I walk into the cafe with Mason and look up towards the upper teir as we wait in line for our food. Its obvious that the popular crowd sits above the rest of the student body up on the upper tier.

Everyone is whispering and looking at the doorway waiting for something.

"What's going on" I ask looking around.

"You'll soon be in on all the gossip" I hear Rose laugh as she pops up behind me.

I jump with fright as I didn't expect her to be standing there. "Oh my gosh Rose you're like a bloody ninja" I cry.

She just cracks up laughing and grabs a tray, as she begins to fill me in on the gossip.

"So there was a big party on Saturday night and people saw Levi leave with this chick Natalia, but get this Natalia has been in a relationship for the last 6 months with this guy from the basketball team." She says as she grabs a bottle of water.

"I'm expecting some drama at lunch today" Mason laughs as he grabs a tray and starts loading enough food for the two of us. "Mason its ok I was only joking about you paying" I say as I go to grab a tray.

"Nah baby girl I want too" and smiles at me. Damn I swear to myself this kid is starting to grow on me.

He pays for our food and I follow him and Rose up to the upper tier. Some guys say hi to us and move to make way.

Rose takes a seat as I stand next to Mason. I look around the tables and notice everyone looking between us two.

"Yo everyone" Mason yells down the table as he puts the tray down. Everyone stops talking and stares at us. The pair of eyes that I notice the most is Levi's. Hes glaring at Mason.

My eyes widen as I realise what's going on. I look at Mason to see him grinning. Damn he must be more popular then I thought.

"This little minx is Tia and shes gonna be hanging with us" he announces as he grabs my hand and forces me to do a twirl. I subconsciously giggle as I twirl into his arms. "Tell the blood hounds to leave her alone" he looks around the table hinting towards the cheerleaders.

Some of the b*tchy looking ones roll there eyes, where as some of the nicer ones just smile politely at me. I smile looking up towards Mason as he holds me close to him.

A sudden growl erupts from the end of the table as Levi stands up making everyone hush there chatter. I look up to see Levi looking pissed off staring in our direction. His lean muscular body is tense as the muscles in his arms and neck are straining. His normally cocky smirk is twisted in an angry leer. I look up to meet his eyes and see a anger that I can't describe starting to emerge as his eyes start glowing. Instead of his beautiful blue sparkle I see a dangerous blue haze. Everyone sensing his wolf was about to take control starts standing to assess the situation.

What the hell is going on I think to myself. I can tell he isn't happy about me being in Masons arms but I didn't think he would freak out and go all wolf on everyone. His friends stand up trying to calm him down as he continues to stare in our direction. Realising what he's looking at they look towards us also.

From the corner of my eye I see the girl that was in his bedroom last night walking up behind us with a tall looking guy with black hair wrapped around her waist approaching the table.

"What's going on people" she purrs as she walks up to the table pretending to be oblivious to the obvious tension.

I look up at Mason to see if he has caught onto the looks that Levi is throwing. He just smiles down to me and puts his mouth close to my ear and whispers. "Let the drama begin" and sits me down next to him.

I see that everyone is looking between Levi and the girl as the realisation that he was growling must have been because of her. I nod towards Mason and sit down watching the drama unfold.

Levi looks towards the girl and a look of disgust comes over his face. He looks back at me quickly and shakes his head. - No one else notices this as they realising he's starting to calm down.

I sit there as Mason hands me some food and starts eating. The rest of the crowd settle back into their normal lunch time routines of gossip, laughing and making out. I notice a number of eyes looking my way, mostly the guys. Even tho I'm only half wolf I can smell a tinge of heat in the air. These kids are highly sexually charged I realise.

As I reach for my bottle of water, I see the girl who just sat down look across the table towards me.

"Who invited this trash" looking at me. I chose to ignore the comment because I didn't want the drama to be about me this lunch. She realises this and stares straight at me with a evil looking grin,

"I hope we didn't keep you up last night" she's says in a quiet voice. Looking at her boyfriend who didn't hear her. - He must be human I think.

"umm excuse me?" I reply looking at her.

