Saying goodbye to Van, promising to call him tonight I walked back into the meeting room. Mom, Ian and Levi where whispering and stopped the minute I walked in.

"You guys were totally talking about me" I exclaimed as I sat down next to Levi.

"We were just talking about the dynamics of this situation" Ian replied.

"Yea, this is the epitome of a dysfunctional family"

"No honey, we are talking about your new relationship with Levi, and the fact that you are sharing a pool house, we aren't sure it's particularly a good idea." Mom said looking between me and Levi.

Levi stood up quickly his eyes glowing. "With all due respect Laine, I will NOT be separated from her, now or after her birthday" Levi said looking at me possessively.

"What makes you so sure, you wolf will want her after her birthday son" Ian said raising an eyebrow.

"What makes you sure Laine was your mate, when you first saw her dad?" Levi said.

Ian just growled. I rolled my eyes, like father lie son I thought to myself.

"I knew from just looking at her with every fibre in my body" Ian growled looking into my moms eyes possessively. I saw mom blush and grab his hand. Ew ew ew again with the parental PDA - creeps me the hell out.

"Well that's how I feel about Tia, if not stronger because we don't have the mate bond yet, and I'm fighting with my wolf every minute I'm not around her. The only thing that eases it is being with her, which is why I will not allow her to leave the pool house" he says projecting his inner Alpha dominance.

Mom shivers slightly and leans into Ian as she feels it. "you might be challenging me as alpha sooner then you realise son with the way your alpha is fighting for control". Ian says.

"Not until I have my mate by my side dad"

"Right I have to start on the Sunday dinner, everyone you guys go wash up and come back around 5ish" Mom says brightly standing up.

"ok mom, we will see you soon" I say standing up. Levi wraps his arms around me as we walk towards the pool house.

"Can we talk" he whispers. I look up at him and nod looking concerned as I see the stress on his extremely good looking face. A face like that should never frown I thought to myself.

We walked into the pool house and we back into my room. I sat on the bed crossed legged like the night before. This time however Levi went into his room quickly then came back into my room and sat down next to me.

"What's wrong Levi? Your upset I can tell" I say looking at him.

He scrunches his face up and shakes his head. "I heard what Van said" he whispers.

My heart rate increases as my nerves surface.

"You did?"

"Yea and I have to admit, I didn't think he would play dirty straight off the bat" he said with a frown.

Looking at Levi his blond hair was scruffy from the fight. His muscles where tight with tension, which in all honesty caused them to bulk out making them look even better from where I was sitting. His sculptured jaw was straining as he bit down.

I stroked his cheek, and his expression softened as he looked into my eyes. "Levi, you have nothing to worry about" I said gently. "You don't have to make some grand deceleration of love to me, I will promise you I will not allow his love for me to affect my feelings towards you"

He looked into my eyes and I could see a shimmer of moisture in them. My heart nearly broke seeing that expression on his face. It looked so defeated and sad.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small silk bag.

"This has been in my family for years, it belonged to my grandmother who gave it to me being the eldest grandson" he said looking at me.

I opened it to find a beautiful silver chain with a smooth white crystal set in a silver setting.

"She told me that I was to give it to my mate when I found her. The white crystal represents the white wolf that runs through our family. Turn it around" he said to me gently.

On the back of the setting was an inscription. "Mates for eternity" is said in swirly writing.

I gasped at how beautiful it was. It was absolutely gorgeous.

He lifted it out of my hands and gently brushed my hair to the side. He placed it around my neck and clasped it together. The crystal fell perfectly down my neckline into the crevice of my breast.

I looked up at him to see him smiling a large smile. He looked so proud that I was wearing his family heirloom.

"This is beautiful" I whispered with tears in my eyes at the gesture.

"I may not be able to tell you I love you just yet" he said gently. "But when I do, and I WILL, it will be for eternity" he said looking deeply into my eyes. He leant forward and kissed me so softly that his lips felt like rose petals.

"I cant except this Levi, it's beautiful and I love it but I cant" I said, reaching up to unclasp it.

"No, princess I want you to have it, my wolf is demanding it actually"

"But my birthday..."

"I don't care" he interrupted. "You are my mate and it is yours" he said lifting my head with his fingers to stare into my eyes.

I could only nod as I stared back into his blue eyes, they looked like blue crystals, and I was falling for him harder and harder the more I stared at them.

"I was going to give it to you on your birthday, but I hate having secrets" he smiled cheekily.

"I will never take it off" I whisper with a smile. He smiled a gorgeous smile and kissed me again, this time it was deeper and more passionate. "Good, because it looks way to good sitting in that little crevice for you not to be wearing it" he said nodding towards my breasts.

"Perve" I chuckled.

"Come on, you go shower, and I'll clean up that spilt coffee" he said looking at the brown puddle on the tiles. "I wanna take you somewhere for an hour or so before dinner" he said with a cheeky look.

"Hmm I don't know if I trust that cheeky look Mr Jackson" I say laughing making my way to the bathroom.

"Like my father said you are smart and beautiful" he laughed walking to grab something to wipe up the coffee.

I popped my head out the bathroom door to see him mopping the floor. "You think I'm beautiful?" I said with a grin.

He stood there with the mop in hand looking like a cute house husband. "You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen" he said with a smile.

