Another Date and More To Come

"Jeongmin unnie, you should have seen them! It was like love at first sight!" Young Ro squeals.

"He could barely keep his eyes off of her. And you should have seen how happy he was when Hanny chose up his paper airplane." Seol Hui adds, jumping up and down excitedly.

"You two even hugged?" Young Ro asks Hana in an excited tone.

She nods. "Yep, but that was to get the cops off his back. He told me that he's a protester so you and him might get along, Minnie!"

"Well, I can't wait to meet him." Jeongmin replies with a smile.

"He even called your name pretty?" Seol Hui asks, joining Hana on her bed.

She blushes and nods again. "Then we went to go see a movie and had dinner. We talked a lot about our interests. He works out a lot. He likes paper airplanes like Roro and I do. Oh, and he's graduate student in economics but he also likes to make music."

"Ooh, maybe he will write a song for you!" Jeongmin teases and the other two squeal.

"Oh, I think Bun Ok unnie is mad at me. When I got back last night, she wouldn't accept my butterscotch." Hana says pouting.

"Don't worry about it, Hanny. Her date just might not have gone well or something." Young Ro reassures her, knowing full well what Bun Ok is mad about.

Noticing Hye Ryung not making a mean comment about Bun Ok, Seol Hui speaks up.

"Hye Ryung unnie has quiet ever since after talking about Hana's date last night." Seol Hui says.

"Teddy, are you alright? Do you want a butterscotch?" Hana asks.

No response.

"Unnie? Is something wrong?" Young Ro asks.

No response.

"Hana, why are you trying to climb out the window?!" Jeongmin yells.

"WHAT?!" Hye Ryung stands up from her bed and looks to the window, only to find Hana sitting on her bed. She then glares at Jeongmin. "Yah! Are you crazy, you wench?!"

"Got a response out of you though." Jeongmin says, smirking. "Almost thought you were broken or something."

"I'm clearly trying to figure out why he hasn't called yet!" Hye Ryung snaps. "They hugged. He called her name pretty. He took her to a movie and dinner. He took a cab back here with her. He asked her if they could go on another date, and she agreed to it. She even made sure to give him the room number. And most importantly, he listened to me in making sure that she didn't eat too much candy!"

"Yeah... Even though he accepted the ones that I gave him, he confiscated the rest after I ate three. I almost ended the date because of that." Hana explains, pouting. An amused Young Ro gently pats the top of Hana's head.

"So why hasn't he called for her yet?!"

"Because he might have just woken up like we did, or he may still be sleeping." Jeongmin replies in a sarcastic tone.

"Room 207." Bun Ok voices through the speakers. "Nam Hana."

Everyone in the room falls silent and they all look at one another.

"Could it be...?" Young Ro, the first one to speak up.

Hye Ryung grabs Hana's hand and runs out of their room with the others behind them. On their way to the telephone area, they see Kyung Ja and the other hall monitors.

"Make an exception this time! Hana's future husband is on the possibly on the phone!" Hye Ryung yells.

"We don't even know if it's him! And are you trying to broadcast it to everyone?!"

"...Hana has a boyfriend?!" Kyung Ja asks the other hall monitors whose mouths are wide open.

Once the group finally makes it there, Hye Ryung snatches the phone from Bun Ok and gives it to Hana.

"Answer it! Is it him?!"

"Hold on!" Hana puts the phone to her ear. "Umm, hello?"

"Hana? It's me, Soo-ho. I was wondering if we could meet today."

"Really?! Oh wait, I have a meeting with my parents this morning, but we can meet after. How about at Rome Coffee Shop at twelve?" She asks him, hearing her roommates squealing behind her.

"Yes. I'll see you then."

"Okay." She giggles. "See you later!"

"It's a date?" Young Ro asks as Hana gives the phone back to Bun Ok.

Hana shyly smiles and nods making her friends squeal again. She then notices Hye Ryung and Seol Hui missing. "Where did the others go?"

"As soon as they heard the time of your date, they hurried back to the room to pick out your outfit." Jeongmin answers. "Come on, let's go get you ready."

"Oh wait!" Hana turns to Bun Ok and puts a few pieces of butterscotch in front of her. "I hope you're feeling better, unnie."

After Hana leaves with Jeongmin, Bun Ok snatches up the candy and is about to throw it away until she hears Young Ro call out to her.

"Unnie."

She sighs, rolling her eyes and decides to put the candy back where it was. Young Ro gives her a small smile and hurries to join her friends.

