Let Her Go
Back inside the ANSP tent, everyone is listening in Soo-ho and Ms. Pi talking through the listening devices that have been set up in the dorm.
"The daughter of the ANSP director have been living in the dorm? That must've been bothering you."
"Why are you asking me that out of the blue?"
"I heard the ANSP director is one of the most powerful people here in South. And such a person's daughter is here living in the dorm?"
"Did Young Ro tell you that herself she is the daughter of the ANSP director? She was quiet about it even when she was being kicked out of here."
"...Kicked out?"
"It was decided she leave the dorm as punishment for hiding you. She was willing to take all the blame for herself because she saw it as repaying Hana and Hye Ryung for their friendship for the past five years."
"She hid him? Hid the communist spy?" Tae-il asks a shocked Chang-su as he gets up from his seat. "Your daughter really did it?!"
"She helped you because she believed she was doing the right thing. All the girls from Room 207 did. They all did it for Hana."
"...What? What does my daughter have to do with-"
"Imagine what those girls must be feeling right now. A man they all grew to care for. A man that Hana fell for... Turned out to be the spy that the ANSP was chasing and now we're in this situation. If you can understand that even just a little bit, it's only right for you to relases as many hostages as possible. That is...the least you could do for them who saved you risking their lives. For Hana...the woman that you love."
"...So Hana's boyfriend is Lim Soo-ho? The guy who I saw with her at the open house was him?" Hee Tae asks with a look of disbelief.
Tae-il stands there shocked and suddenly faints. The agents nearby shout and run to his aid whereas Hee Tae and Chang-su are still processing everything they just heard.
Ms. Pi enters the restroom and heads to the last stall.
Ms. Pi slides her back against the wall until she lands on the floor. She closes her eyes for a moment before she takes something out of her pocket.
"...She takes so much after you that I can't stand it. What I am suppose to do?" She murmurs, blinking back her tears.
She regains her composure and lifts up her dress to unstrap the walkie talkie on leg...
"How much longer are you going to keep sulking? Hmm?" Chung-ya asks as she tends to Hana's hand injury. "If you keep looking like that who knows what will happen to that cute face of yours."
"I hate men." Hana mutters with her face scrunched up.
"Now I know that's a lie and you hate lying." Chung-ya says, glancing her with a smirk. "All done. How about you check on him while I see what's going on out there?"
"Okay..." Hana replies, pouting.
After watching Hana go over to Eung Cheol, Chung-ya goes to look outside the room and sees Soo-ho coming.
"How is he?" He asks in a concerned tone.
"His temperature's still 38°C and it's not going down." She informs him and motions for him to come in.
Soo-ho glances at Hana who is ignoring his presence since she is taking care of Eung Cheol. Chung-ya signals him to be quiet the points at one of the listening devices in the wall, notifying him that the dorm is bugged.
"It's because the infection caused a high white blood cell count. Hana gave him a fever reducer, so it'll go down in about two to three hours." Chung-ya says making Hana while lifting up her sleeve and showing him what she wrote on her arm.
"Swat team breaking in soon. The whole dorm is being wiretapped."
"...Then why don't you treat their team leader until then?" Soo-ho suggests.
"I think that's better as well." Chung-ya agrees.
"The ANSP leader will be treated first." Soo-ho announces as he walks out the room. "Comrade."
Gyeok-chan marches over to him angrily. "Treat him? We should be killing him."
"For now, it's most important to maintain mutual trust." Soo-ho says, looking up at the listening device before walking away.
"Trust? Their goal is killing us. How can we trust them?" Gyeok-chan argues, going after his leader.
"Just keep an eye on the hostages. That's your job." Soo-ho snaps, coming to a stop and looks back at Young Ro who is covered by the curtain. "Especially by those windows."
"How dare that bastard threaten us like that!" Tae-il yells after hearing Soo-ho inform Kang Moo how he rigged the dorm with bombs. "Ow, my head." He whines while holding ice pack to his head.
"Oh my god..." Hee Tae mumbles and places his hand on the table to steady himself.
"Eun." Tae-il asks, getting up from his seat. "Don't tell me you believe that bullshit."
"I should. We both should." Chang-su answers, now facing him. "If the bombs explode and the students get killed, what will you do?"
"You'll blow yourself and your men up? Aren't you their leader? Is Geum-cheol's death not enough? Are you going to lead the rest to death too?" They hear Kang Moo asking Soo-ho.
"I'll do anything for my men's honor. I won't let them die as traitors. I'd rather blow ourselves up to die heroes for my country."
