You Must!
"Levi!" Hanji yelled to the man sleeping on the couch.
Levi groaned and groggily opened his eyes and sat up. "Yeah, gym, I know."
"What? No, you don't have to go today! But you have to get up to get ready!" Hanji said, an evil glint in her eyes.
"Why?" Levi stood up and walked to the kitchen.
Hanji followed him. "Well, I called Petra-"
"Great..." Levi opened the fridge and examined it.
"-and she said that she had the day off, so I talked to her about it and we decided that maybe we should hang out!"
"She wants to hang out with me?"
"Well she didn't say anything about you, but it's just a plus one! But wasn't my plan just super smart, huh?"
"Genius." Levi rolled his eyes and shut the fridge, the foods in it not interesting him.
"I know right! So we're going to get frozen yogurt and then go see a movie!"
"Do we have to? Seriously, I don't want to spend any more time with her. She tortures me."
"That means she likes you. Girls are mean to guys when they like them!"
"Whatever."
"No! Come on, we're going shopping! You need clothes for your date!”
“I'm not going.”
“Yes you are! You have to! It’s destined for you two to get married and have kids and grow old together and have grandkids that hate you but love her! It’s destiny! Tell him Erwin!”
“What she said.” Erwin didn’t look up from his newspaper.
“I’m still not going. So you can forget about your little destiny thing and find some other person to make miserable.”
“No! I have to make you miserable! That’s what gives me joy in life!”
“I don’t care.”
“Nope! Come on!” Hanji grabbed Levi’s wrist and started dragging him to the door. “We’re leaving; get your shoes on.”
“I’m not getting my shoes on and I’m not leaving.”
“Fine! We’ll go without shoes, but you are NOT getting out of this do you hear me?!”
“Just go on this “date” yourself.”
“No! I can't do that! You guys are my OTP! You have to be together!”
“What the hell is an OTP?”
“One true pairing! Come on, Levi, I didn’t know you were that stupid. Get your shoes on!”
“If I get my shoes on can I at least go alone and get my own outfit?”
“No! You might get a pretzel in the mall or something.”
“I wouldn’t get-” Levi was interrupted by Hanji’s phone ringing.
Hanji reached in her back left pocket and pulled her cell phone out. “Hello?” There was some incomprehensive words, then Hanji started flipping out; she held the phone to her chest. “It’s your girlfriend!” She put the phone back to her ear. “Yeah, what do you need?... Uh-huh… Yeah, he’s right here… He hasn’t had breakfast yet… Okay.” She held the phone to her chest once more. “She said you have to eat a yogurt and fruit for breakfast.”
“Well we’re out of fruit and when have we ever had yogurt?” Levi began to put on his shoes.
“Ooh! I have an idea!” Hanji placed the phone next to her ear. “We don’t have any fruits really, so maybe we could meet with you for breakfast at iHop?” Hanji was shaking with excitement. A few seconds passed and then she started jumping up and down. “The one on 52nd street? Yes! Okay we’ll be there in about 20 minutes!... Yup! Okay, thanks!” She pressed the end call button. “Erwin! Get some of your best clothes on, we’re going to breakfast with Levi’s girlfriend!” Hanji was squealing as she ran back to her room to get some nicer clothes. “You too Levi!” She called from her room.
“Ugh.” Levi walked to the guest room and opened his dresser, pulling out a regular pair of dark blue jeans, a t-shirt and a black sweater and slipping them on before exiting the room.
Hanji came out her room and turned the corner to see Levi. “What are you wearing?”
“It’s not like it’s a date.” Levi walked to the door.
“But it is! Fine. But you are getting fancy for the movie! Oh, and no butter on your popcorn! And only drink water!”
“Okay, Petra…”
“Those were her orders.” Hanji pulled her shoes on and Erwin did as well. Levi had previously adorned his feet with shoes.
All 3 left the house and got in Hanji’s car, a 2009 Chevrolet Escalade, Hanji and Levi arguing about who got the front seat before it was decided that both had to sit in the back.
Erwin got in the drivers seat and backed out of the driveway, then putting the car in forward and driving down Maria Street, stopping at the stop sign before turning on to 49th Street.
“Go right at this light.” Hanji directed.
“No, he needs to go forward and then turn right because if he goes right, we’ll get stuck in construction traffic.” Levi countered.
“It’s not like there will be any people! It’s like 8 in the morning, and we will get there quicker.”
“But, there is still a delay so going straight will be quicker.”
“Erwin, go right.”
“No, Erwin, go straight.”
