Naruto jerked in surprise at the statement and she was picked up by the woman who said they would protect her. Konan carried her to a room and laid her on the bed. "I'll dirty the bed." Naruto said weakly but the woman just laughed and shook her head when she heard it as she went to get the tub filled with warm water. "Don't worry about it." Konan said as she started stripping Naruto to get the child cleaned and bandaged. Konan gasped when she noticed the blood soaked bandages and another set of bandages over the small kid's chest. "You're a girl?"
Naruto nodded, embarrassed. Konan smiled at the girl that was slowly changing. Her hair has streaks of red that are running through the blond and was growing longer. It wasn't blood as Konan could see it slowly moving towards the tips of the hair. Her face was also changing to a more feminine face and two teeth elongating slightly into small fangs that can be hidden if she shut her mouth. "Its okay to be a girl."
"No, not that. No one has seen me as a girl. No one figured it out, only Itachi noticed and he had noticed it instantly despite me acting as boyish as I could." Naruto explained, still weak but the colour was back to her face slightly from the merging almost near completion, as Konan lowered her into the bath and gently washed her body to rid her of dirt and blood. "So... you and Itachi know each other well?" Konan asked as she scrubbed cautiously, trying to avoid agitating any wounds.
"We are friends, best friends even."
"Are?"
"I still kept in contact with him even when he went rogue." Naruto said quietly.
"Are you sure you guys are just friends?" Konan asked, wriggling her eyebrows suggestively. Naruto's bluish-red eyes stared at her with so much innocence and confusion, Konan think she just melted. The innocence was so cute!!! Itachi better not ruin the innocence! Konan thought to herself. "What do you mean?" Naruto asked, ever the naive one. Konan signed and shook her head. "Never mind, you'll get what I mean once you get older."
"I'm 15."
"You've gotta be even older than that, sister." Naruto jerked and looked down at the soapy water suddenly, making Konan frown. Konan paused in her cleaning and looked at her.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
"You called me sister..." Naruto whispered hoarsely and that was when Konan realised she was tearing up.
"What's wrong with calling you sister?" Naruto kept quiet as Konan waited patiently for her to answer whilst continuing with her task. She picked Naruto up and dried her off before she slipped on a clean new underwear for the child and binded her wounds. "A bra feels so weird." Naruto said prodding at her own boob. "You got a chest injury and it's difficult to bind both your chest and your wound without having to change all the bandages later. You'll get use to it. It's a sport bra, nice and supportive and comfortable."
"My hair is growing longer isn't it?" Naruto asked as she stiffened. Konan nodded and went to retrieve a mirror.
"Your eyes and hair changed colour slightly, and you have fangs. Your face changed too, it's sharper and more feminine now. "Konan listed as she passed the mirror. Konan expected her to be looking at her cool new features but she was looking at her bruises. A big bruise had blossomed on her cheek, swelling it up and blocking her left vision slightly and there was a big gash above her right eyebrow. There was scrapes here and there but nothing too serious that could disfigure her.
"Do you have a kunai?"
"What? You're going to cut it? No! Come!" Konan exclaimed as she bustled over and started combing it before tying it up into a french braid. Her hair was now to her butt so the hair growth had been pretty rapid and the streaks of red signified that the demon chakra is running through her now as do the red mixing with the striking blue in her eyes, giving it a purple-ly shade in some places.
"I look like an absolute freak." Naruto whispered as she looked at herself and threw the mirror onto the bed, covering her face. Konan pulled away the hands and pulled her into an embrace. "You look so beautiful, sis." Konan felt her stiff in her embrace at the name. "Why? Do you not like being called sister?"
"... I... No one likes me, they all treated me like trash. I was an annoyance, I actually made a friend but I lost him to save another friend."
"Save another- You're talking about Itachi, you said you failed to free Itachi." Konan said in realisation and felt the girl nod.
"Let's talk later, right now, let's get you dressed and get some food in you. Since when have you last eaten? You're as thin as a stick." Konan joked, but immediately her face fell when she turned around and noticed Naruto's expression.
"I haven't eaten since last month. I didn't have enough money to buy food, they were always overpriced and I had to pay rent."
"How are you still alive?!" Konan asked, mortified at the statement. How can someone not eat for a whole month?!
"Chakra, the kyuubi has been feeding me its chakra, that's why my body didn't burn from inside out from the sudden merge. If I hadn't been fed the chakra, my chakra coils would have burnt from the demonic chakra - Kurama wouldn't have gone through with the decision to merge with me if he knows my chakra coils would burn." Konan forced a smile onto her face as she helped Naruto into the smallest black pants she could find and a shirt that she had to tie up to make sure it doesn't fall off. Konan then found a cloak with a hood and made Naruto fasten it herself as Konan excused herself, telling Naruto to wait for a moment.
The members all pressed themselves against the wall as she stormed past angrily. She wrenched the front door open and slammed it shut. Then they heard a loud explosion and her screaming in anger. "What made her so pissed off?" Hidan asked in confusion.