Chang-su sighs and sits down, making Tae-il scoff.
"What is this? Don't tell me what he just said is scaring you. My goodness." Tae-il then pats him on the shoulder. "You're too chicken to serve this country. We can just get them all at once before they blow themselves up."
"Oh, quit the tough guy act already! " Hee Tae yells. "Get them all at once? How are you going to do that? One of them is injured but the other two are still standing and they have guns! They can easily shoot up everyone if they wanted too!"
"I already have a plan in action." Tae-il informs them and chuckles. "Dr. Kang will knock out two of the communist spies with injections and Hanna will get rid of the booby traps in the basement. That's when the SWAT team will go in and kill the spies. I call it Operation One-shot-two-kills. Saving both our daughters and getting them at the same time. What do you think? Isn't it a good idea?"
"Are you insane? They'll blow themselves up if we fool them again."
Tae-il rolls his eyes and notices Hee Tae's disappointed face towards him.
"...That's why you sent noona in there? So that she would kill them?" Hee Tae scoffs. "She's a doctor, how could you ask her to do that? You're unbelievable... Was Hana's father and anyone else not enough for you?"
"HWANG HEE TAE!" Tae-il yells at the young man who leaves the tent.
When Kang Moo is brought into the cafeteria by Soo-ho, he is quickly brought into a hug by Hanna. During that, Hana uses the opportunity to check on Young Ro who is still at the window.
"Roro." Hana whispers and hugs her twin. "How could you tell him who you really are? He would have used me if you hadn't said anything."
"I rather I get used instead of you." Young Ro replies, hugging her back. "And don't you remember what I told you? How else am I going to repay you for these past five years?"
"You already did that when you got kicked out." Hana murmurs, on the verge of tears. "Stop repaying me already and trying to me leave me."
"How could I ever leave my twin? You're my other half." Young Ro says, pulling back from her. "Don't cry, Hanny."
"Hana. Come back now." Chung-ya whispers.
"Get going. I'll be fine." Young Ro says, giving her twin another hug.
"...You know you're not a human shield, right? You're the bestest person ever! Please don't tell Teddy that I said that."
Young Ro gives her a big smile and laughs. Once Hana moves from out of the curtain, she and Chung-ya hold hands as they head back to the sick room.
"Have you gotten into any more trouble while I wasn't here, kid?" Kang Moo asks after Chung-ya and Hana finished up tending to his wound.
"Umm... Does throwing my shoe at a butthead and slapping someone count?" Hana asks with an innocent smile.
He sighs while putting on his jacket. "...You and Hanna will definitely get along well."
"Could you put the rifle away?" Chung-ya asks Gyeok-chan who is watching them. "Don't you know about the Geneva Conventions? Even during war, you can't attack any of your enemy's medical staff or hospitals that wounded soldiers are in." She says while taking off her gloves and opening her bag.
"What did you do to him? Why isn't he waking up?" Gyeok-chan questions her.
"Midazolam is a sedative you use before surgery." She explains, closing the bag.
"Wait." He says, making the others pause. "Stand up."
Chung-ya slowly stands up and backs away as Gyeok-chan opens the bag back up. The three of them glance at each other,
"Look. How could you suspect the doctor? If they wanted to kill you, they wouldn't have sent in a doctor but an armed agent." Kang Moo says trying to ease the tension and hoping he doesn't find the gun but...
Their hopes are diminished when Gyeok-chan pulls out the gun from the bag. Hana's eyes widened and she quickly steps in front of Chung-ya with her arms out wide.
"Hana!" Chung-ya yells, trying to pull the girl back.
"She didn't know that was there! None of us knew! I swear!" Hana pleads, wanting to protect her aunt figure.
Gyeok-chan stares at Hana for a moment and sighs before standing up.
"Please don't-"
She is suddenly pulled behind Kang Moo and Chung-ya holds her hands up.
"Do what you will to me but keep her out of it."
"...Come out."
Gyeok-chan grabs her arm and drags her outside the room.
"Auntie!" Hana cries.
Soo-ho returns to the cafeteria with Hana's radio that is playing loud music so that the ANSP won't be able to hear them through the listening devices. As soon as he puts it down, he looks over at the with a shocked look.
"I didn't know! I swear! I didn't know about it!" Chung ya pleads to them both.
"Comrade. I found a pistol in her bag. A pistol!" Gyeok-chan informs his leader as Hana comes out of the sick room watching them with tearful eyes.