“Right.”
“Straight.”
“Right!”
“Straight!”
“Midget!”
“Shitty glasses!”
“Shorty!”
“Four-eyes!”
“Munchkin!”
“Shitty ass tree!”
“Shut up!” Erwin pulled into the nearest parking lot. “Hanji, give me your phone.”
“But-”
“I’m just gonna borrow it, now give it.”
Hanji reached into her pocket and grabbed her phone, unlocking it before handing it to Erwin.
Erwin pressed a few buttons before putting the phone on speaker and setting it on armrest. It rang for a few seconds before they heard the sound of the phone being answered.
“Hello?”
“Petra, hi, we need-” Erwin began.
“Petra! Levi is being an ass and he’s eating junk food and stuff!” Hanji stuck her tongue out at Levi.
“I am not.”
“Wait, what?” Petra spoke.
“Listen, we need your-”
“Levi loves you! He totally wrote it in his diary! He was all like “Dear Diary, I am totally in love-”
“Bullshit!”
“With Petra, she is so beautiful and smart and I even though I am totally not right for her because I’m a stubborn asshole, I think she is perfect and-”
“HANJI! SHUT UP!”
“Why? Scared for her to know the truth?”
“Well, no, but I don’t feel comfortable telling her lies!”
“Well, good because I’m not lying!”
“You’re full of shit.”
“AM I? AM I REALLY LEVI? BECAUSE I THINK YOU ARE JUST DENYING YOUR FEELINGS!”
“What feelings?!”
“That feeling called LOVE!”
“We barely even know eachother!”
“IT’S. TRUE. LOVE!” Hanji unbuckled her seatbelt and crawled to the front. “Move over Erwin, I’m driving!”
“Hanji-”
“Now.” Hanji growled, glaring at him.
Erwin put his arms in front of himself and exited the car, then re-entering on the passenger side.
“Let’s go!” Hanji pulled out of the parking lot recklessly, earning the honks of many people driving. She sped off, way passed the speed limit.
“Ummm… I’m gonna hang up now… See you guys at iHop!” Petra hung up on her end.
Hanji didn’t even slow down a bit as she turned right, at a red light. She had an evil glint in her eye as she swerved around the cars.
“Hanji, no!”
Hanji laughed maniacally. “Hanji, yes!”
Hanji made a sharp turn around the corner "Wheeeeeee!"
"ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE!?"
"Maybe! Whoops!" Hanji veered out of the way of a semi, barely making it. "Sorry, buddy!"
"Well, I never thought this was how I would die..."
"No! Nobody is dying before you and Petra get married and have 30 babies!"
“Why 30?” Erwin asked as he held his hand on the dashboard to keep himself safe from Hanji’s chaotic driving.
“There must be 30! I want 30 children from you two! 14 boys and 16 girls, and since I am helping you two get together, you must name one after me! Hanji Ackerman-Ral!”
“I would never name my kid after you, and I don’t even want one of those shitty brats.”
“No, but Petra loves kids!” Hanji made another sharp turn onto 52nd Street.
“Where did you hear that?”
“I stayed up all night last night talking about you with Petra! She was talking about you, like, non-stop! It’s adorable! She was like, “How’s Levi doing?” and “Is he going to quit already?” and a bunch of other stuff, but it was totally kawaii!” Hanji turned into the iHop parking lot, making the car almost tip over on it’s side. She pulled into a parking lot as close to the building as possible and turned the car off. “We’re here!”
“Finally! Land!” Levi got out of the car.
“I think I did pretty damn good for not ever passing drivers ed.” Hanji exited the car and dusted her hands off.
“You never passed drivers ed? Mrs. Hills passed everyone just so she wouldn’t have us again.” Erwin explained.
“Well… I almost killed her during the test drive, because apparently the speed limit isn’t a just a suggestion…”
“Oh really? It’s not just a suggestion? Who would have thought?” Levi asked sarcastically.
“Shut up shorty.”
“Shitty glasses.”
“Midget.”
“Four-eyes.”
“Munchkin.”
“Shitty ass tree.”
“Hey, look, it’s Petra!” Erwin called before their argument lead to a fist fight, or for Levi, fabulous kicks,
Both Hanji and Levi stopped their arguing and turned to see Petra walking out of her car. She was wearing a pair of light blue skinny jeans with a pair of black converse, a black tank top with a light blue, cropped jean jacket over it. Her hair was down to her right below her shoulders and it was slightly curled.
