Kang Moo and Hana arrive to find Hee Tae tending to Ms. Oh with the others help.

"Hana, what's wrong? Where's your shoe? What happened? Where's Soo-ho?" Seung Hee questions, concern on her face seeing her crying daughter.

"...He stayed behind." Kang Moo answers, shocking everyone. "All of you wait here."

He gets his gun ready and heads outside to check if the coast is clear. Hana looks back, listening to the gunshots. She recalls the promises Soo-ho and her made to each other making her look back at her mother who realizes what she plans to do.

"Hana-"

"I have to go, eomma. I have to bring him back." Hana says and hurries inside before her mother can stop her.

"No, Hana! HANA!!" Seung Hee screams, alerting the others. She attempts to go after her but is held back by Kang Moo who just returned. "Let me go! Not her! Not my child!"

"Nam Hana, come back here!" Hye Ryung shouts, trying to get pass Kang Moo. "Hana!"

All of a sudden, honking is heard from the outside confusing Kang Moo.

Soo-ho shoots the last guy and lets out a weary sigh. He uses the wall as support to walk but stops as he hears footsteps coming his way. When he looks up, his eyes widened by the person standing before him. She hurries towards him and uses her fist to lightly hit his chest repeatedly.

"Stupid! I promised that I would always stay by your side so how can I leave you?! And you agreed to not allowed to die before me! We're supposed to long lives! Until we're old and wrinkly! Then we'll die together! You promised! And look at you right now! You're still handsome but you look horrible too! Did you get shot again?!" She rants making him give her a loving smile.

He gently grabs her wrist to stop her from hitting him and pulls her into a hug.

"You crazy woman." He lets out a quiet laugh and kisses the top of her head. "Come on. Let's get going."

She sniffles and wraps his arm around her shoulders to support him. 

"...If it makes you feel any better, I got your shoe back. Wouldn't want your sock getting dirty, right?"

"You're lucky I can't call you a butthead!" She continues crying.

"Yah!" The two are surprised to see Hye Ryung appear before them. "I swear you two give me such a headache! Hurry up and let's go!"

Hye Ryung hurries outside, informing the others that the couple is right behind her. As soon as she reaches the jeep, the couple steps outside and is surprised by the honking.

"Hey! Oppa! Sister-in-law!" They see Soo-hui waiting for them in another car that she found. Young Ro, Seol Hui and Jeongmin are also in the car. "Get in!"

As they only manage to get halfway to the car, everyone is suddenly surrounded by reinforcements of SWAT team. Kang Moo and Soo-hui get out of their cars, pointing their guns at them. Soo-ho quickly takes a protective stance in front of Hana.

"Nam Hana! Eun Young Ro!" Someone shouts and they look to see Ahn Gyeong-hui coming their way. "You two have been thorns in my sides because your fathers kept trying to save you both. All this could have been settled sooner had they done what the president wanted!"

"Ahn Gyeong-hui-" Seung Hee gets out of the car only to get a gun pointed at her by an agent.

"Stay right there, you traitorous wench. I spared your daughter's life, and this is how you repay me?" Gyeong hui snaps before turning his attention back on Hana. "Now Hana. I'll give you a chance just like I did for your mother nineteen years ago."

"You mean when you buttheads took me from her and threatened my life so that you could get money?"

"Oh, I never expected a little thing like you to be sassy!" Gyeong-hui laughs making Soo-ho glare at the man. "Well now your case is similar. I'll spare your loved ones if you tell me where the money is."

"...Sooho-ssi. Don't stop me, okay? I need to do this." 

Hana moves from behind Soo-ho and walks over Gyeong-hui. Before Soo-ho can stop her, he gets more guns pointed at him.

"...No, you won't." She tells the man with a straight face, surprising him. "Do you think I'm a fool? I'm not falling for any of your tricks. Everything has already been exposed to the public. You all are already facing backlash from the families and other civilians. People are demanding a new president. Why still even continue? It's over and you know it. Even if I told you where the money is, you would still kill everyone here. What you should really be doing right now instead of threatening me is...accept defeat. It's all you can do at this point seeing as you'll be going to prison soon."

"...Since you take after your father...how about you follow in his footsteps and join him in the afterlife?" He takes out a gun from his jacket, pointing it at her making her best friends scream.

Soo-ho, Soo-hui and Kang Moo try to get to her, but the agents shoot at the ground preventing them from moving any further.

"How dare you... A brat like you out of all people... Try to tell me that I've lost? No! That's not how this goes! How about this? You give me the money and I won't shoot you in front of your mother." He says, letting out an evil laugh.

"Ahn Gyeong-hui! It's me that you should target that gun at! Hana isn't at fault for any of this-"

"Shut up! This all started with your family getting in the way!"

