His body stiffened as he stood front of his room. His heart wasn't ready to face his wife who has locked herself in the room since he revealed the news of him returning back to military.

He could hear faint sobs from other side. He knocked on the door and sighs when he didn't get any response.

He leans his body against the door and softly calls her name out.

Neil : love. Please open the door. Please open it. I know you can listen to me. Please open it.

His own voice crackled up. His tears starts building up. He felt his heart drenching with pain. His whole existence and heart shattered as he heard her whimpering inside the room.

Neil : love. Please stop crying. Open the door.

He banged the door softly not scarring her either way. He stops banging when he felt her presence getting close to the door. His heart calmed as the door got unlocked.

He gently pushed the door and enters only to get shattered seeing how she was crouched by bed with her head rested on her lap and tightly hugging herself.

He closed the door behind him and with small steps he starts walking towards her.

He crouched down on his knee and placed his hand on her head calling her softly.

Neil : love.

His voice choked up as he spoke. His heart bleeds seeing her this condition. Her head tilts up starting into hie eyes.

He wipes the tears with his thumb and kissed het forehead. He then cups her face wiping the tears that rolled down.

Neil : please don't cry.. it's difficult for me to hold my own tears. I can't see you like this. Love, we had discussed over this. We just didn't expected this this soon. Love, if you keep crying then how will leave I knowing your condition. Please for me stop crying.

Her tears won't stop flowing, her eyes glaze with tears as he stares into her eyes with so much love. Her heart wasn't ready for their separation. Her heart broke every seconds she thinks living without him.

He pulls her in a hug and drops kisses on her hair. He rubs her back gently. His hands gripped around her waist.

She tightens the hug and cried hugging him so tightly. His warmth and his were peace and comfort to her. She was going to miss him so badly.

Neil didn't broke the hug and tightness the hug and kissed her hair softly. His ears touching her ears as he whispered sweets words to her.

Holding her in his arms, he gradually stood up and laid on bed pulling her in his arms. He tilts her head side away looking at her face. He wipes the tears kissing both of the cheeks.

He shook his head removing the hair from her face that were blocking his view. He gazed at her trying to convey his own feelings and thoughts through his eyes.

Neil sighs and trails out his thoughts that were killing him inside.

Neil : love! I know it will be hardest phase coming towards over lives. Before marrying you, you already knew how my life is and was going to be like. I have no control in this love. All I control is my emotions love. I can't let my emotions fail me love. I can't fall weak love. I have duties and responsibilities made to our country and the people who depends on us. I know love, it will not be difficult journey but I also know we will fight through this. You need to be strong love and be strength of mine not weakness. I know my wife isn't weak. I know you love. You're the strongest and bravest person I ever met. Love. I need your support with me. I can fight whole world when you're with me.

Her eyes softened as she heard him pouring his heart out. All of sudden a guilt kicks in being so selfish, she snuggles to his chest placing her head on his chest and playing with his hand that were interlocked.

Avni : did I just become selfish?

Neil : no love! You didn't become selfish love. You can never be selfish love. I know you. It was so sudden and you didn't knew how to react. Love I don't blame you, I would have done the same. Love, we promised to stick with each other against all odds love. I need you to promise me, that you will be happy and take care of yourself. You won't neglect your health in my abscess. I don't want you falling ill love. You won't be careless. You will look after yourself. Promise me.

He withdrew his hand back and forwards to her looking into her eyes. She glanced him placing her hand in his promising him. Neil pecks her forehead and smiles lightly.

Neil : I will be in touch with you much as I can. I can't promise or guarantee that will happen love. My heart and dedication will be there always. My family comes last love. Our country is my first priority when I am wearing the uniform love. I need you to be my pillar and support system to protect our family in my absence. Will you do that love for me?

Her eyes filled with fresh tears. Her mouth wobbled as she tried to speak but no words came out of it. It was so difficult to speak out. Her whole body stiffen in his arms. Her heart starts pounding loudly. Her mind was able to take all this. Her thoughts wandered off how will she do all this without him being behind her in every step.

Looking into his eyes, she promised to protect their family and be his strength. She was ready to be his strength.

Neil caressed her cheek and shook his head as he noticed her eyes that were filled with tears. He couldn't see her tears. He can't see her cry.

He pecks her head and pulls in her chest cuddling her tightly. He never wanted to let her go for mere seconds. His heart sank the thoughts of leaving her behind.

There is certainly things we don't have control of. His own tears betrayed him. A tear escaped down and fall on her shoulder alerting her. She broke the hug making a space between as she watched his eyes filled with tears.

Now her heart bleeds seeing his tears. Her thumbs brushed against his eyes wiping the tears off. Her heart cried over the pain that were going through.

Her voice shutters as she spoke wiping her own tears and his.

Avni : please.. don't cry.

His tears fell not being able to hold anymore. They cried hugging each other as they thought new journey of theirs.

Neil brushed her hair as he untangles himself from her hold. He bends down kissing her cheek they were dried due to tears. They truly loved each other beyond their own imaginations.

Neil caressed her cheek and placing one kiss gets down bed moving to washroom.

He stood front of the mirror and turning the tap on, he splashed cold water over his face. He did it few times making himself feel better.