“Hey, guys! Sorry it took so long, this crazy person was driving way passed the speed limit and in the wrong lane. Who taught that person how to drive?”
“Who knows?” Hanji laughed and walked over to Petra, flinging her arm around Petra’s shoulder. “So? How is everything going? Anything new? Maybe a boyfriend? Or someone you like?” Hanji bobbed her head towards Levi, as she whispered.
Petra raised a brow. “No, why?”
“Really? Maybe you need to get a boyfriend! Maybe someone who you met on Monday… Maybe someone who you train… Maybe someone by the name of Levi.”
“No thank you, he isn’t my type and I barely know him.”
"That does not matter! You guys are my OTP!"
"OTP? What is that?"
"Are you two done gossiping? Can we go in and eat now?" Levi interrupted.
"Yeah," Petra turned her attention to Levi. "Let's go."
The 4 walked in through the doors. Hanji skipped over to one of the tables that had 4 chairs, 2 on each side. Making Petra sit next to Levi and sitting next to Erwin herself.
Then, a waiter came to the table, his name tag reading Jeff.
“Hi, I’m Jeff and I’ll be the one serving you tonight. What would you- Wait,” Jeff walked over to Petra, taking her hand and placing a kiss atop of it. “What is this beautiful young lady’s name?” He stared into her honey eyes with his deep blue ones.
“Taken! She is TAKEN!” Hanji yelled, slapping his hand away from Petra’s.
“No, I don’t have a boyfriend…” Petra stated, her eyes not able to drift from Jeff’s.
“So, you are single? Well, I still don’t know your name, mind telling me?”
“P-Petra, and these are my friends, uh, Hailey, Eren, and Luke.”
“Hanji, Erwin, and Levi.” Hanji corrected, glaring at Jeff.
“Whatever, so what does the beautiful lady and her friends want?”
“You…” Petra said, still in her daze. She then, realizing what she said, shook her head violently, her face red. “Wait! No! That wasn’t what I meant! I mean I do, but NO! I’ll have blueberry pancakes with orange juice.”
Jeff then averted his gaze from Petra and to the rest of the table. “And for the rest?”
“For you to die, and stop messing with my OTP’s…”
Jeff just smirked and turned to Erwin and Levi. “What about you two?”
“Red, white, and blue pancakes with french roast coffee.” Erwin ordered.
“Buttermilk pancakes, a plate of bacon, and vodka.” Levi looked up to see Petra glaring at him. “And a piece of toast.”
“We don’t serve vodka, idiot.”
“Fine. Then a glass of orange juice.”
“Okay, I’ll be right back.” Jeff winked at Petra and walked back to the kitchen.
“Did you see the way he was flirting with you?! He’s going to ruin my ships!” Hanji crossed her arms.
“He was cute though…” Petra propped her elbows on the table and put her head in her hands, starting to daydream.
“No! Stop! You can not like him! Jeff and Petra are my nOTP!”
“Yeah, yeah, but his eyes were so dreamy and blue and…” Petra trailed off, continuing to daydream.
“Great! She’s in fangirl mode!”
“What does that even mean?” Levi asked.
“It’s where a girl obsesses over a guy and totally ignores the rest of the world!”
“So, I won’t have to run tomorrow because she’s too busy fangirling? I don’t see the problem.”
“Well, I do! And so does Erwin! Right, Erwin?”
“Yeah, sure, whatever she said.” Erwin kept his eyes glued to his phone.
“See? Erwin thinks so too!”
“No, he’s just in “Clash of Clans” mode, he’s just going to ignore the world because he’s obsessing over a game.” Levi said, putting his feet on the table.
“Ugh! I don’t care, you guys are my OTP! You WILL be together!”
“No, we wont. Right, Petra?”
“Yeah…” Petra said, her head still in the clouds.
“NO! SHE WILL BE WITH YOU AND ONLY YOU! THAT IS FINAL! RIGHT, ERWIN?!”
“Yeah, listen to her Levi."
“No, we are not going to be together, right Petra?”
“Yeah, yeah, is Jeff back yet?”
A couple of seconds later, Jeff comes back with their drinks. "I'm sorry for the wait, princess." Jeff winked at her before placing the drinks at the table.
"You're fine... I mean! You're good! Not that you're fine, even though you are really fine, I didn't mean it like that! You know what? I'm gonna be quiet now."
Jeff chuckled. "You're fine. And I mean in both ways..." Jeff winked again before walking back to the kitchen.
Petra covered her completely tomato red face with her hands.
"I can't believe you're falling for that playboy shit..."
