Don't Let Me Go

"Hana?" Soo-ho whispers, thinking he heard Hana's voice.

"Soo-ho, what are you doing?" Chung-ya asks, getting his attention. "We need to go now."

He looks back once more before finally climbing up the window.

Just as Hana reaches the secret door that leads to the outside, Kang Moo stops her from opening it.

"They won't kill them as long as they have the money and Young Ro is with them." He tries to reassure her, putting his hand on her shoulder. "I don't know who sent out that order but we can't trust Eun Chang-su and I don't know what happened with Nam Tae-il. But what I do know is that you, your mother and I have to fight against them now. It's up to us now... Alright?"

She looks at him sadly and nods.

"If we take a detour, we'll never get there by two." Chung-ya says, looking at the checkpoint where guards are checking identifies.

"There are only two of them. I'll go kill them." Eung Cheol says as he pulls out his gun and looks at his leader who stops him.

"Then we'll end up giving them the lead. We can't let them find out where we're headed." Soo-ho tells him. "...We have no choice but to split up."

"Huh?! But Soo-ho!" Young Ro grabs his arm, shaking her head.

"It likely that they know what I look like because Kang Moo had been chasing me for years. He must have had a drawing of me made. Eung Cheol, Soo-hui and Comrade Joo, they don't know what your faces, so take the car. Young Ro, you go with them as well. Get on the floor and hide under the blanket just in case. Comrade Kang and I will go on foot." Soo-ho informs them, shocking them all.

"I had a ship departing at eight just in case. We'll take that." Chung-ya adds, easing the others worries a bit. "You four go first and wait for us at Qingdao Port."

"Oppa..." Soo-hui leans forward and gives her brother an annoyed look. "Did you happen to have hit your head or something? Do you honestly believe that I'm leaving you to go with Tweedledum and Tweedledee?"

"Stop calling me that!" Both men whispers.

"If you don't let me stay with you, I'll tell sister-in-law all your embarrassing stories. Every... Single... One." She threatens him with a smirk.

"Ha! As if Comrade Lim would let you-" Eung Cheol smirks back at her and stops when he suddenly hears the door open and sees Soo-ho getting out.

"What are you waiting for? Let's get going." Soo-ho says to his sister who giggles.

Eung Cheol stares at his leader with a shocked expression as Gyeok-chan snorts because of how quickly Soo-ho gave in.

"Be safe, you three." Chung-ya tells them as she gets out of the car.

Soo-ho looks to see Young Ro sadly looking at him. He musters up a smile and put his arm through the open window to gently pat the top of her head.

"I'll be okay." He tells her then looks over at his comrades. "Eung Cheol. Gyeok-chan. Let's have a drink there."

Gyeok-chan scoffs and puts a butterscotch in his mouth. "Are you sure you can handle it?"

"Hey, you should feel honored to have a drink with Comrade Lim!" Eung Cheol snaps, smacking his comrade's knee.

"By the guy who can't even fight back against his own sister?" Gyeok-chan retorts, raising an eyebrow.

"Ah, Gyeok-chan! You're finally growing a brain!" Soo-hui jokes, receiving a glare.

As the three bicker, Young Ro scoots closer to the door so that she can give Soo-ho a hug.

"I really need to know something... Not including Hana because you love her the most who is your favorite? Hye Ryung, Seol Hui, Jeongmin or me?" She asks with her fingers crossed.

He smirks and playfully rolls his eyes. "You know the answer since it was always obvious. Of course, it's you."

"I know. I just wanted to hear you say it. Don't worry, I won't tell the others. This stays between us." She says making him chuckle and hugs him for another minute before finally letting him go.

Soo-ho gives her another smile before nodding at his comrades. He then hides in a bush with his sister and Chung-ya as they watch them drive down to the checkpoint. Once they see them get away safely, they take their leave unaware of the person in the car that passes by them...

"This is Gal Sang-sik, a political reporter at JBC who first covered Professor Han's abduction. Since then, we have concluded that the lives of the remaining hostages in the dorm are in danger."

The Room 207 girls and Hee Tae go inside upon hearing the radio. Hana ignores the other dorm girls saying her name and those giving her apologetic looks, not forgetting the things they had said about Young Ro and her the last time.

"We're bringing you breaking news. According to sources from the inside, the Hosu University hostage situation is an election scheme planned by the key figures of the administration."