He pulls the towel wiping his face.

He comes out of washroom and glanced towards bed and frowned when he found it empty. He throw the towel and rushed outside of the yelling her name.

He got worried not seeing her in the room. His heart calmed and felt a peace he spotted her sitting in living room with his parents with a small smile playing on her lips.

He knew behind the smile there was hidden pain. He could see the pain behind her smile. His heart clenched up on thought of he wasn't able to remove the pain of hers.

He felt helpless watching her faking the smile that wasn't her thing. His eyes met hers before it looked away.

His heart shattered as he watched her avoiding his presence as he got closer to them sitting opposite Bebe.

Neil took a deep breath and focused his all attention hers who avoided looking  at him.

He looked at his father who asked him a question.

Neil : yes dad. You said something?

Prakash : what time will you be leaving?

Neil painful looks at Avni whose eyes met for mere seconds before she looked away.  His heart felt a pang of pain rushing down.

Neil : at midnight dad. My mates will be picking me up.

Prakash : have spoken to Nandini?

Neil : no dad! Please don't stress her out. She is pregnant. I don't really wanna stress her out.

Prakash nodded his head and thought how an hour ago they all were happy and now all sudden sadness roamed in their house.

He grabs her hand as she began packing his stuff. He turns her around and cups her face looking at her.

Neil : love! Please don't make it difficult for me. I can't leave when you're ignoring me like I don't exist. What will happen when I di....

He wasn't able to complete his sentence as she puts her hand on his mouth from blurting something she never wants to think about. How can she listen to him saying about his death so easily.

Avni: please... don't complete it. How can you think like that Neil? How will live if anything happens to you? No! I can't even even think anything happening to you.

Neil : then don't ignore me love. It's hurting. You're ignoring me like I don't exist in your life. I can't see you ignoring me.

Avni : I wasn't ignoring you Neil.. I just don't know what is happening. I can't think straight Neil. My heart and mind is playing up. My heart isn't ready to let you go but my brain is pushing you away. I just don't know what I am doing right now. Never I thought i would regret on something. I regret making myself strong because I ain't strong person.
I just can't let you go. I can't. I am just being too selfish. I don't care what you call me. I am too selfish too let you go Neil.. please don't go. Please.

Her pleaded echoed in his ears and his heart broke into zillions pieces as he watched her being so helpless and broken at the same time.

He didn't understand how and where to began. It was getting out of his control now. He either can't control his feelings or hers. The both were he was stuck. He couldn't turn his head away from the duty or break his promises to his wife who he promised to stay till forever.

He cups her face wiping her tears away.

Neil : love... I...

His own words got stuck into his throat. His eyes filled with tears. His heart sank with so much pain as he pulled in her in his embrace. He caressed her back softly.

He drops numerous of kisses on her hair. His grips tightened around her waist as he hugged her tightly and cried softly over the situation and circumstance. 

His hand played with her hair as he stares her who looked lost in her thoughts. He shook her shoulder gaining her attention.

Neil : they might be waiting for us. We should head down.

She snuggles to his chest not letting him go making him sigh deeply.

An half hour after so much effort if convincing her, they walked down the stairs and watched their family sitting in living hall and chatting away.

Swetha noticed them and calls them to sit.

Swetha : I will set the table.

Swetha walks to kitchen to set the table up while Neil sat to next Prakash and looks at his wife who stood behind him.

He didn't a single word and let her do what makes her happy.

Neil begged his mother to feed more as his stomach couldn't take it anyone.

He glances at his wife who sneakily went to back to their room. He sighs getting up following her to the room.

He pushed the door and found her staring their wedding picture. His lips curves into a smile hit faded away as he heard her sobbed.

He starts walking behind her and placing a hand on her shoulder turns her body. He hadn't got any energy to watch her tears.

He did what was best for them. He bends down smashing his lips against her soft ones kissing her hell out. He poured all his love into the kiss. His hands went to back of her hair as he pulled more into the kiss.

He broke the kiss and rested his head against her wiping her tears away with his thumb.

Neil : I love you so much. I love you.

He softly whispered.

Avni : I love you too Neil.

Her voice chocked up as she confessed her love to him. Neil pecks her forehead and looks at the time.

It was time for him to leave the family behind and start new phase of his career.

Neil cupping her face kissed her softly for the last time. Tears made out of their eyes as they kissed each other.

Neil broke the kiss and whispering 'I love you' for the last time moves away and went to washroom to change.

Neil hugs his mates as they met up. His mates who picked him up puts his luggage in the car and looks at Neil who was hugging his family and bidding them a final goodbye.

Neil hugs his parents first then Bebe. He took their blessing and moves to his wife who had her head down controlling not burst in tears.

His arms wrapped around her body. A sobs broke out as she hugged him back. He tightens the hug and closed his eyes feeling her warmth for the last time.

He broke the hug and cupping her face kissed her forehead.

Neil : take care of yourself. Don't neglect your health.

In tears she nodded her head and looks at him who moves to the car waving at them.

A tear rolled down her eyes as she watched the car moving away out of her sight. 

Avni : I will miss you Neil..

She whispered quietly as the car was out of her sight.
