7. Family Dinner

"I'm really fearing for my life right now".

------------------------------○☆○-----------------------------

20th March 2013

It was all done. Bangtan was officially ready for their debut. It had only been five months since Jung Jisoo had joined the label, and they were done with all the necessary things.

Recording, choreography, photoshoots, design for the hardcopy of albums, posters, photocards, everything was completed. Though some of these things were done before only, they still had to give some finishing touches here and there.

One might wonder just how did they do it in the span of five months. Well, that's Bangtan for you. Some of the most hardworking teenagers put together in a group gives that outcome.

December had been exceptionally hectic, the only rest being Kim Seokjin and Kim Taehyung's birthday celebrations. Otherwise they had worked continuously. They had worked until they could clearly envision their dreams.

Because dreams can never become reality through any magic; it takes sweat, determination and hardwork. Lots of it.

And naturally after two long months, everybody was drained to their core. They all were tired beyond belief and so the company had given them a well-deserved rest of two weeks. And on the first morning of their holidays, no one had moved a muscle until 10 in the morning. They had practiced particularly hard the last night and so everybody slept in.

"Finally a good night's sleep," Jimin said with a yawn, stretching his arms above his head.

"Mhmm," Taehyung nodded, eyes half open and he rubbed at them.

"I still feel tired," Hoseok sighed and flopped back down on his bed, though his eyes were wide awake.

Jisoo and Yoongi were the ones still sleeping, it was not a surprise at this point. Whenever they had an off day, the '93-liners were the last pair to wake.

"Hyung and noona still sleeping?" Namjoon asked, coming back from the bathroom and was met with five nods.

"As usual," Jin said with a small laugh and got up, moving towards his best friend's bed.

"Hold up, hyung!" Taehyung interrupted him, moving closer quickly. "I'll wake her up this time. Don't you remember what happened the last time?"

Jimin and Jungkook sniggered as the past memory floated into everybody's minds. The way Jin had woken up Jisoo two weeks prior had almost led to him being subjected to a death sentence.

"Fine," he frowned and stepped aside to let the younger one pass.

But Tae paused, not understanding how exactly to begin with the difficult process. He looked at the others, all of whom had similar confused expressions.

"Never thought we'd be stumped on how to wake up a 20-year-old woman," Namjoon shook his head, highly amused.

"Why don't you give it a try?" Tae suggested innocently and received a decline almost instantly.

"No please, I do value my life".

"What's the matter with you all? Planning some sort of heist?" A sleepy drawl was heard from behind and they all turned simultaneously.

"We're figuring out the best way to wake noona up," Jungkook muttered, biting his lip in thought.

"And so far we've been unsuccessful," Hoseok added.

"Clearly," Yoongi said and got up after stretching. He walked towards her bed and the others moved aside.

"Jisoo?" He said, his voice low as it usually was. "Hey," he shook her.

Her eyes began fluttering as she stirred, "What?" She grumbled softly, pushing her head into the pillow.

"It's time for breakfast," he simply replied and the rest watched in disbelief as the girl nodded after a moment.

"I'll be there in ten," she mumbled and turned around, going back to sleep. "Just let me rest for five minutes more".

He nodded and started folding his blankets, as though he hadn't just solved a predicament that had been troubling everyone for quite a time.

"How the hell?" Jimin frowned at just how easily Jisoo had woken up.

"I was expecting a small punch atleast," Jin huffed and went into the kitchen to prepare something.

"Well," Yoongi said slowly as he placed the now perfectly folded cover on his bed. "Some people just have the natural talent," he said, his gummy smile on full display at their dumbfounded expressions.

Hoseok chuckled and shook his head, "She definitely has a favorite".

After about 45 minutes, the members were back in their bedrooms. This time they were lazing around. Some on their phones scrolling through social media and some playing games.

Some like Jisoo and Namjoon were reading books, both lying down on a single bed and reading silently. Enjoying each other's pressence without saying a word.

Just then a song suddenly started playing, capturing everyone's attention.

I won't let these little things slip, out of my mouth. But if I do, its you. Oh it's you, they add up to. And I'm in love with you, and all these little things.

