Father And Son Officially Meet

"Wait, did he just say Dad?" Tyler whispered to Robin. The Ink-Blot Dude nodded in response. "My name's Kevin Beaumont," said Kevin as he shook Bruce's hand, looking up at his father, given that Kevin was 5 ft 11 and Bruce was 6 ft 2. "Beaumont, eh?" Bruce casually asked, "you wouldn't happen to be related to Carl Beaumont and his daughter Andrea, would you?" Bruce hadn't heard or spoken about Andrea in nearly 25 years. Kevin looked around in his pocket and said, "actually yeah. I'm Andrea's son." He got out some papers which included a letter personally written by Andrea, and Kevin's birth certificate which indicated he was born on July 28th, 1975. Bruce saw Andrea's name and his name on the birth certificate, indicating that he was the father and that Andrea was the mother. Bruce took a look at the letter and read it. The letter said,

Dear Bruce,
I know we haven't spoken in 25 years, and I understand if you're angry at me for all the things I've done as The Phantasm. I've written so many versions of this letter, trying to think of the right words to say this... But I'll write it now. We have a son. His name is Kevin. I know it may not seem like it, but Kevin is like you in so many ways. He's strong and brave, has your detective skills, smart, and sometimes stubborn. I wanted to tell you, but I feared you'd want nothing to do with me or our son, and if the public found out, it would surely damage your reputation. I told him of who you are. He knows you're Batman. But he won't expose your secret. Kevin is very trustworthy. I've changed for the better, and Kevin has helped me become a better person. Please don't let him suffer for my sins. He only wants to open up to you. Please welcome him into your life. I miss you, and my feelings for you haven't changed my love.

Andrea

Bruce couldn't help but be touched by Andrea's words. As he looked at his son, Bruce could see features in Kevin that were similar to him and Andrea. "I have a son..." Bruce quietly said in amazement and disbelief. He gave the letter to Alfred so that the butler could read it. After reading the letter, Alfred took one look at the young man, and he didn't need to be a detective to know that Kevin was Bruce's son. "Plan to take a DNA test, Master Bruce?" Alfred nonchalantly asked. Kevin plucked out a hair and gave it to Bruce. "Mom always said you were the world's greatest detective, among other things," said Kevin. "Alfred, entertain Tyler and these guests," said Bruce, "I have business that I have to attend to. I shouldn't be too long..." Alfred nodded respectfully, knowing what Bruce was going to do. Bruce then left the living room so that he could go to the Batcave. Alfred looked at the two guests and asked, "would you gentlemen care for some refreshments? I do have some sodas laying about somewhere."

"Soda sounds nice. Thanks Mr. Pennyworth," said Robin as he, Kevin, and Tyler followed Alfred to the dinner table. "Do you have lemonade?" Kevin asked. "I do actually," said Alfred, "I'll bring you a glass of lemonade if you would like, Mister Beaumont." Kevin sat down and said, "lemonade would be nice, thanks Alfred." Alfred then went into the kitchen to fetch the refreshments. Robin and Tyler then sat down as well. "So what brings you lot to Gotham City and specifically the home of Bruce Wayne?" Tyler asked casually. "It's a matter of family," replied Kevin. "I happened to find Kevin hitchhiking on the road and drove him here, so I guess you could say I'm his chauffeur," joked Robin. "You seem to be quite the comedic type, huh Mr. Warner?" Tyler chuckled. "A toon's purpose is to make people laugh," replied Robin. "Dick and Barbara might like you," said Tyler. Alfred then came back with a can of classic Coca-Cola and a glass of lemonade. "I brought this type of soda for you, Mr. Warner," said Alfred, "and here's your lemonade Mr Beaumont." Kevin and Robin said in unison, "thanks Alfred!"

"If you must know Miss Jones, Kevin Beaumont is Master Bruce's biological son," said Alfred, "and Master Bruce's first love, Andrea Beaumont, is the mother." Kevin nervously sipped his lemonade. Tyler took one look at Kevin and said, "I can definitely see a resemblance. You have his eyes, among other traits." Robin looked at Kevin and said, "oh my gosh, you're right!" He sipped his Coke. "My Mom didn't want the public to know I was his son because what if it wound up being a public scandal like Clinton and Monica Lewinsky?" Kevin explained. "I doubt it would be as scandalous," said Alfred, "your father has adopted many children including Miss Tyler. There are some who are even like surrogate children to Master Bruce. You would be no different." Tyler nodded in agreement. "I just hope Dad can welcome me as his son. I want to get to know him," said Kevin. "You're going to get your wish, son." Bruce said, walking in. "It's a boy?" Tyler sarcastically asked, smirking. "The computer confirmed a DNA match a few minutes ago," replied Bruce. He looked at Robin, and then he asked Kevin, "does he know of my other persona?"

"What persona?" Robin asked, not realizing that Bruce was addressing an elephant in the room. "I'll take that as a no," said Bruce as his voice was sounding different, "both of you come with me. You too Tyler, if you want." Robin, Kevin, and Tyler followed Bruce to the grandfather clock. "How trustworthy is your friend Robin Warner, Kevin?" Bruce asked as he set the time to 10:47 p.m., the exact time his parents were murdered. "I would have suffered a heat stroke if Rob hadn't found me in the middle of nowhere," replied Kevin, "I have him to thank for getting me here. So I trust him as a friend. And I do believe in loyalty to friends and family." Robin nodded and said, "Mr. Wayne, I know I'm a young toon, but I am trustworthy, I assure you. It's usually me that's gotten double crossed. But I like Kevin. He's a good guy." Bruce then opened the grandfather clock which led to the stairs. "Alright then, I'm putting my trust in the both of you," said Bruce as he went downstairs. Kevin, Tyler, and Robin followed Bruce. Kevin and Robin could hear the sounds of wings flapping. After taking the stairs, Robin and Kevin found themselves inside the Batcave! "Whoa..." Kevin said, looking at all the superhero suits of Batman, Robin, and Batgirl. Rob looked around at everything else and said, "wait, you're dad's Batman? Dude, your dad's awesome. I mean, I heard of you Mr Batman, sir. Heard you weren't real." Bruce crossed his arms and replied, "I'm real when it's useful."

"Surprisingly, this cave is the safest base there is... Despite it being in an obvious location." Tyler sarcastically said. "Definitely impressive," said an amazed Robin. "I'm willing to let you and Mister Warner into my life as both Bruce Wayne and Batman," said Bruce, "but I have to be sure you'll understand why I became Batman. And why I take this seriously. Come with me outside." Kevin and Robin then followed Bruce out of the Batcave and outside the backyard. They then followed him to two gravestones that said, "Here lies Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne." Kevin and Robin looked at the gravestones. "I became Batman so that no child would ever have to endure what I had to endure," said Bruce, "I want you both to swear on the graves of my parents that you will keep my identity and the identities of my allies a secret." Kevin raised his hand respectfully and said, "I swear, I will Dad. I understand that being Batman means a lot to you and I will respect that." Robin respectfully took off his hat and swore, "I promise I'll keep this a secret too. Cross my heart." Bruce nodded and said, "welcome to the family you two."