"...You found it, so let it go." Soo-ho says and turns up the volume on Hana's radio.
"They deceived us three times, but what? "Let it go"? They're looking down on us because you're so soft!" Gyeok-chan hollers and drags over her to the window where Young Ro is.
"Auntie!" Hana catches Chung-ya as Gyeok-chan pushes her aside.
"Comrade Joo! Stand down now!" Soo-ho orders but only to be ignored.
Gyeok-chan then opens the curtains and pushes Young Ro away. He takes Chung-ya away from Hana and puts her in front of the window.
"Please stop it!" Hana begs Gyeok-chan as she helps Young Ro up.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Soo-ho yells at his comrade who points his gun at Chung-ya.
Gyeok-chan ignores him again and breaks the window. "YOU DECIEVED US THREE TIMES! YOU'RE FORCING US TO KILL HER!"
"Don't shoot! Please don't shoot!" Chung-ya screams at the outside help.
From the outside, Tae-il and Hee Tae are seeing Chung-ya their through their binoculars.
"Sniper... Sniper! Hey, kill that communist bastard right now! NOW!" Tae-il orders the agents.
"Are you crazy?! What if they end up shooting noona?!"
"That little... That piece of... How dare those bastards harm my..." Tae-il covers his mouth for a mouth and avoids the suspicious look that Hee Tae is giving him. "You have to save her! At all costs!" He orders the agents before taking one of their guns before pointing it at them. "If you fail to save Dr. Kang, I'll kill all of you! Save her! At all-"
"Shut up! I see Hana!" Hee Tae yells making Tae-il drop the gun and look back through his bionicualrs.
"Where?!" The older man nearly weeps. "Oh, my precious daughter! Save my child you morons! SAVE HER! AT ALL COSTS! SAVE HER THIS INSTANT!"
Back inside, Soo-ho is fighting with Gyeok-chan, trying to take the rifle from him.
"Are you insane?! We need her to save Eung Cheol!" Soo-ho yells.
"Let go! We need to teach them a lesson right now!"
As the two fight with one another, the hidden pistol that Gyeok-chan took from Chung-ya falls onto the floor and Soo-ho's foot ends up kicking it over to Hana. The twins hear someone calling for them.
"Girls! Come here!" Hanna says quietly, gesturing from them to come over to her.
Young Ro is suddenly pushed over to the others, and she looks back shocked to see Hana pointing the gun at the two men.
"Hana! Have you lost your mind?!" Hye Ryung yells, wanting to grab the girl but Byung Tae is holding onto her.
"Nam Hana! Get over here now!" Ms. Pi also yells.
"Hanny!" Many of the dorm girls cry out.
The yelling about Hana catches both men's attention and they are shocked to see Hana pointing a gun towards them.
"Let auntie go." She demands in a shaky voice.
"Hana. Give me the gun." Soo-ho says calmly as he slowly goes towards Hana.
"Stay away! Just let her go!" She pleads now pointing the gun at him making him stop.
"Kid. It's okay. Put it down. We don't want you getting hurt." Kang Moo now stepping in and puts his hands up when Gyeok-chan points his gun at him and Soo-ho also takes out his gun. "Hey! Easy, easy... Your teammate hasn't been treated yet. He'll die if he doesn't get treated. For sure."
Kang Moo sees that he's gotten their attention and continues.
"If you kill the doctor, they'll never send in another doctor. You've been fooled three times. Shouldn't you take advantage of this chance? They have no choice but to do what you ask because you might blow yourselves up. Oh, right. To get out of her safely, you also need a means of transportation. Right?"
"...Comrade Joo. Lower your weapon." Soo-ho tells him and after a few seconds, he finally lowers it.
"Sweetie. It's okay now. Please put it down." Chung-ya says after letting out a breath of relief.
Suddenly a shot is fired through the window by a sniper and it almost hits Gyeok-chan. While people in the background begin screaming, the others nearby the window crouch or attempt to take cover.
"Those bastards!" Gyeok-chan yells and begins firing. "I'll kill all of you!"
"Hey, don't fire back! Who shot in the first place?! I TOLD YOU NOT TO SHOOT! WHAT IF YOU END UP SHOOTING MY DAUGHTER?!" Tae-il shouts at the agents.
"Don't shoot!" Hee Tae yells at them, worried for his girls.
