I saw you as I entered the amusement park,
Looked up from my phone and you were standing there,
You waved at me and smiled bright as ever,
I felt my heart skip a beat as you came over,
You hugged me tight and I could not believe that you were real.

You pulled back far too soon,
Although I wasn't too disappointed as you slipped your hand into mine,
And led me over to ride the train with you,
As I knew today was going to be the best day ever,
After all I was finally getting to spend it with you.

I wanted to hold your hand the whole time we were on the train,
My brain still couldn't quite grasp the fact that you were here,
That we were actually together in person,
I was indescribably happy and still so nervous,
I think I may have stared at you a little too much but your eyes were so pretty in person.

You looked at me as the train moved,
You smiled and you joked about how I was still always so quiet,
You're always the more talkative of the two of us,
It reminded me a lot of our video calls,
And then it was even easier to slip into conversation with you.

We searched all over for food together,
When I noticed a photo booth and I just had to ask if we could go,
I felt bad when I realized how crammed the booth was but you didn't seem to mind too much,
The entire time we were taking photos I thought about kissing your cheek but I was too much of a wimp to ask if that was okay,
So when you laid your head on my shoulder for a photo I was over the moon with joy.

When we finally found food I was far too excited to eat anything,
Just sitting down with you and reveling in the fact that we were together,
Watching you sit across from me and pick at food you didn't even want,
Loving your smile, laugh, and eyes,
Having fun as we fed the birds your fries despite all the signs that told us not to.

I wasn't too sad as the day was almost over,
Just happy with the fact I got to see you at all,
Seeing you in person was even better than I'd hoped,
Your eyes, laugh, smile, we're all even better in person,
And god your hugs were unbelievably amazing.

As we walked to the front of the park to wait for your family you said something that made my breath catch in my throat,
You told me 18 years was far too long to go without a first kiss,
And you lead me to a shaded area with a table in a corner tucked away from the rest of the park,
We sat there for a while talking before you stood and asked if there was any sign of your parents,
I looked behind you and saw nothing.

Then your lips were on my cheek and gone again before I could really process,
And it left me entirely stunned and pleased,
I couldn't believe this wasn't all some absolutely amazing dream,
I didn't expect another kiss on my lips this time,
But I certainly couldn't say it wasn't one of the best moments in my entire life.

You laughed at my stunned demeanor and I grinned along,
Hiding my face as you told all of our friends how you had 'broken me,'
Leaving me to explain to them how you had somehow made this amazing day even better,
Smiling and giggling with you every few moments,
Extremely glad I had been able to come that day to see you.

We walked to the entrance together hand in hand,
And my mind wandered to something in all the romance books I'd read and even written,
Glancing in your direction I gave your hand a small squeeze and immediately you squeezed back,
My mind in an excited happy haze that entire day focused in on that moment so intently,
And I think it might have been my favorite part of the entire day.

Holding your hand,
Feeling you stand on your tiptoes to give me a hug,
Kissing you in that shaded corner table,
Each of these things are etched into my brain,
So I will never forget the best day of my entire life.

I will never forget my first date with you.