"Stop fidgeting! Here, eat this." Hye Ryung says and feeds Hana a butterscotch. "And...done!"

"You look so cute, Hanny! Soo-ho will like you even more now!" Seol Hui gushes over Hana's appearance.

"Hey, do you guys think I could fake being sick, so I won't have to go to my parents' house, and I just wait for my date?" She becomes confused by her friends shocked expressions. "What?"

"Don't even think about it."

Hana is startled hearing Ms. Pi's voice, and her ear is suddenly grabbed.

"Ow! Ow! Ma'am, please! Not the ear!" Hana whines.

"The car is here. Now let's get going." Ms. Pi demands while pulling Hana out of the room by her ear.

"Good luck, Hanny! We'll see you when you get back! And don't swallow your butterscotch by accident!" Young Ro shouts. "We love you!

"Love you too!" Hana shouts back.

"Hanny's poor ear. Does Ms. Pi have to be so evil?" Seol Hui mumbles.

"...Are her parents really that bad?" Jeongmin asks, noticing Hye Ryung's worried expression.

As soon as Hana walks into the living room of her parents' home, she is greeted by her mother.

"Sweetie, you're here!" Seong-sim hugs her daughter and brings her over to the couch. "Come sit next to me. Your father should be here shortly."

"Hello, eomma." Hana greets her mother in a forced happy tone.

"How are things at the dorm? Are you still friends with that brat? What about school?"

"Everything is fine, my roommates and I have gotten very close. Her name is Hye Ryung, and you know she takes such good care of me. My classes and going well and my grades are good."

"Good... That guy went on a date with, you won't be seeing him again, will you?"

"...Why?" Hana asks her mother with a suspicious look.

"Because...your father is looking to set you up with the president's son!" She squeals. "And don't worry, your father doesn't know about your date that you went on yesterday."

"...W-what? No, eomma!" Hana shakes her head.

"Sweetie, the fortune teller told me that you would soon be meeting the man that you're destined to be with. And the fact that the president is looking for someone to match his son up with-"

"Jun Pyo is nothing but a playboy! Do you really want me to get married to someone like that? What about wanting me to be happy?" Hana asks her mother with a look of disbelief.

"Of course, I want you to be happy! You've always been such a sweet girl; you can change Jun Pyo-" Seong-sim says, placing her hand over her daughter's hand.

"Why does changing him have to be my responsibility?"

"Hana, think about what this match would bring our family. The promotions that your father could get! And if you started to go to events with us, it can get you many opportunities to meet with directors-"

"Eomma!" Hana yells and gets up from the couch, startling her mother. "Why can you never respect my decisions?! I want to be able to build my own career and make my own connections without using my family's name! And I want to choose a guy of my own choosing not someone that you or Appa choose for me!"

"Sweetie, I'm only thinking about your future!" Seong-sim also stands up, defending herself.

"No, you're thinking about yours and Appa's future. Not mine."

"Fine... What's his name? What family does he come from? When do I get to meet him?"

"Those are the questions you ask?" Hana sighs as her eyes glisten with tears. "Can't you just ask how the date went? What he's like? And...if I was happy?"

Seong-sim becomes silent and looks away from her daughter.

"Eomma... Can't you just be happy for me? Let me live the life that I want." Hana says before wiping away her tears. "I hoped we could have a nice family day since we haven't had one in so long, but I can't stay any longer."

"Wait, Hana-"

"I'll be continuing to see the guy that I went on a date with. Don't even think about having someone tail me or have Ms. Pi question me. I won't forgive you if you do." Hana says, walking away before nearly bumping into her father.

"Hana! Oh, my precious daughter, how happy I am to see you!" He chuckles.

Tae-il gives his daughter a big smile before giving her a hug. When he realizes that she's not hugging back, he pulls away giving his daughter a concerning look.

"What's wrong? You look upset... Have you been crying?"

"Appa... Did you really have to go behind my back like that? Why couldn't you just ask me what I wanted?" Hana asks before getting out of her father's grip and leaving.

"Hana!" He yells for his daughter, but she ignores his calls. He then turns to his wife with an accusing look. "Yah! What did you tell her?!"

Hana, having already arrived at Rome Coffee Shop, sits at the same table from the blind date. Soo-ho eventually arrives and sees her making a matchstick tower just as he did yesterday.

"Darn!" She pouts and sniffles.

"I'm sure you will get it next time." He says, taking a seat in front of her.

"You're here!" Her eyes twinkle by the sight of him.