Noticing Hana still out in the open, Soo-ho quickly brings her into his arms as he pushes them both onto floor. As he shields her with his body, he doesn't realize that Young Ro's paper airplane falls out of his jacket pocket. Both their heartbeats quicken with them being so close to one another. After a minute and making sure she is unharmed, he gets up and heads over to Gyeok-chan, snatching the gun from him and warns him to stop wasting bullets. The Room 207 girls hurry over to her and Hye Ryung brings the younger girl into her arms to scold her. During that, Young Ro is the first to notice the paper airplane and picks it up.
"Young Ro. What is that?" Jeongmin asks making the others look at Young Ro.
Young Ro unfolds the paper airplane, and the girls begin to read it.
How could you not call her?
How could you not tell the rest of us that you were going back to Germany?
I'm getting kicked out of the dorm tomorrow, so I have one request to ask of you.
She's not allowed to receive calls from anyone other than her parents now. And you can't come back to the dorm. So how about you call for me or one of the others and ask to see her? That way, we can help you two meet.
Please do this. She's having a hard time because something happened with her parents and me being kicked out... And I can tell that she misses you.
"He found it?" Young Ro asks with a shocked look on her face.
"Wait... Did he come back to the dorm because..." Seol Hui asks.
The girls hear someone approaching them and look up to see Soo-ho.
"You... Don't tell me that you..." Hye Ryung murmurs.
His eyes widened when he sees Young Ro holding the note and snatches it out of her hand before walking away from them. He feels himself step on something and looks down to find a necklace. He picks it up and is shocked when he recognizes it.
While Soo-ho goes to remove all the bugs in the dorm, Hana sits next to Chung-ya aside from everyone else.
"Hana." Chung-ya gently strokes Hana's cheek with her thumb. "Thank you but don't ever don't something like that again. I don't want you getting hurt anymore, okay? And here." She takes the folded envelope out of her jacket pocket and gives it to Hana. "It's from Hee Tae. He seemed really down so I think you should read it."
Hana stares it at for a few seconds before nodding. Seeing Gyeok-chan returning to the cafeteria, she quickly puts it in her pocket. He comes towards them and grabs Chung-ya's arm pulling her up. He looks at Hana only to be ignored. He sighs and as he pulls the older woman along with him. When Hana looks back at them, Chung-ya gives her a smile. Once they are gone, Hana takes the letter back out as her best friends hurry over to her.
"Who is that from?" Jeongmin asks.
"Auntie said it's from Hee Tae." Hana replies and begins reading the letter.
My little star,
I'm sorry. I found out about your adoption about four years ago and just never had the courage to tell you the truth. It's hard to explain and I felt if you knew the whole truth, it would break you. Which is why I decided to stay silent and let you continue believing that they were your real parents. I knew how much you loved them, and I couldn't bring myself to ruin it. But I want you to know this... I don't know anything about your mother, but I can at least give you something about your father... He was a good man who saved a lot of people. If you still want the truth, then I'll give it to you once you're out of there. I'm pretty sure that you're going through a lot right now so focus on your well-being and eat the butterscotch I left you.
I love you.
P.S.
The fried chicken is on me once you're out of there if you'll still want me around.
I hope that Hye Ryung is more worried about her life than her outfit.
And tell Young Ro that we're still going to have that next date, so she better be prepared.
She looks inside the envelope to find a few pieces of butterscotch candy in it.
"How can he easily think that I would be more worried about fashion over my life?" Hye Ryung mutters, rolling her eyes.
"Hanny?" Young Ro watches her twin with a concerned look noticing how quiet she's being.
"...I need some air." Hana murmurs, handing Young Ro the letter and envelope before leaving them.
"Is she going to be alright? Other than finding out about her adoption and what's happened here in the dorm..." Jeongmin rubs her forehead, feeling frustrated by the events. "Just how much worse can things get? I don't how much more she can take."
After Gyeok-chan and Soo-ho bring Chung-ya back to the cafeteria, everyone quickly returns to their places.
"Look." Ms. Pi says, getting Soo-ho's attention. "You should feed the students. They haven't eaten in days.
"She's right!" Ms. Oh sides with her. "And Mr. Kim's blood sugar is too low!"
Soo-ho ponders before a moment before agreeing to do so. Ms. Oh smiles and hurries to the kitchen. He then looks around, frowning when he doesn't find the person that he's looking for and heads over to the Room 207 girls.
"Where is she?" Soo-ho questions them.
Hye Ryung points back to the window. "She went over there after your lapdog took the doctor. She won't come out."
Before he can go over there, Young Ro speaks up.
