He mocked.

I sighed. "I'm sorry for not spending time with you, but please don't do this... I'll make it up to you." He folded his arms and huffed. "I promise."

"And what are you going to do?"

"Whatever you want," I said without thinking.

He stared at me for a second, then his lips curved into a mischievous grin. "Whatever I want, huh?"

"Don't push, Kevin." I sternly said.

"Fine." He smirked. "I'll think of something good for you later." He linked our arms. "First, we need to enjoy this show."

I looked at him in disbelief. "You are such a drama queen!"

"You still love me." He winked as we reached Emily and Darren. I chuckled, glancing at my friend.

That I do.
