A day to never forget
The next morning, Po woke up with a start after hearing Monkey loudly scream in his face, "POOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
The master jumped and fell out of bed, hitting his head hard on the ground.
"Owwwww!" Po groaned. "Monkeeeeey...."
Monkey snickered. "Sorry, buddy," he apologized. "But we have an entire day to hang out and I don't want to waste one minute of it!" He then grabbed Po's arm, yanked him to his feet, and began to quickly drag him out of the barracks.
Po stumbled about for a bit before he was finally able to get his feet moving in sync with his friend's running speed. He was then dragged over to the kitchen where the rest of the Five were waiting for him.
"Good morning Po," Viper called out cheerily as she served everyone breakfast. "I hope you slept well."
"I slept fine," Po answered, casting a look over at Monkey who snickered and sat down. "Well, mostly."
"We figured we'd better wake you up," Crane explained as his friend sat down. "You know, just in case you overslept and your food got cold."
Tigress rolled her eyes. "I'm sure he could smell it in his sleep," she commented, tossing a dumpling into her mouth. "Or maybe you all forgot about the sleepwalking incident the third year he was here."
Po chuckled. "I forgot about that," he admitted. He stuffed a few dumplings into his mouth and swallowed before adding, "So, what's the plan for today?"
"A tour around the village," Monkey said immediately before anyone else could speak. "Mantis and I were thinking about spinning around in the Jade Tortoise again, for old times sake. And then we can hike to the Wu Dang mountains and have a picnic, and then maybe we can play some checkers and chill in the barracks."
"Sounds like fun," Po said with a smile. He frowned. "Just don't try and ask for embarrassing stories from dad," he warned.
"They won't, we promise," Tigress assured him. "Right, Crane?"
Crane nodded. "We've kept them in check for three years and we can keep on doing it," he seconded. "Don't worry about it."
Monkey and Mantis smirked, but they didn't say anything in reply.
As soon as the masters finished up their breakfast, they all walked out of the Jade Palace together and walked around the village as Monkey had promised earlier. (Of course, it was somewhat difficult what with almost every single villager crowding around Po to say hello and convince him to stay). However, they managed to stop by a few flower shops, greet Mrs. Quall at the gift shop, buy some fruit at the various vendors around the village, and even said a brief hello to Mr. Ping. After once again getting swarmed by villagers and being bombarded with questions left and right, the masters finally finished their greetings and shop tours and headed back up to the Jade Palace.
"Mmm..." Po said, his mouth stuffed with chocolate from one of the candy shops. "Thif ith dewiciouth! I wove flavr ov th muth!"
"I'm sure you love it, Po," Tigress told him. "But can you swallow first and then talk? It's hard to hear you."
Po nodded and made an effort to swallow the huge mass that was in his mouth. Crane glanced around at the group. "Hey, where'd Viper go?" he asked.
The masters looked at each other, towards the top of the stairs, and then at the bottom of the stairs. Viper was no where to be found.
"That's an excellent question," Mantis replied. "She should be with us. We had plans to spend the entire day together!"
"I'll see if she got caught up at the flower shop or the jeweler's," Crane offered. "You know how she gets with hair ribbons and make-up."
He then took off and quickly flew back down to scan the village for any trace of the snake. When he was out of earshot, Tigress said simply, "She had a date. And she didn't have time to cancel."
"Oh!" Monkey exclaimed. "Why didn't you just tell us that?"
"Because I promised her I'd keep Crane pre-occupied so that he didn't try to track her and figure out who her boyfriend is."
Mantis groaned. "This secrecy is kind of driving me nuts," he admitted as they continued to walk back up the stairs. "I mean, I get that maybe this guy is shy and Viper doesn't want Crane butting in, but can't we at least get a name or something?!"
"It's Viper's business. I don't know why her and her boyfriend want him to go unnamed, but we should respect their decision. They'll let us know when they're ready."
Mantis frowned, but said nothing. They eventually reached the top of the stairs and walked over to the training hall. As Tigress had no interest in spinning around in the Jade Tortoise until she felt nauseous, Monkey, Po, and Mantis wound up doing it just the three of them. Tigress took to sparring with the Adversary and practicing with some of the newer weapons that they had in the corner of the training hall. (Though she did warn the boys ahead of time that she wasn't going to be the one who cleaned up their vomit). Po, Monkey, and Mantis had a blast simply spinning around in the large bowl, even despite the fact that they all got sick and would occasionally throw up on the other. (Mostly Po). When they were done, they cleaned up any remains of their breakfast that had gotten hurled up (or in Po's case, an entire pound of chocolate) and rested on the side of the training hall.