He gives her that contagious smile from seeing her excitement until it changes into a look of concern.

"Hana... Have you been crying?"

"Huh? No! My... My eyes always get puffy from blinking too much!" She lies even though she hates lying.

He sighs and reaches over the table to wipe away a tear rolling down her cheek.

"I won't force you to tell me what happened if you don't want to talk about it."

"...My parents have been planning on setting me up with someone of a higher status to help give my father a bigger promotion. Eomma even thinks that it will give me bigger opportunities since I want to be an actress. But I don't want any of that. I just want to earn things by using my own abilities not with my family's name. And I want to be with someone who will make me happy. I won't care about his status. As long as we can make each other smile and laugh. We give each other nicknames. He would protect me from Hye Ryung and Ms. Pi. We feed each our favorite foods. We have fun on dates and take turns paying. I take care of his wounds if he ever got into a fight and demand to know who hurt him... Also, as long as we can support each other's dreams and love each other very much then...that's all I need." Hana tells him, trying to hold back her tears.

"...Wait here."

"Huh?" She blinks her eyes repeatedly then blushes.

He goes to talk with the staff and then heads over to the little stage area. He sits on the stool, picking up the guitar and begins playing.

What I want, you've got

The candle feeds the flame

Yeah, yeah, what I've got, full stock

Of thoughts and dreams that scatter

And you pull them all together

And a-how, I can't explain

In shock from how beautiful his singing is, she eventually snaps out of her trance and gives him a sweet smile.

Oh yeah, well, well you

You make a-my dreams come true

You, you, ooh ooh ooh, you

Well, well, well you

Oh yeah, a-you make a-my dreams come true

You, you, you, ooh ooh ooh, you

Well yeah

-You Make My Dreams by Hall & Oates

A while later after finishing his performance, he doesn't pay much mind to the clapping audience and only focuses on one girl who he gives a gives sweet smile to. After getting up and putting the guitar back in its place, he returns to his seat.

"...Thank you, Soosoo." She says with a big smile.

"Soosoo?" He asks with an amused expression.

"It's your nickname! You can't refuse it!" She giggles and gives him a butterscotch. "Now let's order something and it's my turn to pay!"

Hana and Soo-ho arrive at the dorm and stop once they are at the gate.

"Hey, umm... Do you think we could go out again sometime?" She shyly asks and he nods. "Yes! How about we go to karaoke with my friends? Minnie hasn't gotten to meet you yet and I could sing for you next time!"

"I look forward to it." He chuckles. "And here you go." He gives her back her bag of candy.

"Oh, I almost forgot... You meanie, how can you confiscate my butterscotch so easily when I share them with you?" She asks, pouting.

"Too much candy is bad for you." He replies, gently bopping her nose. "...And I rather not suffer your friend's wrath."

"Well... She does get kinda scary sometimes. Oops! Don't tell her I said that!" She begs with pleading eyes.

"My lips are sealed." He promises with a smile. "You should go inside now; I'll call you tomorrow."

"Okay... See you next time."

Just as she is about to take her leave, she stops to face him and muster up the courage to kiss him on the cheek, surprising him. Her whole face begins to turn red, and she runs towards the dorm. He continues standing there stunned, until a big grin slowly appears on his face. Despite the fact that he wanted to spend more time with her, that kiss was enough for him until he could see her again. After entering the dorm and about to head upstairs, Ms. Pi calls for her.

"Hana, I've heard that you are dating. Are you happy?"

Hana sighs. "My mother called you, didn't she?"

"She did but said nothing about you dating. She was more worried about you after you stormed out of the house... The girls in the dorm are talking about it."

"Darn, who spilled?!" Hana says pouting.

"...Are you though? Happy?" Hana nods as a response. "Then that's all that matters." She says, surprising Hana and leaving.

Hana watches Ms. Pi as she goes and jumps when she feels an arm wrap around her shoulders. She looks to see it being Hye Ryung.

"Hmm, I thought you would have come back here looking all sad and everything but instead I see you come in with the biggest smile ever on your face. Does a certain guy have anything to do with it?" Hye Ryung teases.

"Hye Ryung!" Hana whines.

"Hmm, I guess you don't need the fried chicken that we got or the butterscotch cookies that Ms. Oh made to make you feel better then."

"Huh?! Gimmie!" Hana leaves behind a laughing Hye Ryung and hurries to their room.

After some time, Soo-ho has gotten closer to Hana and her best friends. He's becoming best friends with Young Ro and Jeongmin...

