"so tell me, why are you here?" he asked calmly.
he just shrugged his shoulders.
the man tsked at the boy.
"there must be a reason why you are here, this ain't no day care," the man stated.
still no getting response from the boy, the man tried a different approach.
"are those new?" he asked as he pointed at the numerous lines on the boy's skin.
the boy nodded mutely.
"so obviously there is a reason why you are here."
"nooo, i just do it for fun," the boy sarcastically said.
"ha ha ha," the therapist faked laugh, happy that he at least got a response from the boy.
"well your type of fun seems very crazy," he played along.
"how about trying out 'normal' fun and hang out with your friends," the therapist suggested.
"i do more than hanging out with my friends," mark said, smiling sadly knowing that his only friends were his blades.
"what do you mean? why did the tone of your voice change?"
"all of my 'real' friends are fake," mark told him, while making quotation marks with his fingers as he said the word "real."
"how are they fake? did they do anything to you?"
mark shook his head.
"i know they're just friends with me because they pity me," mark stated.
"how can they pity you if they don't even have a reason to pity you?"
that phrase silenced mark.

("real friends"= friends from los angeles)
(the therapist says that because he knows that mark did not tell them what his life was like back in korea)
