six | luring the beta
you're interesting and you're
different and i like that.
THE SCHOOL BELL chimed loudly as we all stood outside in between the buses. We were trying to discuss how we would going to hold up the new beta and Malia during the full moon.
"I'm not sharing my basement." Malia demanded, causing Lydia to fire back quickly.
"Actually, it's my basement. And my mom noticed how you tore it up last time." She spoke with a bit of attitude, cocking her head to the side.
"All right, she's still learning." My brother interjected, defending Malia while rubbing her back for comfort.
"But, we're going to use the boathouse for Liam. It's got support beams. We can chain him to one of them." Scott informed as Kira popped out the question we were all thinking.
"But how do we get him out to the lake house if he doesn't trust us?"
"He trusts one of us." Scott spoke, glancing over at me as Stiles' protective, fatherly instincts kicked in again. I nudged Scott's arm and glared while he glanced over to Stiles.
"I say if it keeps him from murdering someone we chloroform the little bastard and throw him in the lake." My brother denied Scott's idea, earning a glare from me as well.
"We are not doing that." I insisted while Malia interjected, agreeing with Stiles' on the manner.
"I'm in." She rushed, her coyote nature kicking in. I frowned and Malia's face softened, seeing the disappointment on my face.
"We're not killing or kidnapping him." Scott demanded, taking his place as the true alpha while everyone else backed down. A sigh of relief had escaped from my mouth as I knew Scott wouldn't anything happen to his beta. Liam's only my age and didn't deserve to go through more emotional trauma then what has already occurred.
"Then let's be smarter. We tell him there's a party and invite him." Lydia suggested with her signature smirk appearing on her rosy pink lips. I agreed with her, nodding my head as some others followed along.
"So, you're going to ask out a freshman?" My brother questioned, keeping close to Malia.
"No, I'm done with teenage boys." She denied, causing some confusion of who would take the role.
"Why don't we have Nina do it?" Malia smirked, turning towards me as Stiles grimaced.
"Yeah, I guess. I mean, she's the only freshman of the group and he's already taken an interest in her." Scott informed, causing Lydia's eyes to widen and my face started burning quickly. It was almost a natural instinct while everyone stared at me. Different looks were written on each of their faces, leaving me to feel cornered.
"Are you guys forgetting the fact that I can't drive?" I argued, trying to justify why they shouldn't choose me for the task.
"Wait a second, why hasn't anyone told me about Nina's little crush?" Lydia urged, baffled as to how she was the last one to hear about it. I guess that had made sense, she was normally the first to know anything and everything. When Allison was around - Lydia was always with her, causing me to grow very close to the two of them.
"I do not have a crush on him, guys. We're just- kind of- friends." I insisted, starting to feel my heart race quickly as Scott and Malia had already realized. I had known due to unclear state on both of their faces while they stared down at me. Kira's face had also contained an odd look, leaving Stiles to shoot an instantly concerned glimpse at everyone's reactions.
"Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart." Lydia spoke, already knowing exactly what I was feeling. But a part of me kept insisting that it wasn't anything - pushing it away. I had known what was better for me, but nobody was going to make it any easier.
"Hmm... fine, if we're playing a trick on someone, we'll have to use the trickster." She then turned her attention away and looked towards Kira.
"Who? Me? No way. Not me." Kira babbled, insisting that it wouldn't be her.
"Yes, you. You know what they call a female fox? A vixen." Lydia smiled, releasing another fact from the practical 'know everything book' in her head. I had been proud of the difference from years past. She had kept herself slim and dumbfounded most of the time when she was around Jackson. But she had changed so much since then- it was inspiring to me.
"Me?" Kira questioned, a fit of panic taking over in realization that she was being handed one of the most important roles of the plan. Everyone around us nodded, accepting the decision as a good one.
"You can do it, Kira. Be a vixen." Lydia pep-talked, smiling to herself as distress was written all over the kitsune's face.

Stiles and I had heard the sound of Scott's motorcycle as we darted outside to find Malia and Lydia already there.
"I just talked to Kira. She's on her way. She said it's all going fine." Scott comforted, pulling off his helmet and placing it on the bike. He hopped off as my bother looked at him reluctantly. A concerned look appeared on Scott's face, along with mine at his urgency.
"It's not that. I have to tell you something. I asked around about Liam. I know why he got kicked out of his last school." He spoke, his tone as serious as possible. I looked to him, gesturing for him to continue as Scott sighed.
"This is going to be bad, isn't it?"
"He kind of got into it with one of his teachers. And... The kid's got some serious anger issues." Stiles informed us, glancing over at me before placing his attention back to a concerned McCall.
"How serious?" I questioned while my brother was already a step ahead, pulling out his phone with the evidence.
"Well, that's his teacher's car. After he took a crowbar to it." He stuttered through his words, handing the phone to Scott while I peaked between the two of them. A picture of a blue vehicle had been in horrible shape with the words, "This is your fault." engraved into the side.
We had all looked between each other slowly, our minds going back to Kira sitting in a car with Liam on the night of a full moon. Panic shocked through Scott before his face softened, leaving us all speechless.