It took them a moment to realise that it was a ringtone, of Jisoo's phone to be specific. Realisation itself dawned on her too late as she was engrossed in the novel. She gave them an apologetic smile and went out in the living room to answer the call.

"Hey dad," she greeted him cheerfully. Leaning against the window and looking outside, staring at the various clouds dotting the vast stretch of blue.

"It's almost as if you've forgotten me," came Jung Baek Hyun's voice, pretending to sound extremely hurt.

"I know I know, I'm sorry," she apologised with a laugh at his playfulness. "Seriously though these past months were really hectic. I barely had time for anything other than practice".

"I understand, darling. And it's fine, don't worry. You didn't overwork yourself though right? Got enough sleep? And did you eat properly?"

"Yes, I promise I did. I actually slept every chance I got. And my eating schedule is also enough for me".

"That's good. Remember it doesn't matter what kind of work you're doing, you should always put your own care first".

"Yeah I know, I kept that in mind everyday. We're on a two week break now," she said with a happy sigh, stretching her neck sideways.

"Oh, that's great! How about you come home for a day or two hmm? It has been too long. And I hate to say this, but I miss you".

"Aw Dad you're going soft," she teased. "But yeah I'll drop by someday. Maybe I can get the others too? We'll have dinner together".

"Yes, of course. I'd like to meet them again, get to know them better. Let me know the dates when you'll be coming so I can prepare".

"I will, but don't take on too much trouble, Dad. The members will love it the same if the food is simple and nice".

"Yeah yeah fine," she could almost feel him rolling his eyes. "See you then?"

"Yep. And for the record, I miss you too," she said with a sad smile, one that he seemed to pick on quickly.

"You'll see me soon enough, love. Hang on for sometime more," he said softly.

She nodded, "Yeah, see you then. Bye," saying so she ended the call, the smile still on her lips as she gazed up at the sky again, her mind at peace for once.

"Hey, who was that?" Jin asked softly, knowing she hated breaking the silence by talking loudly.

"Dad," she turned towards him, watching as he stood beside her, his eyes too searching the heavens for something unintentionally. "He uh has invited you all to a dinner".

"Oh really?" A grin spread across his face, he had eaten with the Jung family before and knew of Baek Hyun's culinary skills. "When are we going?"

She laughed at how he didn't even waste a second in thinking it over, "Whenever you all are free. He wants to meet the other members properly, wants to know them better".

"We'll ask the others quickly then come on," he tugged hand, pulling her with him as they walked into the bedrooms to find the rest in the exact same position as they were when she had left.

"Want to have an amazing, five star dinner?" Kim Seokjin got straight to the point.

"Obviously," came a chorus of six voices, though no one looked up from the things they were busy with.

"At my home," Jisoo added and in an instant, all of the heads perked up with interest. "My Dad just called me and has invited everyone for a dinner".

"Your Dad has asked for us?" Namjoon asked, mildly surprised as he sat up straight.

"Yep, he wants to get to know everybody. Just tell me whenever you're free, we can schedule then".

"Oh anytime," Jimin said eagerly making her chuckle.

"What about you lot?" Jin questioned looking at the others who had failed to respond and hid a smile at their barely hidden nervousness.

"Uhm whatever day he's okay with," Hoseok said with kind smile.

"This weekend is okay, I think," Taehyung nodded and everyone voiced their agreement.

"This Saturday it is then," Jisoo finalised and they all gave their consents.

There were a wide variety of feelings that she saw on everyone's faces. Some had a small amount of excitement, some were heavily nervous and some were just happy.

/*/*/*/*/*/*/*

"What should I wear, I don't have anything to wear," Jimin groaned as he stared endlessly into his cupboard, a hoard of clothes lying messily on his bed as he was unable to make a decision.

"Help me hyung," Jungkook scowled holding up two shirts, "Which one would look better?"

Nobody answered him though as everyone had their own problems. Jin entered the room to simply watch in amusement as they fretted over the most uncomplicated things.

"Hyung!" Hoseok called him, his eyes narrowing in annoyance and slight desperation. "Don't just stand there laughing, help me!"

"What the hell is going on here?" A new voice came and everybody froze.

Jisoo had walked in to see all of the beds except for hers and Jin's entirely covered with clothes of all sorts. "Did an earthquake just hit this room?"

