MY PACE QUICKENED AS my eyes spotted the fairly large boathouse. I had erupted through the door, leaving Kira a bit appalled while Liam was thrashing around. Scott had insisted for my help, as if I would be able to calm a newbie werewolf. But the alpha knew best and I followed along, trying to convince Liam to calm down.
"I got him. Get his hands!" He yelled over the roars and grunts coming from the little werewolf. Kira and I grabbed his arms swiftly, but not as quick as we had hoped. We were both pushed to the side as Liam leapt forward onto Scott. His claws had appeared as he held his hand above his alpha, ready to attack. But Kira and I had rapidly thought of some idea to stop him. I pointed to the wooden boat paddle that had happened to be right behind her. She grabbed it and hit Liam right across the head, knocking him out cold as Scott pushed him over.
"Oh, god. I didn't kill him, did I?" Kira panicked while I starred down at his now almost lifeless body. He had slept peacefully, keeping the dangerous aspect of him tucked away for now.
"No. He's out cold." He panted, resting next to the teenager while Kira and I did the same.
"I hope Stiles is having better luck." She huffed, as a spark of interest had shocked through me.
"Should I check on him?" I questioned, earning a nod from the couple. "He'll be okay, right?" I spoke, making sure that leaving him would be my best choice right now. They had both insisted, leaving me to second guess my decision. But I had went anyways, knowing that checking on my human brother with his were-coyote girlfriend would most likely be my best bet. I had trusted Malia to never hurt him, but it didn't mean I couldn't make sure he was safe.
All I could hear was the pounding of techno music bursting through my eardrums. I had figured the couple would be in the basement, including Malia had been so adamant about it. But when I appeared at the door, pushing a few people aside, it was locked shut. I pounded on it as hard as I could, getting wide eyes from teenagers around me. A few minutes had gone by and there was no response, leaving me to believe that they couldn't hear it over the sound draining music. Although, my decision was made to search for Lydia and see if she had the keys to the basement.
The whole first floor was clear of her, no signs of the strawberry blonde anywhere. But I had gained suspicions on a teenage couple that were oddly conversing as far away from the crowd as possible. I had pushed it to the side, continuing my search for Lydia on the second floor of the beautiful building. Each room seemed to be empty, except for one which had been at the end of the hallway. "Lydia?" I practically yelled, hoping she could hear me halfway through the hall. "Lydia?" I repeated, but instead I had been in front of the white door, knocking distinctly. The door suddenly opened, revealing a distant and confused Lydia. Around her eyes and nose were a bright red and soaked as if she had just been crying.
"Hey, are you okay?" I questioned, but the door had shut slowly in front of me before she spoke a word. It had then opened again and I slid in before being shut out once more. Suddenly, the room was completely silent as if there hadn't been a party going on at all. None of the teenagers voices could be heard and neither could the music. It was absolutely nothing, perfectly quiet and I couldn't understand why the room would be soundproof.
My eyes had then darted around the room, it was perfectly pristine except for two spilled glasses of red wine on the cream carpet. "Soundproof?" Lydia mumbled, questioning herself while we had stood in front of the door. She then started slowly searching around the room, maybe for a sort of clue that I couldn't get at. We had both looked at the large singular record player pushed up against the wall on its own. She had reached for it, playing the record but I could hear a single thing. It had only taken moments of her staring distinctly at the sheet white wall, as if something was talking to her through it. Although, I knew better and it was most likely occurring.
"Lydia, what's happening?" I queried, stepping closer towards her but she hadn't moved a muscle. It was as if she was frozen, listening to things that I wouldn't be able to hear. "The Key." She spoke out loud, causing a moment of confusion for me. I then realized just as the door hit me, literally. Kira had come bursting in, apologizing rapidly as Lydia insisted for a bit of help.
"Go to Liam. He needs you." She insisted, gesturing me off with the promise of accompanying Lydia in her time of need. I had hoped that Liam and Scott had been in the same place, but knowing would only take seeing. My legs ran quick through the fist-bumping teens as the music continued blasting even louder than before. I was honestly surprised that the speakers hadn't exploded from the excessive amount of noise blaring through them.
My eyes adjusted to find the wooden boathouse completely empty, but Liam had luckily left a memento behind. There was a gaping hole in the side of the building. Something that could be done by a newbie beta that had been going through his first full moon. I followed the sounds of growls and screams through the woodsy area, hoping to find them quickly. Soon enough I did and I couldn't be any happier to find the werewolves. Although, it had not been the way that I wanted it to be; seeing the two in a battle amongst the mud and leaves.
"Liam!" The scream had escaped through my mouth without even thinking as he pinned Scott to a tree.
"What did you do to me?!" He growled, shaking Scott rapidly as I could see the panic in his eyes towards the beta. "This is your fault! This is all your fault!" He repeated, reminding me of the pictures Stiles' had shown us only hours before. His arm raised high, ready to strike Scott as I leapt forward in hopes of being able to somehow stop him. But the idea was cut short when the sound of an arrow ripped next to my ear, causing a blast of lights and a subtle smile grew on my face. I had known exactly who that could be, Argent.
My head spun around to find the hunter, walking towards the two of us eagerly. "How did you know?" Scott smiled.
"I got your text." He responded, reaching out his hand to help the true alpha up and embrace him with a handshake.
"Is it my turn now?" I piped up, earning a hug from the hunter with a smile. He had let go, continuing to discuss with Scott on how to help Liam.
"There's a clearing just north of here. All you have to do is corral him there. The rest is taken care of."
"What are you going to do?" Scott asked, as if he was hoping for more of help. Although, I had known what needed to be done and the alpha needed to be the leader.
"He's your Beta, Scott. The better question is what are you going to do?" He responded,
"He won't listen to me." He frowned, feeling as though he couldn't be the true alpha he wanted to be.
"He will if you start using your own words." Argent reassured him, looking between the both of us.
"Here," He spoke, handing Scott a little remote object that I couldn't see clearly in the dim light. "Go." We had both set off, running towards the screams of the young beta.
It had only been minutes as the screams grew louder and louder. I could almost feel the pain he was going through, wincing when we had appeared in front of him. He was curled onto the ground, covering his ears as hard as he could while the trap around him continued. The remote Argent had given Scott only moments before was to turn off the trap, the alpha doing so.
"What's happening to me?" He stuttered, while we had moved closer to him.
"The same thing that happened to me." I had noticed the change in his tone. He had finally found the right words to say, his own words.
"They can't know about this. My mom, my stepdad, I can't do this to them again." The tears flowed down his face, leaving me to move closer towards him. He had comforted me once before, which meant it was my turn to do the same.
"What do you mean again?" Scott asked, pretending as though he hadn't known the information Liam was about to share.
"I got kicked out of school and I deserved it. The way they looked at me when they saw what I did to that car..." He spoke, his voice cracking between the words.
"Liam, it's okay." I softly comforted, reluctantly placing my hand on top of his own. We were at the same height, his breathing hitched as the tears continued.
"They can't see me like this." He sobbed; his eyes a bright red, along with his nose. My thumb slowly rubbed against the top of his hand as his breathing slowed.
"Like a monster? You're not a monster. You're a werewolf. Like me." Scott convinced, seeing Argent standing off to the side. A smile was written on his face, knowing that Scott had finally found the right words.
