Buried Secrets

"Is that how you always solve your problems?! By killing?!" Hee Tae yells.

"I'm teaching them all a lesson for kidnapping my daughter!" Tae-il yells back.

"That's funny because right now she really doesn't see herself as your daughter right now." Hee Tae scoffs.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"Oh, Seong-sim didn't tell you?" Hee Tae nearly laughs at Tae-il's confused expression. "Hana found out she's adopted." He informs, shocking the older men and points at Gyeong-hui. "Thanks to his idiot son."

If looks could kill, Gyeong-hui would drop to the floor at that very second. He excuses himself and quickly leaves the tent.

"Hana was heartbroken when she found out the truth about her adoption! She saw herself as a tool being used by you and Seong-sim!" Tae-il looks away and lets out a frustrated sigh. "But is she wrong? To get where you are now and have control over-"

Tae-il grabs Hee Tae by his collar. "HWANG HEE TAE!"

"Tae-il, let go of him!" Chang-su tries to separate the two.

"You brat. Keep your mouth shut about the past. Those secrets have been buried." Tae-il says in a low tone.

"Yet one of those secrets have come to light and the rest could end up destroying Hana. Did you ever think about that?" Hee Tae retorts making Tae-il's grip loosen and Chang-su finally manages to separate the two.

"You both cannot be fighting right now! We need to figure out a way to negotiate with the spies and save the hostages!" Chang-su yells at them both.

"That's only if he stops messing things up and lets the spies get back home!" Hee Tae snaps before glaring at Tae-il. "If you keep this up, they'll blow themselves up with the hostages. Hye Ryung. Young Ro... And Hana. I won't forgive you if something happens to any of them."

After Hee Tae leaves the tent, Tae-il grabs one of the phones and throws it.

Being the first ones to wake up in the morning, Hana sits next to Jeongmin by one of the pillars. Every now and then, Hana glances at Soo-ho who is talking with Gyeok-chan in the kitchen.

"...Do you believe it? Do you truly believe that none of it was real?"

Hana frowns at the thought of Soo-ho's words and looks down at her lap.

"Hey, there's something I wanted to ask you." Jeongmin says, wanting to divert the young girl's attention from Soo-ho. "Have you figured out who the butterscotch fairy is yet?"

"Hmm? Isn't it one of you guys?" Hana questions, still suspecting her roommates.

Jeongmin smiles and shakes her head. "Nope... It's actually our very own hall director Ms. Pi."

Hana blinks her eyes quite a few times, taking a moment to process what she just revealed.

"Huh?!" Hana nearly shouts, shocked by the revelation.

Jeongmin nearly laughs at her reaction. "I saw her doing it a few days ago. When I had to go get my book that I had forgotten, I saw her in our room putting the candy under your pillow. I was surprised as well... She really does have such a soft spot for you."

"But-but this is Ms. Pi that we're talking about! The same one gives me stern lectures and pinches my ear!" Hana says with a look of disbelief.

"I'm pretty sure that she does it with love." Jeongmin says with a small smile. "She obviously cares about you in her own way. She acts mean but she's really nice, you said it yourself last night."

"...But why me though?" Hana murmurs, looking back at Ms. Pi with a curious expression.

Suddenly a loud noise comes from the kitchen, waking up those who were still sleeping and startling those already awake. They look to see Gyeok-chan and Soo-ho having an intense argument.

"What's happening?" Seol Hui asks as she, Hye Ryung and Young Ro wake up.

"You son a bitch. You dare to call it dying for nothing? To shoot all the hostages dead and blow up ourselves dead in a determined way is the most honorable death for us!" Gyeok-chan raises his voice at the last part.

"I'll decide if we die or not. I'm your leader." Soo-ho declares.

"You're just a soft guy from a powerful family. How dare you disrespect the revolutionary spirit? It would've gone smoothly if you hadn't come to the dorm!" Gyeok-chan yells, making Hana's eyes widened.

"Hey, Hana." The Room 207 girls look to see Bun Ok right next to them. "Do something. He's your boyfriend after all. Do something for us!"

"What could she do? We were also fooled. None of us knew he was a spy. And he's not her boyfriend anymore." Jeongmin says, defending her younger sister. "And why are you speaking as if she hasn't done anything when she's protected that cop twice already?"