"Noona," Namjoon frowned and sat down in defeat. "We're doomed".

She snorted, "Of course you are. What's the matter?"

"We can't decide what to wear for tonight," Yoongi summarised the chaos bluntly.

She tried hard to prevent another shout of laughter because they all looked genuinely concerned over their outfit choices. "I honestly think you'll be fine with a simple jeans and t-shirt".

"Seriously," Taehyung muttered to himself and quickly chose his set of clothes and held them up for her approval.

"Exactly like that, you're good to go, Tae".

"Yes," he murmured under his breath in victory and she quickly left the room, allowing all of them to change quickly now that she had given her priceless advice.

"Bunch of idiots they are," Jin shook his head, still laughing as he went inside the kitchen to grab a snack.

"It was cute if I'm being honest," she smiled and joined him in snacking even though they had an awesome dinner waiting for them.

The two waited for sometime when the bedroom door finally opened and all of them stepped out, every single one looking like they were walking on a catwalk.

"Fashionistas," she thought to herself and smiled at them.

"Noona is this okay?" Jungkook said, keeping himself close to her and pointing at his outfit. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and a full sleeves shirt tucked inside his pants.

"You look great, Kook," she complimented and watched as he blushed and grinned.

Jisoo had asked Pd-nim if they could borrow the company's car for the night and he had readily agreed, giving her the full responsibility.

"Get in Bangtan," she said, spinning the key around her index finger unconsciously.

"You can drive?" Hoseok exclaimed, too stunned to get in.

"Of course I can," she smiled.

"You have a license too?"

"Yes I do".

"Daebak," Jimin whispered in awe and opened the door, getting inside quickly.

"Don't crash the car," Jin muttered making her shoot a glare. "I'm really fearing for my life right now".

"I'll make sure to have you killed first," she rolled her eyes, sitting in the driver's seat and waiting for everyone to settle before starting the car.

And they took off, beginning their thirty minutes route. The radio was on obviously, playing a very popular song 'I got a boy' from a group called 'Girls Generation'.

Everyone was surprisingly sitting in silence throughout the twenty minutes of their journey. Maybe they had nothing to speak or were simply too tired to even open their mouths. Either way, the peace was welcomed with open arms by the elders, especially Yoongi and Jisoo.

Just then Jisoo's phone started ringing, "Check who's it will you, Tae?" She asked him as he was sitting beside her in the passenger seat.

He nodded and picked the device, "It's your Dad".

"Answer it, he must be asking if we've reached or not".

"Y- You sure?" He stammered, wanting to thrust the phone into Jin's hand but she gestured for him to take it, not moving her eyes from the road.

"Oh yeoboseyo? Oh yes, Anneonghaseyo! I'm Kim Taehyung. Yes we're on the way, yeah she's driving. We'll reach in-" he cut off and asked Jisoo how long it would take. "-We'll be there in ten minutes. Yes thank you," he ended the conversation with extreme politeness.

Jisoo who had heard him clearly smiled internally, he honestly was too kind for his own good.

"Anything we need to know beforehand?" Namjoon asked, seemingly curious but she sensed the anxious state hidden beneath.

"Namjoon," she said, looking at him briefly through the rearview mirror, making sure he heard her. "I understand you're nervous, but honestly you don't have to worry at all. Just greet him like your usual polite self and he'll totally fall in love".

"But we can get him a gift or something?" Jimin suggested, hesitating slightly. "We can't visit him empty-handed".

Jisoo knew they wouldn't take no for an answer so she agreed, "Just take some of his favourite snacks".

And now with quite a few snacks packed neatly in a paper bag, they resumed their travel. Finally after ten minutes, they had reached the building of her apartment.

Everybody got out and all walked behind Jisoo, giving the impression that they were her seven bodyguards.

"We're onto the third floor," she said and they went inside the elevator which was spacious enough.

"I don't even know why I'm so scared," Taehyung mumbled, his head bowed, staring at the grey floor.

The rest chuckled softly at the youngsters, understanding what they were feeling.

"It's okay, we feel the same," Hoseok smiled warmly.

"Your worry will disappear the moment you talk to him," she assured them with a grin and stepped out, holding her arm dramatically as she pointed towards her home.

