The End of Time

I take my time walking down the golden halls, taking in as much as I can. I don't seem to have the answer for the riddle and I might be the one who destroys this timeline, but I won't be going down without a fight. The halls echo from my footsteps and the lights from the windows looked dimmer. This place once had a happy atmosphere. Now, it's this place that will determine life or death.

At the end of the hall shined a deep purple. She's here already. My palms become sweaty and I ball the to fists at my side. I wasn't going to give her the satisfaction of my fear. I stride over to her and stop within ten feet. She waves her hand in the air and tests out her new ability taken from Sans. She points at me and my legs slip out from under me.

The back of my head makes contact with the floor and I groan. I can almost see the black dotted stars. Her foot meets my chest and presses down. "Well? Have you got an answer dear sister?" I didn't get time to say anything as something gray shoots out from behind the column.

He grabs her foot and kneels by my side. He was so powerless. "Sans! Get away from her! You'll get hurt!" Chara's grin seemed to rip across her face as she looked at his vulnerable figure. "You're looking well comedian. I almost forgot about you." I wriggle beneath her helplessly. "You will not hurt him!" Sans grips her foot and begged her to let me go. He actually begged her. I hated to see him like this. She shoves him away where he limply collides against a column.

"Don't have the answer?" I clamp my mouth together. The silence told her everything. She sighs. "What a disappointment. It doesn't matter now, your soul belongs to me anyway." She raises her knife in the air.

The very thing you were born with pleases us all. . . .

Sans was back at Chara's feet distracting her, but she pushes him away with ease.

Capable of making men and women alike fall. . . .

Her foot becomes heavy on my chest, making it harder to breath. My hands found their way around her ankle and clamped down.

While only experienced by few, it is treasured by all. . . .

I got it.

With all the strength I could muster, I gasp out a whisper of the word. Chara tilts her head at me. "I can't quite hear you." I said it once more. "Love. . . the answer. . . . is love." Her movement pauses and a sickening crack echoes across the room.

She had crushed my spine and I had died again.

I open my eyes to see my corpse lying on the ground. My body was twisted in the wrong direction and Chara looked at it in horror. Her necklace was no longer glowing purple. It was now a dull gray. She gasps and steps away from my body. She clasps the necklace in her hand. "No. . . no no no. . . NO!!!" I turn my head to see Sans kneeling next to my body in silence on the cracked, bloody floor.

Chara's face slackened. Sans' eyes were blue and green again. The green fades to become a bright yellow again. Justice will be served. His face twists into something truly lupine, like a wolf toying with its prey. Chara backs away- away from my corpse and Sans. She only whispered "Please" before a bright blue light exploded. She collides against the golden column with his hands on her neck. The wall cracks beneath her as he shoved her with his clawed hands.

He had become a half gaster beast. Horns protruding from his skull, large clawed hands, and a sharp barbed tail. Truly a terrifying and a beautiful creature. She thrashes around, but could do very little against his new-found strength. She screeches, lashing at him and kicking him with all she had. His claws raised in the air, her scream was cut short as his claws dug straight through her head and beneath the golden stone.

His hand closes around the neck he held before ripping it clean out.

Silence falls across the room.

I stared at my broken body and back at sans when he morphs back to his usual self. The barrier had broken. Chara can't reset anymore. She has lost her ability from her bet. He holds his hand out reaching out for the reset button. The world swirls in darkness and a new beginning emerges. It's the end of this timeline and it's time to start a new beginning.

Once he reset, his clothes were no longer bloody and his eyes were back to a gentle white glow. He picks up my body and heads back to the coffin room again. Where I first woke up in. He wipes down the blood away from my face and sets me in the coffin. I almost looked like sleeping. The flowers covered my body and he gently caresses my cheek. He holds my hand in silence, shaking. "I'm sorry" was all he said for the past few minutes. My hand caressed his cheeks, but the body looked pale.

I won't be able to be with him again. . . . It hurts just to think about it. I wanted to rush up to him and embrace him, but there was nothing I could do.

My coffin was taken inside a large church in the Underground. Everything in it gleams with silver and gold. Flowers decorated the walls and the sunlight came through from the top. It was almost like walking through a large greenhouse. Everyone gathered inside with Sans in the very front row closest to my body. It made my heart clench just seeing how hurt Sans looked. I wanted to comfort him somehow. To tell him I was ok and that I didn't die in vain.

Sans had stayed there for hours until he was the only one left. He walks up to the coffin and looks with sadness. I could only look at him from a distance. There really was nothing I can do. Soon, he'll be going to the surface with the others with Frisk. I will remain here forever. Sans finally gets up and leaves me here alone. The door shuts and is forever locked. The lights become dim and I stare at my closed coffin.

I wish I could turn back time and stop Chara from killing me. I am a fool and I deserve to rot here.

It has been a century after my death. A hundred years trapped in this cathedral. The vines and plants on the walls are still fresh and lively from the water that still runs through here. The water here is pure that even the most toxic plants have become pure.  I sat on my coffin and sigh. I look at the floor and I remember him. I miss Sans. I wanted to get out of this cathedral, away from here, but it held me inside. Kept me alive. Sans would come every year down here and add flowers to my coffin or the small garden around me. It helped comfort me.

Just as I was about to wander around the halls, I hear the smallest of whispers echo through the hall. My head whirls around, but I couldn't find the source of the voice. I push myself off the coffin. "Hello? Is anybody here?" Another echo calls out.

Follow. . . .

Me. . . .

A faint blue glow resonated from the hall to my left. I float towards the small echo flower. More sprout from the cracked halls beneath. I began to follow their trail faster and faster. All I could hear was the rushing rhythm of my heart and the echo flowers. They led me to a small hole in the wall. The lights of the outside world. I hang my head and sigh.

"I can't go out there. Can't you see that?"

I can barely fit through the hole either. I bang my hands against the side of the wall and it coes crashing down, collapsing and covering the hole to my only escape. I belong here now. The whispers are silenced and I heavily sigh. I turn only to see a faint glow in the distance. Curious, I float over to it. It began to take its shape and form to form a soul. My red soul. It lie on the floor glimmering weakly.

Carefully, I pick it up and held it in my hands. A full piece of the soul, no longer three pieces. I carry it to the place where my coffin was and couldn't believe my eyes. The vines on the walls outstretch their arms and reach towards the soul. The water floats out of their little river and reaches out for the soul in my hands. Echo flowers appeared right out of the ground and pollinated the room in its blue glow. The vines take hold of the soul, water wrapps around it, and the blue pollen mixed to gether to form a blue liquid.

A vine inches towards me and quickly pricks my fingers. I was surprised at the action, but I wasn't afraid. My blood drops in the water orb turning into a bright red color, engulfing the room in its glow. I shield my face from the light and step back a little. The lights die and everything flashed back to normal. The vines are back on the wall, the water flows through the small river, and there re no echo flowers to be seen. Only my soul remained floating in the center for me.

It felt like a dream. I pinched myself and yelp, but the soul still remains floating in the center of the room. It's glow was lively and it didn't fade. Carefully, I take it in my hands and float over to my sleeping corpse. I let it become absorbed by my body and my ghostly figure disappears. I gasp and here I was, awake in my open coffin. Flowers covered me everywhere and I sneeze from the pollen.

The dress I wore was a pure white and the blood had seeped away. I touch the edge of the coffin and drag my fingers. I'm alive again. I'm free. The door opens and a certain someone held a bunch of flowers in his hands. I smile and he returns the smile.

"Hello Sans. . . ."
