Chapter 11. True or False?
Khao's Pov:
In the end, after getting tired of thinking too much, I went back to First's apartment. But before we could spend much time, I got called out... again.
Both First and I were used to that happening but this time, I was shocked to find that Jack was really able to capture John.
When I got to the office, I found John tied to a chair in the middle of my basement. His hands and legs were tightly tied to the legs and back of the chair. There was a red cloth in his mouth. He was trying to move out of the rope, trying to scream out to let him go. Next to him was standing Jack and next to Jack was another person that I couldn't really recognize from the darkness.
I slowly took steps towards John. I didn't know why it felt so good seeing him suffer. He had made me go through a lot and I could do whatever I wanted to him but I knew I wouldn't do much because it was my job.
I kept walking slowly until my legs stood only a few inches away from his fidgeting body. "John... How does it feel to be here, dear best friend?" I asked, purposely sounding intimidating. I didn't like to hurt people but I knew I needed to scare him to get the truth out.
"Umm... umm." John kept making sounds as if he wanted to say something but couldn't because of the cloth. I walked over and removed the cloth from between his lips, hanging it on his neck. "Let me go, bastard!" He shouted immediately.
Him speaking like that made me smile, definitely not out of happiness. He was not like that when he was trying his best to befriend me just because he wanted my girl or more like craved my girl. I moved away, clicking my tongue in disappointment.
"And what will you do if I let you go? Rape someone else?" I asked, sounding manipulative but I was actually angry and furious. I could've let my anger out since I didn't have any chance to get to him about what he did to me and Nim but I didn't because I wanted him to know I was maturer than him.
"I never raped anyone! What the hell are you talking about?" I smiled again. I knew I looked creepy as he looked scared. He was always like that. Didn't matter how much of a bad person he actually was and which heinous crime he committed, he would rather die than admit it.
I smiled gently and walked back to him, getting closer. I placed my index finger and thumb on both of his cheeks and squeezed it roughly until his lips were open, and his cheeks turned red. "Are you gonna say what you have to do with the case yourself or should I make you say it?" I asked. He shook his head to shrug my hand away from his face but my grip was tight.
"What case? I don't know what you're talking about!" My smile got wider.
"Fine! I guess we'll have to handle it the hard way..." I turned my head to look at the other guy that was standing next to Jack. It was Ten. The older brother of Joke, who was a victim of that case. He had earlier promised to help me if I needed help with something because he really wanted justice for his brother. He was a really really fit man and knew exactly what he was there for.
Ten stepped up and took out a bat that was hidden in one corner of the basement. Without any sound, he began to thrashing the bat on John's body. John shouted and screamed in pain but said nothing.
Until the bat accidentally hit the leg where he was shot, He cried out in pain and instantly shouted, "I really don't know what you're talking about! I was at that shop for robbery!"
My eyebrows furrowed once again. Why would he still lie after getting hit like that? I put a finger up to Ten for him to stop for a moment. I leaned in to John again and knelt slightly on the ground, "Why did you target me then?" I asked.
"You're a detective. I knew you'd call the police on me," He muttered breathlessly. Still panting from the pain that was in his body.
"Your cousin died from this and you're saying you don't know anything? Stop your bullshit!" I asked back and he immediately turned his head to the side.
John stayed silent and shook his head. "I don't even know how he died!" John yelled.
He seemed to tell the truth. The signs that someone's lying didn't strive at all. He didn't seem nervous at all so I ended up believing him. But that was a big mistake...
I walked away from John and went up to Jack. "Release him," I whispered. Jack seemed shocked that I had already believed him but he did what he was told and let him go.
I really didn't know what to do, who to believe. I knew I'd probably regret some of the decisions I had made but I needed to do something about it. Otherwise, that would be just a dead end.
After thinking thoroughly about everything, I was given the chance to go to First, as promised, or not go. But at that point, I was too attached to First, I didn't care if he ended up being the one behind everything I was going through, but I didn't want to be the one to hurt him. Maybe I really had fallen in love and it was a big obstacle on my way to the solution.
In the end, my heart won. It didn't matter how many times maybe the truth or First himself had hurt me, I still loved him and I knew he loved me too. That was the only thing I was totally sure of. Even if one day he denied everything, he wouldn't be able to deny that he was, indeed, in love with me as well.
I went back to First's apartment but somehow, I didn't have a great feeling about everything that was going on. At that point, whoever was behind everything was threatening me to stop digging deeper into that case. The other day, I got a phone call where the other side used a voice changer to tell me to stop investigating from which I knew I was being followed. Therefore, I was worried First would get in trouble because of me. At least by then, I was sure there was not only one person behind the whole issue.
When I arrived at First's apartment, I found the main door open. With clear panic in my eyes, I went inside, shouting First's name but nobody answered.
I roamed around the house, looking for First when I walked to the bedside table and found a note.
*If you want to see First, come to the bar.*
