Chapter 12. The true Culprit
After Khaotung left the apartment
Khaotung had just left and I watched him leave with obvious disappointment. Whenever we got any time to spend, it was cut short. I didn't know if that was actually an emergency or he was avoiding me on purpose.
He had been investigating that case for quite a while, he had to discover at least something. Though I didn't know how much he had found out, I was sure it was something related to me. After everything that happened, there had to be some evidence left against me that was probably forcing him to keep his distance from me.
Do I want him close to me? I don't know.
My mind was confused. I wanted him close but yet again, I didn't. I wanted to spend more time with him, get to know him but that's not a very smart thing to do if I knew he'd probably get in trouble if he did so.
I silently went back inside, throwing myself on the couch as if exhausted. Picking up my phone, I scrolled through Instagram but got bored in a few minutes and put the phone down.
Besides being a bar owner at night, I worked in a coffee shop during the day time. But that coffee shop had been closed for more than a week. Apparently, the shop owner had an accident and was still recovering.
Therefore, I had nothing to do besides just scrolling through the internet. When I was going to turn on the TV to see any news perhaps about the case, I heard the doorbell ring. Khaotung shouldn't be there too soon. It had barely been 15 minutes.
I opened the door but saw no one. When I looked down to the doormat, I found a package there. Seemed like a food delivery. Khaotung did tell me that he would buy me lunch so he probably delivered it to me.
Delivery guys don't usually drop it on the doormat like that. It was a bit strange. But without thinking much, I picked the package. I suddenly heard a strange sound coming from the back door.
I turned around towards my house to once again find nothing but suddenly, I felt a soft handkerchief on my nose and before I knew it, I was unconscious. I didn't remember anything after that.
When I woke up, I found myself at my bar, with my hands and legs tied to a chair tightly. The curtains of the bar were closed. It seemed to be quite late outside since I could see the moonlight flash inside. The windows and doors were locked. I was only left in a dark place with no one around when I started hearing footsteps.
I saw no one. My bar was big but not as big for me to not notice if anyone was inside. But the moment I thought that, the devil arrived. I moved my body around to escape but all try was in vain. The ropes were too strong. "Let me go, you bastard!" I yelled as my chair fell to the ground when I struggled with the tightness of the ropes.
"Bastard? That's how you address your phi?" The guy in front of me questioned as if he was pitying me. He clicked his tongue, watching me struggle to get up from the ground with the chair.
"The respect I had for you as my phi is long gone!" I yelled, not even caring about what was going to happen since I talked to him like that. He deserved it. He deserved every fucking shit I said to him!
"Aww... poor baby... You seem lost. Want me to guide you back to your path?" He clicked his tongue again and mocked me. Grabbing my chair, he put it directly to the ground with a big thump as if I weighed nothing. My body was turning red from not getting enough blood flow as the ropes were blocking the proper blood flow in my body.
I didn't care. He was the last person I'd seek help from if I was lost. "Let me go, you jerk! You're the reason for this all!" I yelled even louder. I wasn't afraid that people would hear me but unfortunately, I knew they wouldn't. Since the bar was very popular, I had made it sound proof in order to avoid getting sound complaints from nearby areas.
"What if I don't? What are you gonna do about it?" He yelled back. I could hear my blood boiling along every word he was uttering from that damn mouth.
"Khaotung will come get you..," I murmured slowly. My voice had gotten weak from yelling too much but my strength hadn't. After everything he had done, he still had the guts to do that.
He grabbed me by my chin and lifted it up. "Really? Where is he?" He said, mocking as if he wasn't talking about a human but rather a weak and injured puppy. My expression immediately shifted from obvious pain physically and mentally to concern. Why was he mocking like that? Was it one of his plans?
"He will come..." My voice got weaker each time I spoke, I could feel my strength drift away with every second just like the first time that happened. I trusted him...
"And where is he? Damn it!" His voice got even louder. He was enjoying it very much watching me lose in front of him. For the first time ever, I could feel the connection. He didn't like to lose.
He grabbed my cheeks with his finger and put another head on the right side of my head before throwing me harshly towards the wall on the left. I did nothing to stop whatever was going on. I didn't have the strength to do so anymore. I was tired of everything... of thinking... of life. Now wherever life took me, I'd go without hesitation.
I felt blood stream through my face but there was no sign of pain on my face as if I had gotten numb and turned into a stone. Not satisfied with the reaction, he picked up a stone from a corner and threw it at me. I felt like I was being insulted, rather than being abused. The stone hit my arm but had no effect and jumped its way back bouncing to one corner.
After, I lost count of how many various weapons he had used on me except guns till I became unconscious. He had once told me even though I didn't want to listen that he didn't like guns because fire a few bullets and the person would be gone... Forever. He liked to torture, to make the person feel the pain rather than killing him instantly.
That was one of the brutalest things I'd heard someone say to me but the only reaction I had was a sigh.
When I woke up, I found people gathered around me. I was on the road. I had no idea how I ended up there but I didn't care. One person from the gathering held a hand towards me, getting me up to his shoulder. I wrapped my arm around his shoulder, leaning my weight onto him. "Are you okay? Should we go to a hospital?" The guy asked.
"Mmm..." I tried to speak but that's all that could come out of my mouth as I had injuries on my mouth as well.
I felt myself get dizzy as I realized my head was still bleeding. I lifted up my head to look at the guy but I couldn't see properly. I was too weak to even keep my eyes closed. It took me a while to understand that the guy was taking me to the hospital seeing my critical condition. I felt myself in a cab but I had barely forced myself to keep my eyes open.
When I got my senses back totally, I was standing at the front gate of the hospital, my body weight still leaned on the guy when I heard someone yelling 'emergency'. There was a guy on a stretcher, getting taken to the emergency room.
I tried to open my eyes to look and I instantly regretted looking. It was Khaotung...
His whole body was covered in blood...
I couldn't see him like that... And that caused me to instantly lose the little amount of consciousness that was left.
To Be Continued.....