"You mean when you all couldn't stand how my appa rose in the ranks by making such better accomplishments than you all. He was able to get things done the clean way whereas you buttheads chose to dirty those hands. How much blood is on those hands other than my appa's? Ahn Gyeong-hui..." Hana takes a step forward and scoffs. "You're a coward."

"...What?" He asks, a look of disbelief on his face. "You-"

"STAND DOWN! NOW!"

The SWAT team is suddenly surrounded by ANSP agents causing a standoff between the two teams, but a few SWAT members still remained focused on Soo-ho, Soo-hui and Kang Moo. What surprises Seung Hee even more is she recognizes the ANSP agents as the ones who worked for Il-sung before were forced to work for Tae-il.

"It's over, Ahn Gyeong-hui! Put down your weapon and step away from the girl!" One of the agents' orders.

Before he can respond, he is shocked to see the one leading the team is Nam Tae-il who comes towards him and Hana.

"Stop there!" Gyeong-hui yells, now targeting the gun at Tae-il, forcing the man to stop in his tracks. "How did you get out?"

Tae-il gives Hana an apologetic look then turns his attention to Gyeong-hui.

"Gyeong-hui... Let's stop now."

"...What?"

"My namdongsaeng was right. We created all this madness, and we should have stopped a long time ago. People like us? We're the ones who bring out the ugliness of the world. We were so greedy for power that we didn't care who got hurt or suffer the consequences so now... Let this be our end to our greed. Just put the gun down and let Hana go. The police are already on their way here, let's not things worse for ourselves." Tae-il tells, slowly taking a few steps as he finishes.

Gyeong-hui suddenly begins laughing. "You've really become soft because of this brat. She was never supposed to mean anything to you. Her reason to live was to get you the money that you deserved. But now? This brat and her friends ruined everything! All our plans! Everything that we worked for! And you want to give up?! Nam Tae-il... You should have gotten rid of her sooner! So... I'll just do it for you."

As if everything goes into slow motion, everyone screams as Gyeong-hui points his gun back at Hana and suddenly...gunshots ring out. 

Hana stands frozen in place as she blinks multiple times to process what happened. Once she comes to her senses, her eyes widened upon seeing Tae-il kneeling in front of her with a gunshot wound in his chest. After he falls onto the ground, she stumbles over to him. He groans as she places hands onto his wound, applying pressure.

"Hana..." He weakly calls out to her.

"You-you're going t-to be fine-fine." She stutters while blinking her tears back.

"Hana!" Soo-ho runs over to them and looks over at the screaming Gyeong-hui who had been shot in the arm and leg by a couple of ANSP agents. The police just arrived, and the SWAT team stands down.

"Stay there with Ms. Oh!" Hee Tae shouts at Hye Ryung as he runs over to help Tae-il and Hana. "We need an ambulance!"

"What are you worrying about me for? You said that I was going to get karma." Tae-il lets out a weak laugh.

"This isn't what I meant!" Hee Tae snaps, taking over Tae-il's wound for Hana.

Tae-il sighs and gently takes Hana's hand. "Hana... Don't cry for me. I'm a terrible human being who deserve your tears nor forgiveness. Because of me, you've witnessed things you shouldn't had to see. Il-sung just wanted you to have a peaceful life. He wanted to be there to watch you grow up and I robbed him of that. I truly do regret the decisions that I made. But there's no changing them and that's on me... Before I go, I need you to know all records of your father will be brought to light again. They will know of his good deeds of how he tried to change the ANSP for the better... And they will know of my crimes. Those agents that I brought along with me. They originally worked for your father. They'll make sure that the ANSP will become your father wanted it to be. So, you don't have to worry anymore. You will be able to live peacefully from now on..."

"Could you stop talking as if you're going to die?! You'll be-"

"Hee Tae." Tae-il cuts him off. "I'm tired. I've been tired for a long time... You take care of her." He then looks at Soo-ho. "Same goes for you. I'm not asking for my sake but for my younger brother."

"Appa..." She sobs.

"Didn't think...you would...still call me that... But... it's nice...to hear you...say it...one last time..." He murmurs, shedding a tear.

Flashback

"Would you get her to shut up?! I can't stand it anymore! She's been like this for almost a month!" Tae-il screams at his wife.

"Lower your voice! You're only making it worse! What do you think I've been trying to do?! She wants her parents! What can I do about that?!" Seong-sim screams back, trying to calm down baby Hana.

"MAMA! DADA!" Hana cries.

"Damn it!" He yells and accidentally knocks over a vase.

"Careful! What are you... Is that butterscotch candy?" 

