Chapter 13 - The tide

Anna's POV

When I woke up, I was in his bedroom. Eros was still sleeping, his face buried into my hair, his arm around my waist.

I remembered last night. His touches, his kisses. I shook my head.

What have you done?! After all his lies, how could you do it? But last night, the dream, the song and pregnancy hormones triggered it.

I breathed deeply and looked at him.

Everything could be different and beautiful, but now everything was messed up.

I stroked his hair gently. He sighed, but he did not wake up. I pulled his hand away carefully. He sighed and rolled over.

I got up carefully without waking him up. I put on his shirt and went to the guest room.

I put my clothes on and wrote a note. I took my bag and walked out.

I stopped in front of his bedroom. Eros was still sleeping. The lock of his hair fell onto his forehead. He was laying on his back.

I walked into his bedroom quietly. I walked towards him. Then I leaned over him and placed a soft kiss on his lips. He blinked without waking up.

I loved him, but I couldn't know how I could trust him again. I stroked his cheek as I placed the note on the nightstand and left.

Eros' POV

I stretched out and opened my eyes. Last night had been one of the best nights in my life. And my favourite other nights were with Anna too.

When I looked at the other side of the bed, Anna was not in the bed. I looked around, rubbing my eyes. My shirt that she wore last night was not on the floor too.

"Anna." I called her, but there was no voice.

I got up and put on my boxer and sweatpants. I looked for Anna in the bathroom. But she was not here either.

When I came back, I saw a note on the nightstand. I smiled and went towards the nightstand. I took the note.

'Last night was beautiful, but that will not repeat. The song, all these things triggered it. I was so emotional. I am sorry, but I can not do it. I can not trust you again. Anna.'

I crumpled the note and threw it away.

"Damn it! Damn it!" I shouted and rubbed the nape of my neck angrily.

I went to the guest room. But her things were gone. She left.

Damn!

I sat on the bed, holding my head in my hands. I tried to calm down.

What were you thinking? Fuck! You messed up everything.

I went to my bedroom. I took off my clothes and went to the bathroom.

After taking a shower, I put on my clothes. I made some coffee for myself and went to the living room. I sat in the armchair, looking through the window.

I should do something. I would not let her go. I loved her.

Think. Think.

"Sir?" George interrupted my thoughts.

"Umm...yeah?" I looked at him.

"Are you fine, sir?"

I nodded. "We are going to the horse riding club." I informed.

He nodded and walked out.

When I wanted to be alone, I went to this club. It helped me to relax and let me think.

As we arrived at the horse riding club, George got out of the car and approached my side. He opened the door for me. I got out of the car and walked towards the club.

"Welcome, sir." Yorgo greeted me.

He was looking after my horse, Zeus.

"Hi, Yorgo. Is Zeus ready?"

"Yes, sir."

After I had changed my clothes, Yorgo brought Zeus.

"Zeus, my good boy." I stroked my horse, smiling.

I held the saddle and got up on my horse.

Anna's POV

I was in my suite, laying on the bed while thinking of Eros. I couldn't get him nor our passionate night out of my mind.

Suddenly, my phone rang. I grabbed it and looked at the screen. It was Eros's mother. I picked up my phone.

She invited me for brunch. I accepted. I needed to distract myself.

I got ready and went downstairs. Eros's mother was waiting for me.

We greeted each other. Her driver opened the door for me. We got in the car.

"We will have our brunch in the horse riding club. You will like the place. The club is so beautiful and peaceful." She informed, giving me a warm smile. I nodded and smiled back.

The driver stopped the car as we arrived at our destination. We got out of the car.

I looked around. Everywhere was green, giving serene feelings. The place was really beautiful.

A man walked towards us.

"Hello, Mrs. Taptiklis."

"Hello, Yorgo. Anna and I come for brunch."

"Welcome. Mr. Taptiklis is here too. He is with Zeus."

"Eros is here?" Helena asked, surprised.

What?! Shit!

Why did I accept the invitation?! I did not want to see him. At least today.

"Yes, Mrs. Taptiklis."

"Let's go, Anna." Helena said.

We walked towards the restaurant. Helena and I ordered our brunch. As the waiter brought our food, we started eating.

"Mom, what are you doing here?" I heard Eros's voice.

My heartbeats increased.

He walked closer to his mother and kissed her cheek. Then he greeted me with a nod. I nodded at him back.

"Eros, we are having brunch. Come on, join us." She suggested, smiling.

I bit my lower lip nervously. I was not looking at Eros.

"Ok." He mumbled and sat down next to his mother.

"Are you okay, honey?" Helena asked, concerned.

"Yeah, I am." He replied sadly.

I looked at Eros. His face was gloomy. Our eyes met. I averted my gaze.

"But you look sad. What happened? And you are here in the morning. You come here in the morning when you want to be alone."

"Mom, I am really fine. Do not worry." He reassured, forcing a smile.

"Fine." She smiled as she placed her hand on his back and rubbed his back. He gave her a slight smile.

I didn't look at Eros, but I had been feeling his eyes on me during brunch.

"Eros?! What a coincidence!" A woman exclaimed with a seductive voice, looking at him.

His expression changed. His jaw clenched. Helena's expression changed too.

"Alexia, what are you doing here?" Eros hissed.

She smiled at him. "Calm down, baby. It is a coincidence."

Eros shook his head, giving her a sarcastic smile. "It is not a coincidence. Natalia told you. I saw her here an hour ago." He commented bitterly.

She placed her hand on his arm. He clenched his fist and pulled his hand away.

She smirked arrogantly, looking at me. "What? Are you afraid of your new doll?" She asked sarcastically.

Eros clenched his jaw. He stood up quickly and grabbed her arm tightly, dragging her away.

I was staring behind them.

"I am sorry, Anna. She is...really annoying." Helene said, giving me an apologetic look.

I looked at her. "Do not worry. It is not your fault."

Helena smiled at me. Then she looked at Eros and the girl. I looked at them too. They were arguing. Eros looked frustrated.

"She is his ex-girlfriend. An on and off relationship. She is clingy and annoying. I do not like her. They broke up a few days ago."

I looked at her, shocked. A few days ago? Then he had a girlfriend when he was with me in New York. I looked at Eros angrily.