"You guys didn't? Look at what you guys got us into. "I didn't know" won't cut it. The spy is her boyfriend and the rest of you are accomplices. So be quiet." Bun Ok snaps.

"You be quiet! We really thought he was a college student we met on a date. And you met us with him. Did you forget how you wanted him?" Hye Ryung asks with a smirk.

"She's right!" Seol Hui yells, backing up Hye Ryung. "You tried to take Soo-ho for yourself when he clearly was interested in Hana!"

"You joined them?" Kyung Ja asks, glaring at Bun Ok. "So, you met him the first day as well, huh? You didn't know he was a spy either and yet you have the nerve to be trying to place all the blame on Hana and her roommates?"

Bun Ok looks at everyone nervously as they all give her glares for her hypocrisy. She looks to Ms. Pi for help but only to receive a look that tells her to shut up.

"Everyone. The ANSP agent was just dragged out. We must find a way to get out alive." Ms. Pi announces.

"Byung Tae." Hye Ryung grabs her fiancé's hand. "Do something. You'll be commissioned soon. Will you just sit back? Isn't there any manual for a situation like this?"

"Actually... There's nothing in particular." Byung Tae says, disappointing everyone. "But..." He moves to sit in front of everyone. "With my great leadership and sense of duty to save your lives, let me tell you something. In 1972, there was a hostage situation during the Munich Olympics. And the West German police dealt with it in such an idiotic way, so all the hostages were killed."

Suddenly a shoe is thrown at his shoulder.

"Ow! Who threw-"

"You butthead! How are you going to tell everyone something like that?!" Hana yells at him, with that adorable glare of hers. "How did I give permission for an idiot to marry my Hye Ryung? Gwang Tae, go get my shoe!"

"Why me-"

"Allow me." Sang Beom smiles about to go get her shoe.

"Not you!" Hana shivers in disgust at the thought of Sang Beom touching her shoe.

"Gwang Tae, get her shoe right now." Hye Ryung snaps.

He quickly does as the girls say and as soon as he places the shoe in Hana's hand...

"Gwang Tae... We still got beef that we need to settle. Don't forget." She mutters to him, making him look at her with a frightened look before scrambling away.

"For now, those bastards..." Byung Tae points back at the men in the kitchen with his thumb. We should do as those bastards say if we want to stay alive."

"You idiot!" Gwang Tae tries to smack Byung Tae's head but the latter dodges it. Sang Beom manages to smack him instead.

"You little-"

Another loud noise comes from the kitchen again, making a weak Eung Cheol limp his way to his comrades.

"How will you handle the consequences of the failed mission?" Gyeok-chan questions his leader.

"I'm the leader. I'll take full responsibility." Soo-ho answers. "You did nothing wrong. I'll go back alive at all costs and take responsibility."

"Responsibility?" Gyeok-chan scoffs. "You're a coward begging for your life even after being fooled twice. How will you do that?"

Soo-ho stares at him for a moment before taking a step forward. "Comrade Joo. Don't forget the party ordered you to obey my orders."

Gyeok-chan moves away from his leader before turning back to face him. "You think the party trusts you, but you're mistaken. If I sense any change in your ideology, I can-"

He aims his gun ready to shoot but Soo-ho beats him to it when pulling out his pistol and shoots Gyeok-chan. Ignoring everyone's gasps and screams, Hana watches Soo-ho, still processing these sides of him are different from what she knew him as. Soo-ho walks over to where Gyeok-chan is lying on the floor and points his gun back at him.

"Why did you disobey my orders and follow me into Mount Ogong?" He doesn't receive and answer. "If you disobey my orders again, then..." He leans over Gyeok-chan, pressing his gun over his wound. "I won't shoot here." He then puts the gun onto his forehead. "I'll shoot here. Your life depends on me, your leader. Don't forget that... And I'm not going to ask you again. How do you know Hana?"

"Besides watching Lim Soo-ho, I'm giving one more mission. A young woman named Nam Hana and she is the daughter of Nam Tae-il... If you ever cross paths with her, kill her."

"I-"

All of a sudden, Eung Cheol collapses making everyone gasp.

"The rifle!" Byung Tae yells, pointing at the gun.