"...I'm the agent who led the hostages out when they were released. I'm sorry but there's not much time, so let me say what I must say first. Agent Lee Kang Moo! Are you listening? I... I'm not a man of conviction or a patriot like you, but those trying to kill innocent students to regain power, I can't sit by and watch anymore. I'm going to fight against those bastards. So get out of there alive. And kids, are you listening? You never give up too!"

"You have hard evidence that it's an election scheme, right?" Sang-sik questions Hanna.

"Yes, I do. When I obtained it, I sent it to the press, but the ANSP confiscated it. That's why I decided to expose it myself. I was in the task force myself, and I recorded those leading the scheme with the North-"

"You have listened to the JBC network radio channel from Seoul, the capital of the Republic of Korea."

As many begin to complain, Hana sits next to Kang Moo and gives him a cheeky smile.

"She quite the catch, mister. When's the wedding?" She asks and he ruffles her hair.

Our other North Korean agents are hiding somewhere within the mountains, sitting by a campfire. While Soo-hui and Chung-ya are talking, Soo-ho opens up his bag and becomes surprised to see a certain someone's belongings inside. He takes out a Bambi plushie and smiles.

"Hey, does that belong to Hana? I saw it in their room." Soo-hui asks with a curious smile.

He nods. "I won it for her the at an amusement park. I gave her the nickname Bambi that day."

"Aww! Just like she nicknamed you Soosoo?" She teases making him blush.

"Shut up. Only she's allowed to call me that." He mutters making both women laugh.

The next thing that he takes out is the photo of them that was taken at open house. He chuckles seeing how caught off-guard they both were.

"I remember seeing that. You two didn't even look ready to get your photo taken." Chung-ya mentions with a small smile.

"Ooh! Let me see!" Soo-hui demands while making grabby hands. Soo-ho playfully rolls his eyes at her antics and passes her the photo. "...Wow...Let's thank the existence of suits because it's the only time that my oppa looks handsome." She teases and all of a sudden gets a towel thrown at her face. "Yah!"

What's next out of the bag is Hana's secret stash with a sticky note attached to it saying, "You better eat more of them this time! Last time you barely ate any! And don't forget the butterscotch I put in your pocket!"

He bites his lip to stop himself from laughing and the last things he takes out are a tape and Hana's portable tape player and ear plugs. He puts the tape in the in the player, earplugs in his ears and hits the play button...

"Umm, I really didn't plan to do this but since you made me a tape, I'll make you one too!

Hi Sooho-ssi!

He smiles hearing her giggle.

I'll start off by saying thank you for everything.

Approaching me and lending me your jacket. Taking care of that dove. Buying me the snowdrop snow globe... For the times you made me smile and laugh. Giving each other nicknames. Feeding each other our favorite foods. Protecting me from Hye Ryung and eomma. All the dates we went on, they were so much fun! And always being so supportive.

You truly made me happy during our time together.

When we meet again someday, let's have fun at the next open house if you're around! Also, for our next bike ride I'll take the lead while you hold onto me! I swear I won't crash! And after our official wedding, let's get a pet dove!

Oh and please don't get shot again to end climbing the wall and end up in someone's room. Being your bodyguard is my job, okay? I won't allow anyone else to steal that from me.

I'll miss you but I'll have my butterscotch to keep me company!

Don't worry too much because I love you more, Soosoo!"

Soo-ho tightens his hold on tape player as he bites his lip trying to stop himself from crying. However, he is unable to stop the one tear that falls.

"The ship arrives in ten minutes." Eung Cheol informs his comrade and Young Ro. "Comrade Kang and Comrade Lim must be on their way, right?"

"You know that they are. As if they let anyone stop them." Gyeok-chan replies.

"Please take care and I wish you both safe travels." Young Ro says with a bow before straightening back up. "Let's meet again on better ter-"

All of a sudden, a gunshot is heard and Eung Cheol shouts out in a pain as he holds onto his shoulder. Young Ro screams and Gyeok-chan quickly grabs her, making her take cover. He gets his gun out, ready to face their shooter. When he moves out of cover and is about to take his shot, he is instead in the shoulder like his comrade and falls onto the ground next to his comrade. Young Ro cries as she tries to help them both.

"You know... That brat is going to be so mad at us for getting shot again." Eung Cheol laughs and groans from the pain.

"...R-run..." Gyeok-chan tries to warn her as he sees the shooter approaching.

"...Where are the others?" Young Ro's eyes widened as she recognizes the voice and turns around, unable to believe what she's witnessing...

"...Man Dong?" She whimpers, shocked to see the old man pointing a gun at Gyeok-chan.