"are you deaf or plain dumb" she leers clearly trying to embarrass me.

I sit there and look at her with my poker face. I tilt my head to the side feeling my inner b*tch emerge.. Oh hell no I think to myself. I can see everyone is slowly starting to ears drop into the conversation.

I smile as I realise I'm about to put her on blast as the guy with his arms wrapped around her is clearly her boyfriend.

"No I heard you, I just don't know why you thought you could talk to me, clearly seeing as I saw you sneaking around my neighbourhood Sunday morning smelling of another guy, when this guy is clearly your boyfriend constitutes you as being a skank, then perhaps you're the stupid one".

I hear Mason hiss at the burn that I just laid on her. With that everyone at the table look at me like I'm insane.

"Natalia is that true" I hear her boyfriend growl.

"What ever Matt you've cheated on me more times then I can remember so pull your head in" she replies trying to sound strong as she is clearly embarrassed with the situation.

She stands up to storm away, but before doing so she growls at me, "this is not over" and takes off down the stairs and out the hallway with her boyfriend in tow.

"Damm about time someone put that hoe in her place" Liam cracks up.

I look up to see Liam smiling at me laughing as half of the table cracks up.

With that done it was like I was immediately welcomed into the group. I sat and talked to a few of them as lunch went on. Even the cheerleaders came over and talked to me trying to recruit me to the squad.

Mason was glowing at me as I chatted away with Rose and a few of the girls.

I noticed the guys stopped staring at me so much, but I still noticed a few sneaky glances from them, Levi and Liam included.

Before lunch finishes, I shoot away to try and find the bathroom, I haven't been all morning. Walking down the hall I feel a hand grab my wrist and drag me into an empty storage room.

I turn around and see Levi standing in front of me. "I need to talk to you" he whispers. I look up and see a rush of mixed emotions running through his eyes.

"Last night, it isn't what you think"

He looks so hot right now, looking extremely vulnerable with an underlying current of alpha strength. His hotness till apparent in his washed out jeans and a tight white tee with his varsity jacket on the outside. His scruffy blonde hair styled casually helps him pull the sexy football player off nicely.

"Yea its ok, don't get me wrong it was a hot kiss but I get it, you don't want it to happen again" I say looking at him expecting him to nod with understanding.

He shakes his head with a growl. "No Tia, I'm not talking about that, I'm talking about Natalia, what happen with her and I wasn't what you think. Sure she did come around thinking that more was gonna happen but I sent her away. She threw a fit but she didn't stay with me" I see the strength and honesty coming from him; I can't help but believe him.

"and that kiss" he says taking a step closer to me.

"was the hottest"

another step

"most fulfilling"

another step

"kiss I've ever had" he whispers as he reaches up to stroke my cheek. He tilts his lips to the side of my head. "EVER" he whispers it into my ear kissing my neck. His warm breath causes my body to respond as the nerve endings all ignite causing a shiver to rush down my spine.

"I hate it that you smell like Mason" he growls.

"Even if he is my best friend, my wolf doesn't like it, he won't allow it" he says as he sucks my neck gently.

I pull away from him quickly.

"Just because you think we are mates"

I said as I take another step away from him.

"doesn't mean you can kiss me"

another step

"or touch me without my permission". I growl.

"I know you heard my warning this morning" I say.

"that goes for you and all the other pervs in this school who thinks I'm gonna fall into their arms".

I look up expecting to see him angry, but he is smiling. "That makes me and my wolf happy" he smiles.

"huh"?

"it means I won't have to watch any other guy touch you" he answers with a possessive tone.

Before I'm able to control my mouth something inside me is itching to get it out.

"What about me? If I'm supposed to be your mate, do you think I appreciate watching you with other chicks"

I cover up my mouth with my hands quickly. "Actually forget I said that" I say quickly as I turn to rush out the door.

I storm off to my next class trying to pretend like that conversation didn't happen. I didn't have any new friends in my last class but I did see Natalia and the skanky barbie from this morning sitting together whispering and looking at me with evil eyes.