"Welcome to my humble abode!"

The door opened before the doorbell rang, revealing a very bright faced man who wasted no time in pulling his daughter in an embrace. The hug was tight, secure and filled to the brim with love. They were seeing each other after five long months and had missed the other terribly.

"Dad," she whispered into his shoulders, a lump welling up even with her best efforts to keep it all in. She swallowed and her eyes began watering which she tried to blink away.

He didn't say anything and simply rubbed her back, a rare kind of smile on his face that was reserved for her and her alone.

"I'm sorry," she said with a small chuckle and sniffed, "Come in please," she looked at the others.

"Yes please come in," Mr Jung smiled and stepped aside for them to walk inside first.

The members all bowed respectfully before entering the apartment, all of them walking slowly and taking in everything. Their eyes lingered on the many decoratives placed on walls, shelves and cabinets. The next thing to attract them were the various photoframes arranged in a pattern on the walls.

Namjoon smiled at seeing a younger picture of Jisoo with her Dad, but then he frowned at seeing another one that included a little boy too, he looked to be a year or two older than her.

He glanced at the rest and noticed their confused faces as well, did she have a brother? If yes then why hadn't she mentioned him before?

He didn't ponder over it much and sat at the large table with quite a lot of chairs around it.

Hoseok had also observed something else, there was not a single picture of Jisoo's mother. He was aware of a lot of reasons why one parent was missing and so didn't find it in himself to ask her, it would probably not be a very comfortable topic.

So he shook his head, wanting to get rid of the thoughts and instead focused on the people surrounding him, involving himself in conversations.

"It's really good to see all of you again," Baek Hyun smiled kindly. "It looks like you've worked hard these past months".

"Yes we did," Namjoon chuckled a little, becoming more at-ease as they spoke. "We did manage to get almost everything done in the span of a few months. And right now thinking back to everything I think the effort was worth it".

The man nodded admiringly, "Has the debut date been finalised?"

"Yes," Jimin said. "The 13th of June".

"Only three months to go then," he exclaimed, his eyes going wide. "I'll tell you something, I just know that you're going to be a different one".

"A different one?" Yoongi asked curiously. "How so?"

"I can't really say much, but you have that uniqueness that I haven't really seen in most people. You're going to do a lot of great things. For your company, your group, your family, for yourself. And maybe for our country too".

"Let's hope that'll be true," Taehyung laughed, a new spark lighting his eyes.

"That will be true. Just hold on, Bangtan. You've got a lot of things ahead of yourselves. You're going to pave the way".

"You really think so?" Jin questioned, a tiny bit of self doubt flickering unpleasantly.

"I know so," he assured them.

And so they began digging into the wonderful dinner, all laughing as they talked about the most randon stuff and answered questions.

Jisoo was busy conversing with Namjoon to her left and slowly one by one, small bites of food were disappearing from her plate. This all went unnoticed by her of course.

"The food was really good," Jungkook said genuinely and the man bowed theatrically, emitting a laugh from the youngest.

"We'll help you clean up," Hoseok immediately got up from his seat and started gathering the empty plates.

"No no it's alright, I'll do it myself later," he tried to stop them but failed.

"Leave it, Dad. They won't take no for an answer".

The cleaning was done efficiently due to all of them working together. And now they sat in the living room, resuming their talks.

"Is the name of our fans decided yet?" Jin asked and looked at Namjoon who shrugged.

"I don't know, we'll ask Pd-nim after our break".

"Let me tell you something you lot," Baek Hyun spoke amd silence followed his statement as they paid him rapt attention making him smile slightly.

"Don't ever make the mistake of assuming that you're fans are just fans. Most artists fail to acknowledge the most important thing that formed their career and later they wonder why they're going down. But make sure that you'll never make this mistake".

"We promise," Namjoon said with such seriousness and such sincerity that everybody was thrown off for a second.

Jisoo's lips flicked upwards in heavy admiration for this young man, who talked as if he had already made plans for the betterment of the world and who thought like he carried the weight of the entire universe.

"Give them and show them so much love that they won't for a second regret their choice for supporting you. Assure them that choosing Bangtan and being their fan was the best decision ever".