After being knocked out, Tae-il was taken to a hidden location. He sits back against the wall feeling tired after had been beaten by Ahn Gyeong-hui's men. Suddenly he hears shouting and people fighting. He jumps when the door is slammed open and is surprised to see his secretary Hui-jin.

"Sir!" Hui-jin hurries over to him. "We've come to rescue you! We need to hurry!"

"Hui-jin... Why did you come here?"

"Did you forget? I serve you with my life." Hui-jin replies with a smile. "Come on. Let's get going."

As the two men manage to avoid all the chaos, they make their escape to the getaway car.

"We'll get you back to your home so that you can get cleaned up and-"

"How bad have things gotten?" Tae-il cuts the man off with a serious tone.

"The president wants things done quickly so... Ahn Gyeong-hui is planning to get the money back first before annihilating not only the spies but everyone in the dorm."

Tae-il sighs and looks sadly out the window. "...I need you to do a couple more things for me."

"Yes! Anything you need, sir!"

"...This is my last chance. Even if I have to throw away my life... I have to save Hana."

After the others managed to find a car and get inside, Chung-ya turns on the stereo and immediately regrets it.

"After the reveal of the hostage situation being an election scheme, parents are demanding their children be freed. However, the Chief of Office Ahn Gyeong-hui is claiming these accusations are false and that they are doing everything to save everyone in the dorm. While Director Eun and General Nam have been dismissed, Chief Ahn has taken lead of the task force and will have the spies eliminated by the end of today."

"Don't let it bother you." Chung-ya turns if off, speaking in an indifferent tone.

Soo-hui sends a worried look at her brother as continues staring at the stereo.

"...He's going to blow up the dorm."

"He needs to get the money back and we split the money up. In oder to get it all back, he has to keep them alive to find out where we are-"

"I have to go back." He says, shocking both women as they also see the determined look on his face knowing he is serious.

"Oppa!"

"You die if you go. They will kill you." Chung-ya tells him, attempting to persuade him.

"Comrade Kang... I'll die if she dies." He tells her in a cracked voice making her tear up. "It's Hana, you know that. The world without her? It wouldn't be worth living in."

Before Chung-ya can respond, the doors suddenly open, and the trio are shocked to see Man Dong and his partner pointing guns at them.

"...It was you? Not Ms. Oh?" He questions, still processing the sight before him.

"Don't resent me. I'm just following the party's orders." Man Dong states and what shocks Soo-ho even more is a tearful Young Ro who slowly approaches them while covered in blood.

"Soo-ho..." Young Ro whimpers and he quickly gets out of the car, bringing her into his arms.

The others also get out of the car, putting their hands up.

"Make it quick and come to the car." His partner tells him and begins pushing Chung-ya and Soo-hui forward after taking their weapons.

"This... This isn't my blood." She tells him, sniffing.

He pulls away, moving his hands to her arms. "What happened to Eung Cheol and Gyeok-chan?"

"He shot them and-and I got him t-to spare them. But w-we left them there! There was only ten minutes till the ship got there! I-I don't even know if they're still alive!" She cries out and Soo-ho moves the younger girl behind him, keeping a hold on her hand.

"They wouldn't have gone through this had they killed their traitor leader and blown themselves up. Like revolutionary warriors should!"

"So, you who has been living a revolutionary warrior's life... Have you been happy? Since you had to hide your identify from your son, I'm sure you couldn't be a good dad." Soo-ho says, angering the old man. "I feel...sorry for you. I pity you. If I survive this, am I going to...have to live like you?" He straightens up, standing tall. "I am not afraid of death. But... Hana is in danger. You know what is going to happen, don't you?"

Man Dong feels his resolve break and sees his partner returning, aiming his gun at Soo-ho. Man Dong pushes the best friends out of the way and shoots his partner, also getting shot at as well. Young Ro screams and hurries over to Man Dong.

"...Young...Ro... I'm s-sorry... Please...don't tell...Sang...Beom..." He pleads and takes his final breath.

Chung-ya walks over to Soo-ho who is looking at the crying Young Ro being comforted by Soo-hui.

"I'm sure that Gyeok-chan and Eung Cheol are alright. The people on the ship likely got there in time and saved them." She says, trying to reassure him.

"...Once you and my sister get to Qinqdao, you both should leave for somewhere safe."

"No!" Soo-hui yells, getting their attention. "I'm not leaving without you! I'm helping sister-in-law too!"