Aghh great, they are totally plotting my death I moan internally. After a full hour of enduring the angry looks from the evil duo I'm slightly relieved to hear the bell ring. I jump up and make my way out the door.

I walk past the two as I hear a female growl rumble from Natalia's chest. I turn around to see her standing up.

"Why the f*ck do I smell Levi on you?"

I turn around... she did seriously not just ask me that. "You are seriously stupid if you're asking me that" I ask as I start to walk away.

"Actually, smelling you now all I can smell is Mason, who are we kidding you would never smell like

Levi, he cant stand you, he told me himself" she said with a smug look.

I roll my eyes at her as I walk away, with each step her words sunk into me like tiny little blades. So he told her he can't stand me, making me feel worse as I walk away pretending like I don't care.

Rose walks up to me asking me how my days been. We chat casually as I walk out towards my car. As usual everyone is hanging around the student lot gossiping about what happened today. On more then one occasion I heard my name whispered.

All the hurt feelings I had after hearing those things coming from Natalia disappear as I hear my name being called.

I look up and see Van smiling with his green eye glistening and his dark brown hair all wavy around his ears. He was leaning against my new car dressed in a pair of dark jeans with a black shirt under his own schools blue varsity jacket. Completely looking like an alien in the sea of red varsity jackets milling around the car park. All of which are currently staring at him with rage.

Ignoring the looks and glares he's receiving he gives me the biggest smile ever. I shake my head knowing he purposely wore his jacket to raise some eyebrows.

Haha I think to myself, I started this day with a bang I might as well finish with a bang. I run over to him giggling like an idiot and jump into his arms wrapping my legs around his hips and my arms around his neck. He bursts out laughing and twirls me around as I laugh with him.

He kisses me on the cheek and puts me down. He sniffs for a second and stares at me with a confused look but replaces it with a big grin as I steady myself against my car. "Hey, I didn't know you were coming" I smile as I lean against my car looking at him.

"After you called me today I couldn't stop thinking of you so when coach cancelled practise I thought id surprise you" he grinned.

I smile as I realise how lucky I am to have a best friend like him. I look into his green eyes and see him checking me out. "Hey perv stop with the stalker eyes" I laugh as I slap him.

He shakes his head while grinning. "damm Tia bear no wonder you had to throw some threats around, I like this outfit, but I don't like all these guys staring at you, here take my jacket" he says while pulling it off. I catch a glimpse of his snail trail down his firm abs as his shirt rides up slightly.

I laugh as I put it on, sighing as his warmth and smell invade my senses.

Looking around the car park noticing some kids have already left for the day, I streatch out my limited wolf senses to realise the kids that were left over are all wolves. Some of them are pretending not to notice us but others were straight out staring, and to my surprise some of the girls were smiling in Van's direction. A pang of something runs through me but I shake it off. Looking to the steps I see Levi,

Mason and Liam glaring towards us.

Realising what's happening I look at Van and ask. "Not that I'm not happy to see you but should you be here considering your about to be alpha of another pack" I say quietly. I mentally slap myself at how blonde of a moment that just was I didn't need to whisper considering how sensitive wolves hearing is I know they can hear everything I say.

"Nah its ok we have a peace treaty, but you probably don't know that, none of us wanna break that treaty so I can come here every day if you like" he smiles cheekily.

"Mmmhhh that clearly wasn't just for me now was it"

I laugh at how obvious he had just been. I see Rose walk over to us.

"Van this is my girl Rose, Rose this is my Van" I say quickly. "I mean he's not mine but he's my friend..." I gush, clearly getting flustered with myself shaking my head apologetically. "Aghh you know what I mean" I exclaim with now red cheeks.

"Woah you must be something if can make this one blush like that, she's been a stone cold poker player all day" Rose grins.

"I heard she did" he says smiling down at me. "Which one of these douches bags did she threaten I might just have to remind him" Van says with a smile but I could see a hard edge to the smile.

"Hey leave my new friends alone" I say hitting him again.

