Chapter Three
Breathe.
His words hit me hard, smacking the air from my lungs.
"You can't hide in here forever," his voice sounded behind me.
I sighed, trying to stop the smile that had emerged, and laid my instrument down on the chair. I walked toward him and he wrapped me into a hug.
"You were gone for so long," I muttered into chest." He stroked my hair, "I know. I'm not leaving you again."

"Cleo," He screamed chasing after me. A laugh escaped my lips. "You can't run from me." I heard him increase his pace.
I broke out into the clearing, tripping over a branch. I heard him let out a grunt. The light blinded me as I was picked up off the floor.
I regained senses enough to realize that I was pressed up aganist a tree. His face was illuminated by the sunlight.
"Caught you," He smirked and pressed his lips to mine.

The stars surrounded us, making our small group feel even smaller than we actually are. I snuggled up to his chest.
"I want this to last forever," I murmured into his shirt.
I could smell the campfire from earlier. He kissed the top of my head in response.
"You know I'm right here," Seth remarked. I could imanige the face he was making in the dark. I burst out laughing and flicked my brothers head.
In the clearing of the woods, we fell asleep among the stars.

"LEAVE. FUCKING LEAVE ME." I screamed through my sobs. "HE'S GONE." I threw the music stand at him.
The hurt was evident on his face, "Cleo, please just listen to me."
I turned to the desk with all my music. "It's over." An echoing tear ripped through my music, it might of been the sound of his heart.
I threw the instrument hard on the tile and watched the gold pieces shatter. I felt no remorse staring at the last part I had left of Seth.
I heard him try to move toward me, "Go," My voice shaking, but words firm, "don't come back."
****
"Nice to see you again." He stared me right in the eyes, determined for a reaction.
"Hello Jay."I muttered, barely above a whisper.
I honestly wanted to scream. Or cry. Or both.
Mr.Pittman gestured for us to join him in his office.
I took the chair, and Jay leaned up aganist the wall, his glance fixed on the floor.
God, he looked the same. The same old Jay.
He had a mop of untamed, wild, brunette curls that slightly covered his eyes. His face, stoic now, normally was curved up into a smile. His eyes met mine, they were the same grey blue orbs that resembled a thunderstorm.
Those were the eyes I would get lost in for hours.
I hastily looked away.
Mr.Pittman cleared his throat in attempt to lighten the akwardness.
"So obviously I've called both of you in today to discuss becoming drum majors. We start pratice in one week. I know it's rather abrupt, but given circumstances..." He looked away from me, "this is our best option."
"I'll do it," Jay nodded and swallowed hard, "for the band."
My heart lurched a bit at that.
"Ok it's all set then."
I sighed in relief, I would agree to anything to get me out of there quicker.
"One more thing, since you two have not been very connected lately, I've arranged for a dinner on the band. It's an opportunity for you reconnect your relationship and kick off the season. It's mandatory so don't even think about refusing." Mr.Pittman grinned at us.
Almost anything.
