The Road To Gotham

While Robin was driving, Kevin got out his cell phone to call his mother Andrea Beaumont. "Is this working?" Andrea asked, picking up the phone. "It's working," assured Kevin, "hi Mom!" Andrea then said on the phone, "hi sweetie! How are you holding up?"

"I'm holding up a lot better. Have I got a funny story for you," chuckled Kevin, "the bus driver told me that the best they could do to fix the bus was two days and I didn't want to wait that long. So I tried hitchhiking for an hour, so I was sweating like a storm." Andrea giggled, "I'll bet. So you managed to find a ride?" Kevin nodded and said, "I did. He's my new friend, his name is Robin Warner." Kevin then gave the phone to Robin. "Hi Miss Beaumont!" Robin said enthusiastically. Andrea then said, "Hello Mr. Warner, it's nice to meet you. You certainly sound youthful." Robin nodded and said, "well thank you, Miss Beaumont. Would you believe it if I said I was a toon?" Andrea chuckled, "really, a toon? Like, Bugs Bunny and Roger Rabbit? Well I must say, I never thought that toons existed in real life. It's very nice to meet you Mr. Warner. So you found my son hitchhiking in the boiling sun?" Robin nodded and said, "that is correct. I felt bad for him so it only made sense to be a good samaritan."

"Well I appreciate what you did for my son," said Andrea. "I'll let you know when we've made it to Gotham," said Kevin. "Alright then," said Andrea, "be safe you two." Kevin nodded and said, "we will Mom. I love you." Andrea smiled sweetly and said, "I love you too Kevin. Bye!" That's when Kevin hung up. "Mind if I play a little road music?" offered Robin. "Sure," replied Kevin, and so Robin played the song Radio Ga Ga by Queen. As Robin drove, he and Kevin decided to get to know each other. Kevin explained that he was from Bellevue, Washington, and that Andrea raised him on his own in a Catholic upbringing. After he had graduated from University of Washington, Kevin wanted to go to Gotham to meet his biological father as he never got a chance to meet him. His father probably didn't even know he existed. "I have to wonder though..." Kevin said, casually changing the subject, "how come I've never seen you on Animaniacs?"

"Well, I would have," explained Robin, "you see I was drawn on a leap year in 1996. They wanted to bring me in after Space Jam. But Kids WB and Amblin couldn't reach an agreement on how to use me. They were unsure whether to let me be a character on Animaniacs, or have me be a sidekick on Freakazoid. This went on until finally after 2 years of debating, they decided I would be a regular on Animaniacs. I remember it well. But the minute after I was hired, someone called and before I even knew what was going on, I got fired!" Kevin gave a look of shock and said, "fired?!?!?! What for???" Robin scowled and replied, "simple. Kid's WB cancelled Animaniacs. The reason Animaniacs was cancelled was because of that new show Pokemon at the time. Kids WB was given the chance to either renew Animaniacs for another season or allow Pokemon to air. Those schmucks thought it would be easier and more cheaper to air the English dub to Pokemon, so they axed Animaniacs in favor of that overrated anime. And that is why I despise Pokemon. That stupid show killed my career before I even had a chance to shine." Kevin looked at him sadly and said, "sorry you went through that Robin. If it gives you any comfort, I don't like Pokemon either. I don't see what's so special about it." Robin smiled a little and said, "thanks Kevin. At least you and Bugs Bunny understand. He's my mentor and friend." Kevin smirked and said, "no wonder you have such an appealing vibe. I loved watching Bugs Bunny cartoons with Mom.  I'll never understand the people who say he's overrated." Robin smirked and replied, "those people on this new internet are imbeciles who don't know what good comedy is if it hit them over the head. The internet is full of weirdos I tell ya. For every good person on the internet, there's a bunch of displeased psychopaths complaining about that new Star Wars prequel."

Less than a day later, Robin drove all the way to Gotham City. He and Kevin could see the sign that said "Welcome to Gotham City!" Robin drove around and said, "looks like we made it. So where can I find your father?" Kevin got out a piece of paper from his pocket that contained a note and read, "Wayne Manor, 1007 Mountain Drive. That's where my dad lives. This is the address." Robin looked at the address to Wayne Manor and memorized it. It was now late mid afternoon by the time Robin drove to Wayne Manor. Robin looked at the manor and said, "so this is where your dad lives, eh?" Kevin nodded and said, "yep." Robin then parked the Freebird somewhere, and the two got out. "You ready?" Robin asked Kevin. "Yeah, I'm just really nervous," admitted Kevin, "this is going to be the first time I've ever met my father. He and Mom had a bit of a falling-out before I was born, so I have no idea how he'll react to me..." Robin pat Kevin's back and said, "hey don't worry. I think you're a good guy. Your mom clearly did a good job raising you on her own. I'll be with you through it all, I promise." Kevin sighed in relief, "thanks Robin." The toon and Kevin walked over to the front entrance of Wayne Manor and Kevin nervously knocked on the door. Less than a minute later, someone opened the door. It was a young teenage girl around 17. She had pale Caucasian skin and long ginger hair, her left eye was red and her right eye was green. She had a scar on her left eye and she wore black rimmed glasses. She was 5 ft 7, had a small slender frame, also wore a grey t-shirt with black sleeves, pale blue jeans with several holes in them, and light brown Converse sneakers. The young girl looked at the unusual pair and said, "that's odd, I don't recall company coming over..." The teenage girl had a hint of a slightly British accent. The girl looked at Robin in silent disbelief. Then she shrugged it off as if this was normal.

"Hi. I'm Robin Warner," replied the toon. "I'm his friend, Kevin Beaumont," replied Kevin as Robin offered his hand to the lady, raising his cap like a gentleman. "Well I'm Tyler Mystery Jones," said the young ginger as she shook the toon's hand, "I must say, I've never seen a toon before. Never thought they were real. Will wonders never cease?" Kevin took a turn shaking Tyler's hand and said, "nice to meet you, Tyler Jones. Is Mr. Bruce Wayne here?" Tyler smirked and asked, "the old man? I'll go get 'im. Come on in, Gents." Kevin and Robin then went inside the manor looking around. An older gentleman in a tuxedo walked in and said, "I do apologize for any comments Miss Jones made that would be considered offensive. My name is Alfred Pennyworth, I am Master Bruce Wayne's butler." Robin shrugged and said, "no sweat. I guess she's never seen a toon before." Alfred looked at Robin once, gave a look of slight surprise, and then shrugged it off as if it was nothing. "Nice to meet you Mr. Pennyworth," said Kevin, "my mom's told me about you. She has nothing but nice things to say about you." The butler smiled and said, "well that's very reassuring Mister Beaumont, is it?" Kevin nodded. Suddenly, Bruce Wayne walked inside, wearing his usual business suit. "So you must be the two unusual gentlemen Tyler told me about," said Bruce in his enthusiastic billionaire playboy voice. Kevin looked at his father and said, "hey Dad, I mean, Mr. Wayne. We have a lot to talk about." Bruce smiled a little and said, "I'm open to listening. How about we start from the beginning?"