"And anyways after he heard the threat he chilled out, and we had lunch together he's cool" I say to Van with my angry eyes.

"Well if any of them get to handsy again tell me and I'll deal with it" he says in a protective tone wrapping me into a one armed hug.

"And anyways I'm the only one that's allowed to get handsy" he says as his hand slips down to pinch my booty while laughing.

I instinctively jump and stomp on his foot. "I'm going to issue you the same warning I've been giving out today, touch me without permission like that again and ill kick you in the nuts" I say trying to hold back my laugh as I see him jumping up and down.

"Actually you didn't say they could ask for permission you just said you'd kick them" Rose laughs along watching Van moan in pain.

After hearing her say that Van stops acting like his foot is sore and grins at me. "So I'm the only one that was told that all I have to do is ask for permission and if you say yes its handsy city for me aye" he says waggling his eyebrows.

I roll my eyes as I shake my head. Thinking back to what I said to Levi, subconsciously realising I had told him earlier on today that he had to ask for permission too. Looking over at him I could see how angry he was.

"Well I'm not going to be giving anyone permission to go all as you called it "handsy city" on me anytime soon" I say glancing at Van and then diverting my eyes to Levi who I know just caught them quickly.

"Unless your that actor from that new Conan movie.. what's huh name again.. that's right Jason

Momoa he is so hot in that movie" I sigh as I bite my lips.

Rose squeals "I know I saw it 3 times just to perve on him"

I crack up laughing as Van crosses his arms and rolls his eyes.

"I knew I liked you for a reason" I grin.

I turn to Van "how did you get here? Wanna go for yogurt?" I ask.

"I got dropped off I was hoping to get a ride home in your wheels but we can get yogurt on the way there"

"Sweet, you wanna come with Rose" I say turning to her.

"Nah I can't I gotta go shopping for a new bikini, me and Mason's 18th birthday party is this weekend. We're having a big pool party at our alpha's house. You should totally come Van" she says smiling.

"Yea it would be good for interpack relations" I say.

"Hmmm ok sounds like fun" he says with a sexy wolfish grin.

"um Rose I didn't get a chance to tell you earlier but you know how I told you I moved here to live with

my mom and her new husband"

"yea" she replies with a confused look.

"Well I'm guessing you know my mom, her name is Laine Jackson" I saw looking at her.

"huh? I thought your last name was Vaughn" she says.

"yea Mom's new married name is Mrs Laine Jackson, as in married to Ian Jackson as in your alpha"

She looks at me with wide eyes. I look around as the remaining students turn to stare at Levi suddenly. "so thats why Natalia said that to you at lunch today" she finally clicks.

"yup" I say popping the p.

"So your party is technically at my house on the weekend so that means you should totally come for a sleep over on Friday night" I grin.

"Nice....... will you guys be wearing cute little bras and panties and having pillow fights, because if thats the case then I'm totally in" Van says.

"I don't think so player" I laugh as I take off his jacket and put it in the car. "sorry Van its getting to hot"

"Ok Rose have fun shopping, want me to come and pick you up in the morning?" I ask.

"Sounds good, I'll grab your number and ill txt you the address" she says as she hands over her phone. I enter the number and pass it back to her.

"sweet well let's roll then Van. See you tomorrow Rose" I say as I walk around the car to get to the driver's side. As I go to get in I feel someone brush up against me. I notice Van squint his eyes as he glares as the person behind me.

"I'll see you when you get home Tia" Levi smiles at me with a heart breaking smile.

I jump into my car and start it up and pull out of the car park and drive towards Van's house, looking at him with a smile I realise he's tense and stiff as a board. "Van what's wrong?" I ask

"Tia pull over now" Van whispers.

I look at him confused and pull the car over.

"When you jumped into my arms I realised something was different. I didn't know what it was until a few moments ago"

I look at him with a worried look. "what is it?"

"Why the HELL can I smell Levi on you?" he growled with a deep rumble.

I look at him and see his normally green eyes now have a deep green glow which means only one thing. His wolf is trying to take control.

My heart drops............ CRAPPPPPP
