Chapter 4

Michael had someone pick us up at the airport and I had an idea why. The girls had gotten their first glimpse of California--the fresh smelling breeze in the sky and the large palm trees. Every second in the car was a new experience, and I couldn't help but just watch every reaction and comment. We reached Neverland and the doors opened to us. The driver drove us to the main house. The girls could see the lake and the Neverland Gardens, train station--pretty much a quick preview of everything. I took the two girls hand in hand with luggage and I could see Michael at the front door, holding Chrissi, who was just sucking her little thumb.

Finally the moment of truth! Michael handed me Chrissi and got down on his kness.
" Well Hello," he said in his soft, generous voice, " Are you Grace?"
" Yes." she nodded, in complete awe. She couldn't focus on one thing--everything was so big.
" What's your name, sweetie?" Michael picked up Mae since she was a bit bashful. He brushed her hair out of her face and have her the widest smile.
" Mae." she replied, with a smile and a little giggle. " Are you excited that you're gonna live here?" They both nodded.
" Well you two just got here so why don't we.....take a tour???"
The girls were clapping and cheering. " Let's go hop in the golf cart, girls!" The girls ran off out, and Michael was about to follow them, when he realized I wasn't behind him. " Aren't you coming?" he asked.
" Maybe later--I have to unpack and do a few things in the house. They want to spend time with you so go have fun!" " Alright...But we've got some catching up to do." he winked.

I looked around our beautiful house...I had only been gone for a week, but I still adore the atmosphere and scenery of our home. The cooks were preparing dinner, the maids were cleaning up the living room....it was a afternoon, actually.
I also wondered whats going to change in this new decade. We're starting in the 1990's--what will we make of it?
From outside the golf cart breaks whined and the horn was honked repeatedly. The giggles got louder as they entertered the main house.
Grace; tongue blue and a pack of open recces pieces in her hand, was giggling jumping up and down. Along with Mae and Chrissi, they had been sugared up with candy in their hands.
" Blue Rasperry jolly rancher mommy," she proudly giggled. " You children are going to spoil your dinner!" " Awww mommy..." whined Chrissi.
I laughed, " Wash up. Dinner should be served in a half hour."
The girls ran off, with one of the maids behind them, watching them. " So how have you been, Jeni?" asked Michael.
we sat down. " Exhausted, busy, overjoyed..."
" Anything new? Good News....bad News?"
" I've been requested for a family paramount telivision show."
" You're kidding! That's wonderful! When did this happen?"
" About an hour ago...they called."
" Wow."
" I was thinking, we're going to be very busy starting next week. And we've got three kids now. I think we need a babysitter, Michael."
" I think thats a good idea. Know anybody cut out for the job?"
" Hmmm....how about my friend Diana? She's a sweet girl...."
" Oh yes I think I remember her."
" I'd have to call her this weekend and see if she'll take the job."
" Mmmmhmmm," Michael agreed, almost moaning, his arm was around my shoulder, " I missed you....a lot."
" I was only gone for a week Mr.
Smooth Criminal."
" Can a husband not miss his wife?"
I scooted into his embrace, " I didn't say that.......so was it that you were saying earlier? Some catching up to do?" he bit his lip. It was dirty, and it was something he knew I couldn't bear.