Ms. Pi is about to go for the gun but Ms. Oh beats her to it, pushing her out of the way. She picks it up, pointing it at Soo-ho who runs towards them. He also points his gun at her, resulting in a standoff. They both have their fingers over the triggers, ready to shoot.

"...Bang!" Ms. Oh laughs, acting as if she would shoot him. "Bang!" She repeatedly continues to do this as she starts pointing the gun at everyone else.

When her back is turned, Soo-ho goes up to her and snatches the gun from her. Man Dong goes over to her and puts his jacket around her shoulders.

"She's not herself right now." Man Dong informs him.

"That rifle is so heavy." Ms. Oh mutters.

Soo-ho just stares at them with an annoyed look until he puts his attention back on Eung Cheol and ends up seeing Hana tending to him.

"Oh my goodness...." Hana gently wipes the sweat from Eung Cheol's face. "Didn't I tell you to rest? And did you even eat the butterscotch?"

"That little..." Hye Ryung mutters, closing her eyes and rubbing her forehead. "Why does she have to be so kind to everyone?"

"Well, not Sang Beom." Seol Hui replies with a look of disgust of her face. "She hates him, remember?"

"We all do." Jeongmin mutters.

"Lim Soo-ho?" Chang-su asks after picking up the ringing phone.

"We have injured people. Send a doctor in."

"Okay. But how about you release some of them in return? You have too many hostages for the three of you anyway."

"Send a doctor in ten minutes."

"We need more time. We'll find a doctor as soon as possible, so release some them first." Chang-su

"You have twenty minutes. If a doctor doesn't come here by 9: 44, I'll execute one hostage every ten minutes."

Chang-su hangs up and looks at the agents. "Hey, find me a doctor right away. We only got twenty minutes."

"Twenty minutes? Even our agency doctor can't get here in twenty minutes." One of the agents responds.

"Send me in." Hee Tae volunteers, only to get rejected by Tae-il.

"Do you honestly think Hana would forgive me if I sent you in there to get killed?" Tae-il gives the young man an annoyed look while walking over to the phone.

"Do you think she'll forgive you if something happens to her friends in the dorm?" Hee Tae retorts.

"I'll handle it." Tae-il ignores Hee Tae as he dials a number.

"...Isn't this kinda like the first time we met?" Gyeok-chan asks Hana as she tries to tend to his wound in the sick room where Eung Cheol is resting right next to them.

"Don't." She mutters. "Why are you guys picking fights and forcing me to take care of you? Darn, this isn't working. Take off your shirt."

"...I don't think that's a good idea." He murmurs, looking away.

"Take it off." Hana orders him with her adorable glare.

"But-"

"Strip!" She stomps her foot and he gives her an amused look. "That is not what I meant! Just let me take care of your wound already!"

"...Look away first."

She covers her eyes and turns around; he almost laughs at her adorable antics. He takes off his shirt and removes his necklace, putting the latter in his pocket. He lets her know that he is ready and she turns back around, trying not to look at his shirtless torso. She goes back to tending to his wound, ignoring his stare on her.

"...Hana. I know that you don't trust me, but I want you to know why I approached you. I wanted to repay a debt from a long time ago. To someone who saved my life."

She stops what she's doing and looks up at him with a confused expression.

"How is me putting a band aid on your hand and lending you my umbrella saving your life?"

"That's not what I'm talking about... You won't understand now but maybe someday you will." He answers before looking away.

Flashback

A man crouches down to a young Gyeok-chan's level and places his hand on his shoulder.

"You have to survive. Don't let my efforts gone to waste, little warrior."

End of Flashback

So... I might have started working on my next possible kdrama book. And it's looking like it will focus on Business Proposal. I got a list of people that I'm blaming for this. I don't have a date set if it does happen because it's still early in the works.

I was planning to wrap up this episode in this chapter but it's going to be too long. It should be done by the next chapter or two.

Not my best chapter. It went differently from how I planned. A lot of the big stuff I'm saving for the next couple episodes.

Ooh, just what did Tae-il do? What are all these secrets that the older people are hiding? And how did Hee Tae find out about them?

Turns out that Ms. Pi was the one leaving those candies under Hana's pillow! Weren't expecting that were you?

Gyeok-chan has orders to kill Hana, huh? Why though? And what does he mean that he's repaying a debt? And why did he want to hide his necklace from her? Hmm... And we got a tiny flashback!
