Mini Update II
So I mentioned in the previous update of this story that I would be uploading in parts: part 1, part 2, and part 3.
I'm going to change that.
I am of the unfortunate mindset of being a novel minded writer. Which unfortunately means I physically cannot tell a short story. I have tried. And with a little help from some of the classes I took in college, I was sort of able to get the hang of short stories. But I can't tame the novel writer within me unfortunately. Add in Asperger's and a gazillion other story ideas floating about in my head desperately trying to make their way out, and we have the predicament I am in: three stories I'm trying to finish at the same time that are equally long and complicated. I already tried to help my head by writing down drafts, working on this story as a priority, and publishing in sections (or all at the same time) rather than chapter by chapter. But Love of the Dragon Warrior is a little longer than I anticipated, and I know part of that is me writing out tremendously long drafts and story twists. (This is the first mystery book I've ever written so I'm desperately trying to make good!) I am also very bad with going off on tangents and explaining things, because I honestly love telling a story, and this whole paragraph I think sums up my personality in a nutshell.
Okay, let me try this again and make it a little brief.
The whole point of this update is that I have decided to publish this story in increments as a Milestone. Basically what I did for myself was section off each part of PART 1: YIN and made little milestones so I feel more accomplished and less discouraged when trying to get this whole story done. (I'm currently working on a chapter called Pitter Patter and I'm getting irritated by how long it's taking me to write it...!!!). What I'll do is that after each milestone (there's thirteen), I'll publish a chapter. When I get a quarter of the way through the book, (which is before the second murder I think), I'll publish an extra chapter. When I get half way through Part 1, I'll publish two extra, and so on. I think that'll help motivate me a little better because it feels less overwhelming. I don't normally use drafts for my story, but because it's a murder mystery, I figured I'd better make one to space things out and have everyone's motives and time and place of death make sense. It's helped, I think. I'll do the same for part 2. I don't know about part 3, since I haven't gotten that far, but I'll see.
Right now, I'm about nine chapters away from milestone 1, which is when the first murder takes place. So, I'm hoping to finish that soon and then finally publish the next chapter. I forget what it's about, but I think it's another short planning session, since the chapter after that is a nighttime group activity.
Thanks for the patience again. The milestones aren't to do with feeling anxious about not publishing a chapter, just to ease everyone. It's just me having Asperger's and getting overwhelmed with my own brain. XD