"I'm going to. I have to go back for them." Young Ro sides with Soo-hui while wiping away her tears.

"Girls-"

"No buts! We're going! Take care, Chung-ya!" Soo-hui yells, grabbing the younger girl's hand and they run back to the car, locking themselves in. Soo-hui looks out the window and sticks her tongue out at him.

He sighs and shakes his head as Chung-ya chuckles.

"You'll have a handful on your hands dealing with them plus Hana." She sticks her hand out and gives him a tearful smile. "My real name is Kim Eun Hye. That is who I will be living as from now on."

He gives her a small smile and accepts her hand. "I hope...you live an ordinary, happy life as Kim Eun Hye, leaving behind the lives you lived as Kang Chung-ya and Moran Hill 1."

She nods and sheds a tear. "You better survive, Lim Soo-ho."

She lets go of his hand and he watches her leave, knowing it will be the last time that he'll see her.

Back at the dorm, Hye Ryung finds her best friends sitting on the stairs, sulking.

"It hasn't even been twenty-four hours since they left and here you two are. Sulking already."

"Give me a break. I can't help that I miss my handsome bodyguard... My Soosoo!" Hana whines.

"I can't believe Young Ro went with him... What's so great about that punk? It's bad enough this one chooses him over me." Hee Tae mutters.

"What am I going to do with you two?" Hye Ryung mutters, taking a seat in-between them.

"Love us?" Hana mumbles, resting her head on Hye Ryung's shoulder.

"I do that with you every day." Hye Ryung replies, gently patting Hana's head then points at Hee Tae. "This one I tolerate."

"She tolerates Soo-ho too, Beany. Now you can try bonding with him over that." Hana giggles.

"I refuse to share anything in common with that punk!"

"But-"

Hana is cut off when they hear panicking coming from the lounge. When they go to check, they see the news of how Gyeong-hui and the SWAT team plan to break into the dorm.

"Are they really going to come inside now and kill us?!"

"Are we going to die?!"

"What do we do now?! What now?! You're the only person here who can fight with a gun! I really don't want to die here!" Gwang Tae shouts at Kang Moo.

"Shut up! None of us wants to die! Gosh... You're so useless! Depending on him to do everything when you've done nothing but complain and do stupid stuff!" Hye Ryung yells being held back by Hee Tae.

"Hana! You have connections to the ANSP, right? Can't you get them to back off or something?!" Byung Tae pleads.

"Wow if it were only that simple. We would have already been out of here a long time ago, you butthead!" Hana answers, feeling annoyed.

"Where did the spies go after making this mess?!"

"What did you just say?" Jeongmin snaps, glaring at the girl who just said that. "Have you not been listening? This was an election scheme created by the higherups! Why are you still blaming the spies when they were victims of this situation as well?!"

After they've quieted down, Kang Moo speaks up.

"Before they break in, we will get out of the dorm." He informs them then turns to Bun Ok and Sang Beom whom he recently released from the basement. "You two are coming with me to the roof and will hold up that banner. No questions. No complaints. Just do as I say. Got it?"

They flinch at his harsh voice and nod.

"The rest of us will all go to the prayer room." Seung Hee adds.

Gyeong-hui returns to the tent to find Chang-su and Aera there.

"Why are they here?" Gyeong-hui asks the agents in an annoyed tone. "Get them out! And get me the detonator."

"Looking for this?" Chang-su holds up the detonator with a smug look on his face.

"You bastard-" Gyeong-hui goes to take it but Chang-su suddenly throws it on the floor, destroying the device shocking everyone.

"You idiot. You know Hanna said on the radio we'd kill all the students. We must save them all to win the election. We must save the students."

"...The president ordered to kill them all, you bastard!" Gyeong-hui yells, punching him making Aera scream and hurry to help her husband.

"Sir!" An agent comes running in. "We spotted students up on the rooftop holding a banner mentioning an election scheme. Agent Lee was also with them. It seems that they're going to barricade themselves up there."

"...Move all forces near the shrine to the main door! And tell them to go in!"

After returning from the roof, Kang Moo takes the lead and guides the way through the basement.

"It's an emergency exit in basement two, okay?" Seung Hee tells the lined-up students as they go through the secret door in the prayer room.

"Yes, ma'am!" They all shout.

"If you two want to get out of here alive, you follow Mr. Lee's instructions and that's it. Not a single word from either of you. No causing any more trouble. Do not do anything unless he says otherwise. Do you understand?" Seung Hee speaks in a stern tone to Bun Ok and Sang Beom.

