Wedding Epilogue
A lot can happen in two years. When Kevin was a young boy, he never imagined he would live to see the 20th century transition into the 21st century. Robin himself never imagined he would see a new millennium. But here they all were in the year 2001. Robin's relationship with Barbara remained just as romantic. There would be times, when Barbara wasn't defending Gotham City as Batwoman, the two lovers would go on a double date with Kevin and Kara. Speaking of Kevin and Kara, Kevin soon realized that he loved Kara with all his heart and decided to propose to her. Kara of course said yes. They decided to get legally married in a private ceremony with several witnesses. The witnesses being Kara's adoptive parents and the Kent family, and her friends who knew she was Supergirl, and Bruce, Alfred, Tim, and Andrea. Of course a wedding can't be a wedding without a best man and a maid of honor. Kevin elected to have Robin be his best man at the wedding. And Kara elected to have Barbara be her maid of honor. And who would officiate their wedding? Since Kevin was technically marrying an extraterrestrial alien, Kara recommended having Princess Diana, otherwise known as Wonder Woman, be the one to marry them since she had officiated many weddings for people of different races, species, and those of the lesbian community. It was the day of the wedding and mostly everyone was outside Wayne Manor. Kevin was in a black tuxedo that Bruce had once worn when he was Kevin's age, except Kevin's bowtie was a very dark blue. Robin this time was wearing a tuxedo with a blue overcoat and a red bowtie. Barbara was wearing a beautiful purple dress and silver open-toed heels, no tights or pantyhose. Diana was wearing a traditional dress that an Amazon would wear at a ceremony in Themyscira. The Danvers family and the Kent family were all dressed in their best suits and dresses. Bruce and Alfred were wearing their best tuxedos, and Andrea was wearing her best dress, incredibly jovial for her son. The only Bat Family member that didn't show up for the wedding was unsurprisingly Dick. Tim was wearing a nice black tuxedo with a red bow tie, and Tyler was willing to wear a lovely dress for once. Cassandra also wore a lovely dress. As Kevin waited for his bride-to-be, Robin casually asked, "hey... do you think I look like Adam Sandler's character in The Wedding Singer?"
"Nah," chuckled Kevin, "you look good, Rob. Even Barbara likes what she's seeing." Barbara playfully winked at Robin. "Thanks for everything Kevin," said Robin. "No problem. You too Robin," replied Kevin. That's when Martha Kent said, "here she comes!" And in came Kara wearing a beautiful white wedding dress and white heels, no stockings or pantyhose. This wedding dress was actually Martha Wayne's wedding dress. Kara carried her wedding bouquet, Clark by her side, the two cousins arm-in-arm. Clark was wearing a nice dark blue tuxedo with a red bow tie. Clark then walked Kara down the aisle, everyone happy for the bride. Soon Kara made it to where Kevin was, and Clark set next to his wife Lois and his son Jonathan. "You look absolutely beautiful," complimented Kevin. Kara smiled and said, "and you look just as handsome." The wedding ceremony then began. "Friends," began Diana, "family, allies, toons. We are gathered here today on this most joyous occasion to witness our friends Kevin Adam Beaumont and Kara Zor-El Danvers officially join hands in the bonds of marriage. If there is any reason why these two must not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace."