"Soo-ho... You didn't come to the dorm because of that paper airplane, did you?"
He stands there for a moment before heading over to where Hana is. He moves the curtain and grabs her hand, pulling her with him out of the cafeteria.
"You're not going to fight with him about taking Hanny?" Seol Hui asks Hye Ryung.
"What's the point? He just keeps doing as he pleases anyway." Hye Ryung mutters back as a reply.
Soo-ho brings Hana into a room and sits her down on a chair as he crouches in front of her.
"What... What is wrong with you? Are you trying to make me angry?" He asks, trying to remain calm.
"You're angry? You? What do you have to be angry about when I'm the one who's angry? I've been surrounded by nothing but liars." She mutters and rubs her forehead.
"NAM HANA!" He shouts, making her jump. "You stood in front of a gun twice. You keep trying to protect everyone else and even got hurt once. Then you put yourself in danger again by picking up a gun!"
"Me?! You and your friends shot up the dorm! You're the one who's waving a gun around at everyone! You threatened Hye Ryung's life! You pointed a gun at Young Ro's head three times! You even called her a human shield and actually used her as one! You have the nerve to be talking about my actions right now?!" Hana yells back at him and hits his chest with her fist. "Why did you have to be so cruel towards her?! I told you to use me as your hostage instead! And you put this whole dorm in danger because of that paper airplane?! You did all that! That was you!"
She gets up from the seat and tries to head to the door but grabs her wrist and pushes her until her back hits the wall.
"What are you doing?! Let go of me!" She yells, struggling against him.
"Do you think that I'm enjoying this? Do you honestly believe that I want to watch you all suffer? There's nothing that I can do but watch and it's driving me crazy." He closes his eyes and leans his forehead against hers. "Hana. Please just bear with me until we all can get out of here."
When he doesn't receive a reply, he opens his eyes and his face turns into that of concern when she suddenly goes limp in his arms.
"Hana?! Hana?!"
Bonus Scene
"Soo-ho!"
"Oppa!"
Young Ro and Seol Hui approach Soo-ho once he arrives at the dorm.
"Are you here to see Hanny?" Seol Hui asks and he nods with a smile.
"She's not here right now. She went to go to visit a family friend." Hye Ryung informs him as she walks out of the entrance with Jeongmin behind her.
"How about hang out with us until Hanny comes back? We can party and do karaoke!" Young Ro suggests with a giggle.
"Or we could go shopping and he carries our bags?" Hye Ryung also suggests with a smirk.
"Let's go do karaoke." Soo-ho quickly answers, wrapping his arms around the younger girls shoulders and leading them away.
"You sure he listens to you?" Jeongmin teases a scowling Hye Ryung before following the others.
Gyeok-chan is heading back to his car and stops when a familiar face passes by him. His eyes widened realizing it to be the girl who gave him the umbrella. Before he can call out to her, she already gets on the bus, and he quickly gets into his car to follow it. After some time, she gets off at her stop and walks along the path until she arrives a shrine. He walks quietly towards the entrance trying not to disturb her and his eyes widened seeing the picture of a familiar person.
"That's..." He murmurs and looks back at her. "So it's her... I didn't think I would actually get to meet her after all this time."
End of episode seven! We're halfway through the show now! I wanted to get this out, but I had such a HUGE writer's block concerning the ending. If you realized, I didn't kill off Young U. It just didn't feel right doing so in this because this is more about Hana than Young Ro. I did almost consider killing off Hee Tae or him getting shot during one of those events, but it didn't seem right either. The news part will still be coming but Soo-ho will be kept out of it. Because now that the ANSP know Hana has been in a relationship with him, Tae-il doesn't want to take any chances of anybody recognizing Soo-ho if you get what I mean.
How do you all think I handle the ending of this since I changed it from how it originally ended? I was struggling with the argument between our Soona that I even tried to put the confession in there. But I'm going to save that and it will be coming soon!
Ooh! Now I was deciding when the best time was to reveal it and here it is! Tae-il killed Hana's biological father. That's why Hee Tae is so ill towards the man and why he was never able to tell Hana the truth because he knew she would react badly. Do you think that his explanation in the letter was good enough?
I also decided that Gyeok-chan was not going to beat up Chung-ya but I still stayed true to how he handle things in the show. I wanted to get the protective Soo-ho over Hana moment.
I hope that I'm doing well with the ANSP scenes because it is a challenge on which ones to include and including Hee Tae into them.
Anyone got any ideas about that bonus scene? What's going on there? Hmm...