"Had enough?" Tigress asked them, dealing a finishing blow to one of the clubs that she was practicing with.
"Yeah, I need a break," Po concurred. He laid on the ground with a sigh and closed his eyes to rest for a moment.
"Well, we've had fun playing in the Jade Tortoise," Monkey said. "When Po gets up, we can go and pack lunch."
"Sounds good," Po told him.
Tigress cleaned up the wooden mess and then put her weapon away.
"Do you know what time Viper's getting back at?" Mantis asked her.
"No idea. She said hopefully before lunch, but we'll have to see how that goes."
At that moment, the door opened and Crane walked in with a look of utter confusion and despair. "I can't find her anywhere!" he cried. "I checked all the shops, the vendors, restaurants...! I even checked outside the village! She's gone!"
"Hey, cheer up, Crane," Monkey told him quickly, worried he'd over-react or find out what was going on. "You know Viper. She can take care of herself. Besides, if she did get side-tracked by something, she knows her way back, right?"
Crane sighed. "I suppose," he said reluctantly.
"Exactly! In the meantime though, let's go get some lunch."
"Good," Po said with a grin. "Because I'm starving!"
The masters (along with a reluctant Crane) made their way over to the kitchen where they proceeded to pack some water, steamed buns and spring rolls, and some cookies. (Which Po attempted to eat before getting smacked in the face by Monkey). They then went out of the Jade Palace and headed over to their picnic area to eat their lunch. While they unpacked, Tigress warned them to not leave crumbs all over the grass since Master Shifu wanted to keep the mountains as clean as possible. As everyone got set up for lunch, they heard some rustling behind them and Viper suddenly appeared with a smile on her face.
"Hey, guys," she said cheerily. "Did I miss much?"
"Where were you?!" Crane exclaimed before anyone else could answer.
"Eating lunch," Viper replied with a slight eye roll. "And I went on a lovely little walk."
"But we're eating lunch right now!"
"I know. I never said I was eating with you."
Crane frowned, thinking of something else that he could say in order to figure out where the master had been. However, Viper quickly began talking to her friends in an effort to leave him out of the conversation.
"Did you have a good lunch?" Po asked her.
"Of course," Viper told him with a smile. "There was this cute little glade that I got to eat in and everything was so beautifully set up. There were mini-cakes, noodles, a hot pot of tea, lotus flowers-"
"Hey, wait a minute!" Crane interrupted. "Were you hanging out with...what's your boyfriend's name again?"
"None of your business, Crane!" Viper scolded. "And...none of your business, Crane!"
"You went on a date?! Why didn't you tell me?! What if you had tripped and fell down a cliff and broke your neck?! Or what if this guy turns out to be a criminal?! Or what if you got lost on the way back and then you got caught in a thunderstorm and got a terrible case of pneumonia and you got secretly rushed to a hospital and we never knew about it so when you died we'd be looking for you for years and then-"
"Crane, I'm fine!" Viper interrupted, glaring at him. "You need to learn to not be so overprotective. Plus, I'd like to have a love life with some privacy if you don't mind!"
Crane frowned at her, but said nothing else. Glad for some quiet, everyone grabbed some lunch and began to eat and quietly chat.
"This has been fun," Monkey noted, glancing over at Crane. "Mostly. I wish you'd stay, Po."
"I know," Po admitted. "But-"
"You still have your kung fu classes to teach," Viper interrupted with a sad smile. "We know. It's okay."
"Well, we have at least two weeks with him," Mantis reminded them, munching on a spring roll. "So lets just make the most of it while we're all still here."
Po grabbed a handful of buns and stuffed them into his mouth. "Souds like a pan!" he said.
"Po! Don't eat the entire picnic lunch!" Tigress scolded. "The rest of us need to eat too."
Monkey laughed. "Just let him," he told the Dragon Warrior. "We won't get the chance to tease him or scold him after he leaves!"
Tigress eyed him, but then shrugged and then leaned forward to grab herself a cup of tea.
Hey, sorry that I haven't uploaded for a while. I haven't had much time to work with any of my stories. Also, I apologize if this chapter seems a bit cheesy or really short. I got a bit stuck and I wasn't sure what else to do for the chapter.