They both nod and hurry after everyone else. Seung Hee then checks on her daughter who is helping Ms. Oh.

"Hana, hurry!"

"Yes, eomma! Come on, Ms. Oh. We're almost out." Hana tells her with a soft tone.

"I'm fine, sweetheart. You go on ahead, I'll catch up." Ms. Oh smiles, gently pushing her forward.

"Are you sure?" Hana hesitates, concerned for the older woman and receives a nod in return.

But soon as Hana joins her mother's side, Ms. Oh makes a break for it after mumbling something about her son. Hana notices and chases after her with her mother, Hee Tae and the rest of the Room 207 girls following after her. Unfortunately, Ms. Oh ends up triggering one of the tripwires...

Upon hearing the explosion and wondering what happened, the door suddenly opens making Kang Moo point his gun at the culprit only to be surprised by Soo-ho.

"You brat! What are you doing here? Didn't I tell you not to come back and try to be a hero?! It's my job to save the students! How dare you not listen to me!"

"I took out all the SWAT team near here. Hanna is outside with a bus. So get them out now." Soo-ho says, ignoring Kang Moo's rant.

As the hostages make their exit, Soo-ho becomes worried as he doesn't see Hana and the others. When Soo-ho hurries to look for them, Kang Moo gestures for Hanna to go ahead and get the hostages away. She hesitates but gets onto the bus and into the driver's seat.

"Wait! Not everyone is here!" Kyung Ja yells.

"Mr. Lee will take care of them! We have to get you all out of here now!" Hanna yells back and drives away.

Soo-ho eventually finds the others helping Ms. Oh and lets out a breath of relief seeing his wife is unharmed. They all are shocked by Soo-ho's sudden return.

"Soo-ho..." Hana slowly stands up and approaches him.

"Captain! I found the target!" An agent shouts, alerting everyone.

Soo-ho quickly moves Hana to cover while the others do the same and the shooting begins. As Soo-ho is pinned down by gunfire, Kang Moo arrives to back him up. After managing to take down a few of them, Kang Moo then throws a grenade. After it blows up, they use that time to escape. Getting back to the prayer room safely, Soo-ho is approached by an emotional Hana.

"Soo-ho... Why did you come back?"

"Why?" He lets out a quiet laugh and gently cups her cheek. "How can I not come back for my Lois when she's in danger? I'm your Superman, remember?"

She lightly hits his chest and sniffles. "You cheesy man."

Kang Moo calls for them, interrupting their moment. Soo-ho grabs her hand, and they hurry after Kang Moo. While going through the basement, agents show up and Hana sees one of them taking aim at Soo-ho making her quickly take off her shoe and throw it at the agent's head, knocking him out. Soo-ho then quickly shoots at the other agents.

"That's my girl." He murmurs, moving her to cover as more of the SWAT team shows up.

"Soo-ho! I'll cover you, so get out with Hana!"

"No." Soo-ho throws a key onto the ground. "There's a black jeep near the temple. Get out with Hana now. Hurry up!"

"What?!" Hana yells with widened eyes.

"Get out with Hana, you bastard!" Kang Moo tearfully yells, roughly grabbing Soo-ho's shoulders. "Do you hear me? Do as I say, you brat. Just do as I say!"

"...Hyung. You must get them out for them to be safe." Soo-ho says, his eyes also glistening with tears. "So get out with Hana now."

Kang Moo shakes his head still refusing but more shooting at them occurs.

"...You brat." Kang Moo's voice cracks, placing his on Soo-ho's cheek before finally letting him go. "...Follow me, Hana."

"No! No, I can't!" Hana cries as Kang Moo grabs ahold of her hand but she grabs Soo-ho's hand with her free one. "Sooho-ssi!"

Soo-ho looks back when he feels Hana holding onto his hand. It's as if everything goes into slow motion... Hearing her cries, listening to her pleads and looking at her for the final time, he finally sheds tears.

"Don't let me go, Soo-ho! Don't let me go! Please!"

"...I love you, Hana." He tells her with a tearful smile.

She is finally pulled away from him and dragged towards the exit...

"SOO-HO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

We here... Two chapters left.

Sorry for the long wait. As I told you all, I'm having to use the touchscreen keyboard on my desktop. Plus I had to take a few days off because of the heat.

What do you think will happen next?

What is Tae-il planning?

I wonder if Gyeok-chan and Eung Cheol survived...

And what will happen with Soona?