"If anyone objects, I'm gonna throw a pie in their face!" Robin warned. This caused mostly everyone to laugh, except for Bruce of course, who gave Robin his famous Batman glare. Tyler rolled her eyes. "May we have the rings?" Diana asked. That's when Lois and Clark's son Jon walked in with the two wedding rings as he was the ring bearer. Jon then walked up front and gave the rings to Robin. He and Kevin smiled at the young boy and Kevin gave him an approving wink as if to to say, "way to go kid." Kara then playfully tussled Jonathan's hair, and Jon went back to his parents. Kara then took one of the wedding rings and put the wedding ring on the ring finger of Kevin's left hand. She then said, "I, Kara Zor-El Danvers, take you, Kevin Adam Beaumont to be my husband. I remember the day that Krypton was destroyed. I watched my cousin get shipped off the planet, followed by myself. Watching my home planet get destroyed, I never thought I would ever get to this stage in life. Kevin, you showed me a lot about Earth life, showing me that I could fit in even when I was different. We have shared so many memories; the good, the bad, the tragic, the fun. You've comforted me when I've been down, dragged me to try new things, and even made me feel like I belong here. In the next chapter of our lives, I promise to cherish these new steps of our life to the end of our days. I love you Kevin Beaumont, and I hope we are able to continue our adventure to the end of our days." Barbara smiled, wiping her tears as she was trying not to cry. Lois and Martha on the other hand, were both crying. Kevin then took the other wedding ring and placed it on the ring finger of Kara's left hand. He then said, "I, Kevin Adam Beaumont, take you, Kara Zor-El Danvers to be my wife. I gotta say, before I met you, I never thought there was such a thing as love at first sight. But when we met as neighbors, we became friends. And that friendship turned into a bond, and that bond turned into love. I soon understood how Dad felt when he first met my Mom. You were the first girl I ever fell in love with. Kara, when I'm with you, I feel normal. You showed me that I didn't have to be alone. We've been through so much together, the good times and the bad times. But I believe the good times overshadow the bad. You are many things to me, Kara. You are my strength, my heart, my hope, my joy, my world, my best friend, my hero, my love. With this ring, I pledge my love and loyalty to you. I will be your comforter when you're sad, and I will be your strength when you need it. I love you with all my heart Kara Danvers, and I am happy that I will get to spend the rest of my life with you." Robin sniffled and smiled, wiping tears from his eyes as he was trying not to cry. Andrea on the other hand, was sobbing tears of joy. Diana then let out her famous Golden Lasso of Truth. "This is the Lasso of Truth," she stated, "when you hold it, you are compelled to tell the truth." Kevin and Kara then bound their hands together by the Lasso. "You are both bound by the Lasso," continued Diana, "do you, Kevin Beaumont; take Kara Danvers to be your lawfully wedded wife? To love and to cherish? To have and to hold? For richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, for better or worse, till death do you part?"
"I do." Kevin confirmed proudly. "And do you, Kara Danvers, take Kevin Beaumont to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Diana asked, "To love and to cherish? To have and to hold? For richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health, for better or worse, till death do you part?" Kara smiled and said with confidence, "I do." Diana smiled and said, "with your family and friends as witnesses, you have sealed your love. And by the power invested in me, I now pronounce you married as husband and wife! You may kiss the bride!" Kevin then kissed Kara on the lips, and everyone clapped, happy to see these two get married. And after the wedding came the reception. Kevin and Alfred worked together to make a delicious buffet of food for those invited to the wedding. Alfred even made a beautiful wedding cake out of scratch. Everyone ate and drank heartily, partied merrily, and would dance sometimes. Toasts were made to the bride and groom, and soon it was time for everyone to slow dance. Robin offered his hand to Barbara and asked, "may I have this dance?" Barbara took Robin's hand and replied, "you may." They then wandered to the dance floor and started to slow dance to the song I Swear by All 4 One. Barbara picked Robin up like a teddy bear as they slowly danced. "I got some good news for you Robin," whispered Barbara. "What's the good news?" Robin whispered back. "I talked with my doctor to the day before the wedding," whispered Barbara, "and it turns out, I'm now able to have children. Wanted to let you know now, in case you ever consider." She happily winked at him. Robin smiled and said, "that's great news." He then kissed her on the lips. After the cake was eaten, it was soon time for Kevin and Kara to leave for their honeymoon. But of course every wedding had to traditionally end with the bride throwing the bouquet to any lucky lady who could potentially get married in the near future. Kara then turned her back and then aimlessly threw her bouquet of wedding flowers to any random spot. Kara turned around up front to see who caught the bouquet. And who caught the bouquet? Why it was Barbara! Barbara looked at the bouquet, and then at Robin, and then she blushed and smiled. "One day babe," promised Robin, "one day. But until then..."
Thanks for helping with Kara's wedding vows, Tyler. And thank you all for reading! G'night everybody!
The End.
