Get Me a Gold Star I'm Going Back to School (not that I want to)
When I walked into the kitchen, Sally was on the phone talking to someone. Apparently it was a good conversation because Sally was smiling throughout it, sounding extremely pleased with whoever was on the other line. I stood in the doorway, aiming to pick up what was being said.
"That sounds great. I'll see you at nine, Calypso." my eyebrows became raised, why was Calypso going to come here at nine on a day she should be in the school. Unless she was sick, but it's school, so they might make you have to go. I knocked on the door frame, alerting Sally to my presence.
At my explain look, she did. "I asked Calypso to stop by to get you to go to school for an hour or two."
I glared harshly at her, not understanding why I can't decided to go or not. She smiled gently at me, "Pelagia, I know you'd rather stay here. However I have to run some errands, and I don't feel comfortable having you be here by yourself."
I huffed and stalked back down the hall. I sat on the balcony that ran next to the window in the room I was given, debating on ditching for the time being. Just as I was preparing to shimmy down the pipe next to the balcony, Calypso entered the room with a bright smile on her face.
"There you are." she said happily, "Are you ready to go?"
I stiffly joined her, wanting them to know how unappreciative of the situation I was. Calypso was rather joyful, a slight bounce to her step as she lead to the way to the school. Her voice filled the stony silence that I was emitting.
"You're finally going to meet your second hour teacher!" Calypso gushed, "It's an extremely fun class."
I ignored her, not even faking interest because I decided to hate school, so I didn't want to hear anything about it. We ended up in front of a classroom that had some pictures of ancient Rome on the door, obviously trying to entice poor souls into there. Calypso walked right in, and I noticed that no one was there, so I assumed that we where early. She sat in the exact middle of the room, making me have to separate from her because there was no way I was going to sit in an area where I couldn't see half of the people; I went into the back row.
Slowly the other students trickled in, and some of them had the audacity to give me a strange look- I glared at them, efficiently getting them to look away. They all settled down, sitting patiently for the bell and the teacher. I slouched down in my seat, wanting this to be over with, so I could leave.
"Good morning class." the teacher said. His beard could do with some trimming, and the kids seemed like the liked him; they perked up when he entered. Even though he was in a wheelchair, I didn't get the feeling of authenticity about it, but there was no way I was going to investigate, I'd seem like a huge asshole.
"Good morning Mr. Brunner." the class chimed together in unison. He smiled at all of them, before locking eyes with me and taking note of my presence. He looked like he was going to say something to me, but I just glared as evilly as I could.
Mr. Brunner's class was rather entertaining to observe. The kids seemed so eager to please him, with there incorrect pronunciations and extreme attentiveness. Mr. Brunner seemed to enjoy how much the kids liked him, probably thinking he should get some sort of sticker.
"Excuse me miss," he said, making the entire class stare at me. I hardcore glared at everyone. "would you please pay attention to the lesson?"
I snorted doubtfully, making him sigh. A couple other times throughout the lesson I got the feeling he wanted to get me to participate, but I glared at him, daring him to just to try. The bell rang, ticking me off, and I followed Calypso out the door.
She turned to me with a hopeful look, as if she was expecting me to have had fun in that class. However she looked disappointed when she saw that I wasn't showing any sort of enjoyment. Calypso sighed, before leading us to the next class. She was surprisingly quiet.
"We have assigned seating in this class." Calypso told me, glancing hesitantly at me. "I hope that's okay."
I sighed, annoyed at that. She glanced at me before entering the classroom and walking up to the teacher, finding out where I was sitting. She took me to my seat, going on to tell me that she was close by, but not in the same group as me.
"Hey, you're that girl from before." a surprised tone said. I turned my head, feeling my throat go dry. Today was rather sucky, so I decided to glare at him.
After the bell rang, he turned to me again. "My name's Leo. What's yours?"
I didn't say anything. He frowned slightly, but had to turn to face the teacher because the lesson began.
Throughout the lesson, he kept trying to get me to talk to him, but I just stares straight ahead, wondering what the fuck was going on the board- something with letters surrounded by little numbers.
As he moved to poke me, probably trying to get me to talk, I shot him death glare #35. He froze, paling and looking away. I smirked satisfied that I got him to stop bothering me. I must've cursed myself with that because not a moment later, he started pestering me again- this time about whatever teacher made up to teach us.
I was thankful the bell rang when it did, otherwise Leo would've had a beautiful broken nose. I totally didn't understand my younger self, did she not she how annoying this kid was. As I stalked out of the classroom, to the waiting Calypso, I made a promise to myself that I would get him to learn to not bother me on stupid matters.
"How did you like sitting next to Leo?" Calypso asked, her voice sounding strange when she said his name. "I hope he wasn't too much of a bother. He doesn't know when to stop bothering people, it's gotten a couple of people in detention due to it."
I nearly blanched as I turned to look at her. A small part of me whispered that Calypso had failed because for some crazy ass reason, she liked Leo. I didn't want to know how the Hades this annoying kid managed to charm a rather calm and quieter girl into falling for him... probably something extremely stupid, like falling out of the sky into her lap.
"Uh, Pelagia?" Calypso asked, fidgeting under my stare. I shook my head, clearing my thoughts of all the crazy ways they could've met and charmed each other. I shrugged at her when she opened her mouth again; I saw no reason to piss off a love sick teen, since it tended to be a bad idea.
Calypso gave me one last glance before she lead me to the front of the school, so Sally could come and get me. What I found was funny, was that Calypso would mention him periodically throughout her conversation with me, and I wondered if it was intentional.