"She'll be here any minute. It's going to be fine." I comforted while we all headed inside, pulling out the items that would hold down the training werewolves.
Scott had received a message from Kira that the two were only seconds away, leaving us all to lineup together as we waited. The door suddenly opened to reveal a newly agitated werewolf and an apologetic kitsune. Kira had shut the door swiftly, mumbling a 'sorry' to Liam as he looked over to her.
"What the hell is this?" Liam questioned, throwing his arms out in an irritated manner. He scanned the lot of us to meet his eyes with mine. It may have been fairly dark inside, but I could see the concern and faint disappointment towards me. I mouthed a 'sorry' as well, knowing what would be best for him - and this was it.
"Think of it like an intervention. You have a problem, Liam." My brother spoke, being extremely straightforward as Scott then continued.
"And were the only ones that can help."
.
.
After minutes of explaining the whole situation to Liam - he had come off even more agitated than before. One expression had stayed on his face almost the whole time, eyeing all of us as each had explained their supernatural abilities.
We had finally come to a conclusion when Liam started questioning, once again.
"Werewolf? Werecoyote. Banshee." He spoke, pointing towards each supernatural figure. "And fox?" He asked, looking back to Kira with an almost perplexed glance.
"Kitsune. But fox works." She kindly corrected, giving him a small grin as he turned back towards my brother and I.
"What are you?" He wondered, keeping his arms crossed while his attention stayed on the two of us.
"Uh, for a little while, I was possessed by an evil spirit. It was very evil." My brother started, speaking first while Liam had continued to look unamused.
"What are you now?"
"Better. Um..." Stiles had frowned at the lack of interest and annoyance in Liam's voice. My natural instinct was to rub my brother's arm in comfort, while he awaited my response.
"Human. Luckily." I added as he nodded, an almost astonished stare remained while he eyed me. Stiles scowled, causing Liam's attention to turn somewhere else. Leaving him to look at the objects lying on the table - chains, cuffs, headwear, etc.
"Are those for me?" Liam gazed, starring down Scott as he continued to keep up - very fake - brace attitude. I could tell by the way his eyes flickered between all of us. He couldn't keep his attention in one place, especially knowing he was in a room full of supernatural beings. It hadn't seemed to fully occur to him yet that he - himself - was one. I could tell that he was hearing, but not fully understanding.
"No, they're for me." Malia interjected, her eyes flashing a beautiful blue color swiftly.
"How did you do that?" He silently panicked, fear kicking in as his eyes flew between all of us once again.
"You'll learn. But first, you need to get through the full moon." Scott advised while a perplexed Liam had glanced over at me.
"The moon's already out."
"And you're starting to feel something, aren't you?" Scott questioned, eyeing Liam while a sudden change had started to appear in him. The agitation that was once there before had grown much stronger, leaving him full of anger. I stepped forwards, my brother stopping me with his arm - causing a huff from me.
"I feel like I'm surrounded b a bunch of psychotic nutjobs. You guys are out of your freaking minds. I don't know how you did that eye thing and I don't care. I'm walking out the door right now! If any of you try to stop me, I swear to God, I'm gonna..." Liam was practically screaming before he sudden cowered. His hands had swiftly moved to his ears as he screamed in agony. I had felt a sudden pain and urge to leap towards him, but I restrained myself. Liam had started panting, scanning around the room aimlessly.
"Liam, what's wrong?" I questioned, catching his attention for only a moment while Scott moved closer to the beta.
"You don't hear that?" He boomed, keeping his ears covered in pain of the loud noise. It had come to my realization that the sound of vehicles approaching could be heard.
"Did you tell someone about this?" Lydia urged, while I had moved over to the window quickly.
"My friend Mason." Liam groaned as the kind of teenagers shouted were heard outside of the cabin.
"You said it was a party." He spoke once more, defending himself.
"Who did Mason invite?" My brother responded, while I peered through the blinds to find hundreds of kids outside.
"Everyone." My heart dropped, glaring down at Liam who was scraping the wooden floors as his human self started turning.
"The floors! Get him off the floors!" Lydia screeched in knowing the place couldn't be sold with animal scratches everywhere. Liam suddenly roared, his eyes glowing a bright yellow and canines showing eagerly. I jumped at the sudden movement and the squeal of the ginger.
"We need to get him to the boathouse." Scott demanded, "Now!" As Kira and Scott pulled him up from the ground quickly, taking him outside. I looked between everyone as each of them panicked, leaving me to feel as though I hadn't known where to go. "Nina, follow me." Scott demanded, my brother hadn't agreed but he had other things to worry about at the moment.
"Stiles..." Malia groaned, while my brother returned with a 'yeah.' The were-coyote then turned as Stiles' eyes widened in alarm, hearing a roar from Malia.
"Hey... Okay, basement. Now. Now." He jerked, grabbing the equipment as fast as possible. My brother had turned with Malia, leaving me to follow the path were Scott had went.
"You'll be fine. You're Lydia Martin." I insisted, leaving Lydia to huff as Stiles explained that she would be the one to throw a party.
I hadn't known what would be ahead of us, but it wouldn't be easy.