"Young Ro. I got your message." He says, holding up her paper airplane.

"You found it?! Wow!" She says with an astonished look.

"Actually, it nearly hit my face." He chuckles at her now embarrassed look. "And yes, you can help me set up my next date with Hana."

"Yes!" She jumps up and down excitedly. "Oh wait! Here, have some rice cakes!"

"Soo-ho, we're meeting up tomorrow at the bookstore. Don't be late." Jeongmin says to him a stern tone.

"I know, Jeongmin. I won't forget." He replies with a smile.

Like an older brother to Seol Hui...

"Yah, Seol Hui. Don't ever go out with a guy like that again. Find someone who will treat you with respect and love you right."

"...Thank you, oppa." She wipes away her tears to give him a smile.

As for Hye Ryung? She's pretty much become captain of the ship.

"Teddy, what are you doing?" Hana asks as she rubs the sleep from her eyes.

"Working on wedding planning."

"Really?! Let me see!" She looks over Hye Ryung's shoulder and frowns by what she sees. "Hey... Why is that mine and Soosoo's wedding? Shouldn't you be working on Byung Tae and your's wedding?"

"Yours is more important because you finally got a boyfriend."

And he continues to fall more for Hana. Now after a few dates, they are the amusement park. Soo-ho smiles at an excited Hana who wins the dunk tank challenge.

"Soosoo, I won you this!" She giggles running over to him and giving him a dove plushie. "It's just like your necklace."

"Thank you very much." He accepts the gift with a smile.

She gasps very dramatically, points at a shooting gallery. "Soosoo! It's a Bambi!"

"Do you want it?" He asks after laughing at her dramatics and she frantically nods her head. "Okay, don't hurt yourself nodding your head like that. I'll get it only if I can get something in return."

"Deal!" She squeals, jumping up and down.

He goes over to play the game and picks up the gun. He holds it with one hand and takes a breath before successfully shooting each target. She stares at him in awe as he returns to her with the Bambi plushie.

Oh my goodness, he looked so attractive...

"Well, thank you for the compliment, Bambi. You look very pretty yourself." He says, smirking and gives him the gift.

"Uh... Did I say that out loud?!" He laughs at her embarrassed look, and he nods. "Forget I said that!"

He continues smirking. "I don't want to."

"Darn! I need to get him Roro's special coffee!" She mumbles. "Wait, why did you call Bambi pretty and not me?" She asks with a pout.

"I called you Bambi not the plush toy." He explains and gently bops her nose.

"...You finally gave me a nickname... Soosoo, you're the best!" She squeals, giving him a hug. "Oh wait! You got me two things! Now I have to give you something really good."

"...I have an idea." He says, hugging her back tightly.

"Tell me!"

"...Can I have a kiss?"

Hana pulls back from the hug and blinks her eyes repeatedly which he always finds adorable.

"...Huh? A kiss?"

He nods. "But you don't have to if you don't want to. I can wait." He says, gently caressing her cheek with his thumb.

Hana stares at him for a moment until giving him her answer... His eyes almost widened for a second but soon leans in, giving her a gentle kiss.

A few months later...

Young Ro goes inside their room and turns on the lights. She soon notices the lamp on the table knocked over. She slowly walks over to go to pick it up but ends up gasping and dropping her books when she finds an unconscious and bleeding Soo-ho right by it...

And that's the end of episode one!

I know that it's early, but I was really trying to come up with an idea of how Soo-ho could cheer Hana up after her fight with her mom. So, I thought him singing for girl would be the perfect idea. What did you think? Did I choose the right song? I had a hard time trying to find the right one.

How did I handle the fight between Hana and her mom? There's an idea that I have and was trying to decide when to reveal it, but I ultimately decide on waiting until after the timeskip. It'll be very emotional for Hana, and I felt it would make more sense to reveal it around the time things start to go down. I was really struggling on whether or not she should be close to her parents because you've seen the show, you know how they are. And I didn't make Hana too out of character, did I?

I chose to have the first kiss already before the timeskip. Now I did consider on waiting till the attic but since they've been dating for six months, I didn't want to drag it out. So why not? How do you feel about their relationship so far and his growing friendships with the others?

What did you think of Hana and Ms. Pi's moment? Even Ms. Pi sometimes has a soft spot for our girl.

Instead of Hana finding Soo-ho, it's Young Ro. You're going to understand why I decided to keep it the same way as the show once we get to the next chapter! And a little teaser for next chapter? Hana vs ANSP!
