Chapter 8. Can my Love Save you?

First's Pov:

I saw Khaotung standing outside through the half open blinds of the bar. I thought he said he wouldn't come that day. But surprisingly, he did. I didn't know what I should have thought about it. He looked strange... as if... as if he was expecting someone... as if he wasn't there for me.

But I decided to approach him nonetheless when I realized that he was about to go back. "Ai'Tung! Why are you here? I thought you said you won't come today..," I shouted quite loudly while slowly coming closer to him.

He turned around and waved at me when I got a bit closer. "I changed my mind," He replied and smiled back at me. He's so cute. I had never thought I'd find someone that I found interesting enough to date. But I had no idea how I got this lucky.

He approached me and intertwined his fingers with mine as we walked into the bar. Everyone immediately looked at us and some even cheered as if we were a newlywed couple.

I once again dragged myself and him on the stage. I knew he didn't like to be the center of attention. But I also knew that he was used to being so. After all, he was one of the best detectives in Thailand.

Ignoring the people staring at us, I held both Khaotung's hand in mine and turned to look at the DJ who was a bit far away. "DJ, play a song for the couples. I want to dance with my boyfriend!" I shouted for everyone to hear.

Seeing the reaction of the people in the bar, you could clearly understand who was single and who was not. The single people were internally cursing at me which were most of the people in the bar while the mingle group were quite happy, especially when they came with their partners.

Khaotung hit my hand softly and whispered in my ear. "Stop it. You're embarrassing!" I just laughed at his reaction.

The DJ raised his hand as if saying 'got it' and played a really slow and romantic music. We intertwined one of our hand's fingers together and held it upward while my other hand was on Khaotung's shoulder and Khaotung's other hand was on my waist.

Khaotung couldn't reach my shoulder. He was almost a head shorter than me so his hand settled on my waist, a part of me I knew he really liked to touch. I had a slimmer waist and curvier body than Khaotung and he liked that quite a lot.

He once told me that it was one of his favorite things about a person's body. He said he always felt like his body was too flat, too boring. He felt like a square.

We were both blushing to our cores but still enjoying it for the best, not knowing for how long the moment would last.

We danced slowly to the beat of the song, moving through the stage while I noticed other couples dancing, and some single people staring at us while some other single people had found some random people to dance with.

The music stood to a romantic tune when the music's volume got lower and lower, indicating the end of the song. Khaotung and I stopped moving and released the intertwined fingers, placing it on his other shoulder as well. Khaotung did the same by placing his first hand on my other side of the waist.

I started leaning in and down while he tried to meet me halfway, our eyes locked on each other's lips. But just when we were about to kiss, I saw a black shadow pass by. I didn't pay attention at first until we were both inches apart but then heard a loud scream come from the shop next to the bar.

Everyone was startled. Before I could turn to look at Khao and process, he had already gone out of the bar towards the shop. I followed him and saw a totally unexpected sight.

There was that same black figure holding a gun at the shop owner's head. Everything was happening too fast for me to process.

The black figure's eyes landed on Khaotung who was standing at the very front of the crowd that formed right outside the shop. "Khaotung!" The figure yelled, mischievously.

I pushed the crowd away to stand right next to Khaotung. I was more scared than ever. However, Khaotung didn't look scared, not even a bit. As if he was expecting that.

"Come here," The figure yelled again, so loudly that even the very back of the town could hear.

I tried to stop Khaotung by holding his wrist but he let it go and took a few steps forward towards the figure. Something was not right. It felt as if Khaotung was being hypnotized by the figure.

"I see that gun under your shirt..," The figure said, quieter this time. "Bring it down!" He yelled once again. I could feel his voice getting more annoying with each yell.

Unexpectedly, Khaotung did exactly what he was told and placed the gun on the ground. He looked around and muttered calmly. "You know we can talk calmly, right? What do you want?" He asked.

"Calmly? What the hell are you talking about? Do you want this innocent man to be killed? And what would someone like me want? Money, power, what else?" The figure yelled even louder. The anger could be heard in his voice. I had no idea why these types of people were so angry at the world. What had we done?

Khaotung slowly took more and more steps forward. His face was totally emotionless while the figure even with the black mask he was wearing could be identified as threatened. Before the figure could do or say anything, Khaotung's arm was strangling the figure and flipped out his arms to get the gun from his hand.

Getting released, the shop owner let out a trembling sigh and ran away from the place, knowing that Khaotung could handle it.

I was just standing there, shook, trying to process what I had just seen. I knew detectives knew how to fight or handle people a little bit but what I had just witnessed with my own eyes was just fascinating. Knocking down someone who had weapons in their possession was not something I had ever imagined a detective being capable of doing.

Before the flash of my eyes, Khaotung knocked his elbow to the figure's backbone and the figure was on the ground, groaning in pain from his muscles being twisted. He tried to run away but Khaotung held him tightly. "I tried to handle you the good way but you refused," Khaotung murmured as he held the wrist of the figure with one hand and the hem of his black mask with the other.

I had always been told that short people were scary when they got angry. It was the first time I had seen it eye to eye. Khaotung pulled the mask off and his jaw immediately dropped as he shouted. "John!" He knew him. Khaotung knew that person.

Getting his shock to his advantage, John got out of Khaotung's grip and somehow managed to get the gun from the ground as well as getting another man from the crowd under the gun. For the first time, during the whole thing, Khaotung actually looked helpless. He also pointed the gun he had right beside him to John's forehead.

But another innocent man being captured made it hard for him to do anything. I had a feeling that was not going to end well. Someone was going to end up shot. So I rushed inside the bar to get a gun I had kept for safety reasons.

But when I came back, it was too late. Seeing the gun in my hand, John immediately shot the person in front of him. "Khaotung!!" I yelled. The bullet went right in his stomach.

I had no idea how my reflexes had worked so fast to catch Khaotung from the ground and shoot John at the same time. I shot John on the leg. I didn't know how but I did. He immediately fell to the ground, unable to walk.

But that was not my concern.

Khaotung was in my arms...

Shot...

Blood was streaming from his stomach to my body and my clothes...

"Khaotung... Stay awake, please. Don't..." I could not make up whatever I was about to say next. Tears filled my eyes as I realized I had failed to keep him awake. His eyes closed and the only thing I was hearing was my mind saying 'Don't leave me... You can't leave me.'

Someone from the crowd had called the ambulance and it had arrived. They were taking both Khaotung and John on the stretchers.

Yes, John too... He didn't deserve to be treated...

Khaotung was totally unconscious but John was still groaning and screaming in pain.

When I was in the ambulance, the pain had taken all over me. I was the reason all of that began in the first place. That wouldn't have happened if I didn't do shit... That wouldn't have happened if I could save him in time.

My tears had stopped but only I could understand what I was feeling. I was totally numb from inside and that wasn't even the beginning.

To Be Continued.....