He crouches down and picks up a piece of candy. When he looks at the broken pieces of the vase, he soon recalls it as Il-sung's favorite vase as their father would always put in butterscotch candy for his youngest son.

"Honey... She stopped crying!" Seong-sim informs him. 

He looks up to see Hana no longer crying and instead gazing at the candy on the floor. He stands back up and takes her from his wife. He holds out his hand with the candy in his hand and she touches them, making her look up at her uncle with a smile. Because of that he feels his heart warming.

"Quite soothing, isn't it? When she's not crying, she's such an angel. I remember when I held her for the first time, it felt like I was in another world..." Seong-sim says, moving closer to them. "Honey! I just realized that this your first time holding her!"

"...It is." He murmurs, still staring at the smiling baby who reminds him so much of his brother.

End of Flashback

"If... If we meet...again...in our...next lives... I promise to...be a...better..."

Tae-il's eyes suddenly close and his hand falls from Hana's grip and onto the ground. She lets out a shaky breath, picking his hand back up only it onto the ground again. Looking at him and seeing the peaceful look on his face, the good memories of him all come flooding back in making her sob. Soo-ho quickly takes her into his arms as Hee Tae looks up at the sky with a sorrowful look.

A few days later, Ahn Gyeong-hui and Eun Chang-su have been imprisoned for their crimes while the president is forced to step down from his position.

Hana has returned to her former home meeting with her aunt/adoptive mother.

"Please leave from here and have a fresh start somewhere new." Hana tells a surprised Seong-sim.

"Hana-"

"I won't forgive him for killing my real appa and taking me away from my mother. He didn't want my forgiveness and I don't think that I could forgive him anyway. So instead... I'll thank him for raising me my whole life. For always coming to my performances and being the loudest one to applaud. For always getting me butterscotch whenever I ran out. For sending me fried chicken whenever I was having a bad day... And introducing me to the father I never got to know. Visiting who I thought was my Uncle Il-sung... It always warmed my heart... I will thank you too." Hana tells her with a smile making Seong-sim tear up. "Thank you for raising me as well. For also supporting me in my performances. Always making sure I was dressed warmly before I went out even though you went overboard sometimes. And for taking my side whenever someone had a problem with me... I won't forget all that you both did for me."

Hana gets up from her seat and bows before the woman. After she straightens back up and prepares to leave, Seong-sim calls out to her.

"Thank you... I know that I didn't deserve to be your mother but... Thank you. And... I'll look forward to seeing you on the big screen someday. I just know that you'll become a successful actress."

Hana doesn't turn around and walks forward with a tearful smile. Seong-sim drops to the floor, crying her eyes out. Once Hana steps outside, Soo-ho walks over to her and offers her his hand which she happily accepts.

Seung Hee, the couple and Soo-hui stand in front of Il-sung's shrine. The youngest Lim sibling steps forward and bows before his picture.

"Thank you for lending me your scarf and saving us that day. I will always be grateful... You were a good man, Nam Il-sung." She smiles and returns to her brother's side.

"If it hadn't been for you, we wouldn't be here today. You saved many lives and inspired a lot of people. I will never forget your efforts to fight for those who weren't able to fight for themselves. Because of you, we will be able to live peacefully. And I promise that I will cherish and protect your daughter every day for the rest of my life." Soo-ho says and bows before his picture.

Seung Hee goes over to Il-sung's picture and places a bouquet of snowdrops.

"I'm sorry that I'm late, bonehead."

Hana stands beside her mother and puts a bunch of butterscotch next to the bouquet.

"Take all of it, appa! Eomma threatened to take away all my butterscotch because I tried to defend a sweet old lady from a thief! Enjoy it!" Hana mutters, pouting.

"Do you not realize how dangerous it was?" Seung Hee snaps.

"How is it any different from what you would do?! I saw your yearbook! You were known as the dorm's protector!" Hana retorts only to end up earning a pinch. "Ow! Let me go!"

As the Lim siblings' step in and try to stop the mother-daughter bickering, the smiling Il-sung watches them before he disappears.

So it was supposed to be one chapter left after this I'm not sure. It'll be one or two left. A lot of stuff I had to take out of from here and saved for the next chapter.

Weren't expecting Tae-il's death, were you? In the show they all went to prison, but I felt like at least one of them should have been killed off. I planned from the start to kill off Tae-il. And let me explain that I'm not trying to redeem his character. He was a sh*tty guy who did lots of terrible things. I wanted him to realize that he was always wrong and at least do one right thing in his life. For his brother and Hana.

I was kinda disappointed that I couldn't do more with Seong-sim and what scenes to put her in because in the show she was one of the annoying wives. So I'm glad that I gave Hana closure with the woman who raised her.

This probably isn't the best conclusion, but it was the best I could come up with. What did you think?