"Whoa, jewellery, cleaning and compliments" I laugh, "I love this side of you"

"Yea yea princess hurry up and get ready".

I dry myself off and see the weather is starting to get darker, quickly looking outside I see storm clouds rolling in the far distance. I put on a pair of black jeans on with silver fitted top. Tying my hair up into a messy bun on the top of my hair, I put on a pair of large silver hoops. Fixing my make up to look fresh and flirty I finish the look with my white flats.

My new necklace shines in the lights, looking at it I smile, it is exactly my style I think to myself. Grabbing my little leather jacket I grab my phone and head out the door. Walking into the lounge I find Levi sitting on the lounge flicking through the channels.

"WOW Tia you look amazing" he said standing instantly. I looked at him he was wearing a pair of dark low slung jeans and a long sleeved light blue fitted top. He looked so hot I was struggling not to stare. The colour of his top suited his eyes and hair so much that he looked like a model.

"Your looking extremly finnneeee too" I laugh looking at him. "Come on princess lets go." He says grabbing his keys and reaching out for my hand. My stomach bursts into butterflies at this small gesture. We are going to go out in public acting like a couple I realise.

I smile a small smile and reach out to him. His big hand makes mine look so tiny. He looks down at me as we walk to his car. "That necklace makes you look even more beautiful" he says gently.

"Thanks" I giggle.

We jump into his car and take off. "So where are we going?" I asked quickly.

"We my princess" he says grinning at me. "Are going to get coffee and I'm taking you to the carnival for a hour or two".

I laugh out loud. "Your seriously taking me a carnival"

"Yep, I'm gonna win you the biggest stuffed toy they have, I do have a magic arm being quarterback and everything" he says flexing his muscles pretending to be a show off.

"haha is that right"

"What if I beat you, are you gonna accept my big stuffed toy I win for you" I said raising an eyebrow.

"damm my mate is smart, sexy and competitive" he laughed.

"Damm right I'm competitive, I hate to lose, EVER" I say to him.

"Yea I noticed that, you did have to out do the girls at school with your comebacks, just part of your competitive side?" he said looking at me.

"Yea, that and my competitive b*tchy side" I laugh back at him. He just shakes his head at me as he concentrates on driving.

"Speaking of school, what are we gonna do tomorrow?" I ask looking at levi from the side. I see him frown and grip the steering wheel.

"Would you prefer to pretend like nothings happen?" I ask quietly.

"No Tia, that's not it at all" He said looking at me quickly while trying to keep his eyes on the road. " iwas frowning because I know half of the male population at school wants, you and 2 of them are my bloody two best friends. I don't know if I will be able to keep my wolf in check if I have to hear those to numskulls keep trying to get into your pants".

"We are just friends" I laugh shaking my head.

"yea but Mason has already hinted to us that he like likes you, and the fact that Liam offered you his football jersey tells me that he likes you more then a friend too". He growls.

I smile at him and reach over and place my hand on his leg. "In my eyes they are only friends. Would you feel better if I wore your varsity jacket this week?" I asked him. "although I want you to get it drycleaned after that chick was wearing it last week" I sad with a frown.

"Yea I would like that, but what I would really prefer is if you wore my varsity jacket and my champion ring" he said in a small voice.

"Ring?" I said looking at him.

"It's the ring we won last year for winning nationals. All the guys on the team who have girlfriends gives it to them as a promise ring. I would really like it if you wore mine" he said looking at me.

"Umm but what about the whole, not allowed to tell anyone about us thing" I said.

He grinned cheekly. "We wont have actually told anyone about us, you would just be wearing my jacket and ring"

"And necklace"

"Your sneaky rat, you thought of this from the start didn't you" I exclaimed punching him gently

"Nah I didn't but I'm glad I didn't, it would have looked calculated and weird" he said laughing pretending that my punch hurt.

We had a really good time at the carnival. I ended up coming home with a big stuffed white wolf. Clearly my arm wasn't as good as Levi but he had a good laugh watching me try and try and try to beat him.

By the time we got home the storm had crept closer to us and it had started to rain slightly.

We went inside just in time for dinner. Like last week mom had prepared a roast and we sat down as the dysfunctional family that we had turned into.

"So did you guys have a good time?" mom said after we told her where we had been.

"yea it was good" I smiled.

"By the way Levi, we got an email from your brother, he's coming home in two weeks" Ian smiled. But it wasn't his normal smile.

"Oh, ok" Levi said.

"oooh this is your older brother yea?" I asked, "Tell me about him, whats he like".

I saw Levi and Ian look at each other and then Ian nodded. "Nate isn't the most friendly person" Levi started. "Like we told you he's adopted, his real parents were rouges and were killed in one of the wolf wars back in the day, mom and dad adopted him when I was about 5 and he was 7. He has always been the adventurous type, leaving home at 15 and travelled the world. He spent a lot of time in Europe with another pack. We don't hear from him very often, but when we do its normally got to do with money, revenge or women" he said with a straight face.

"We haven't heard from him in a year or so, so we will find out what this visit is for" Levi grumbled.

"Oh ok, well hopefully he can stay a bit longer so I can get to know him a little more" I smile trying to stay positive.

"I'd prefer you stayed away from him" Levi said using his alpha tone. "He has always been a little jealous of me, if he see's how close we are he will go all out to ruin it" he says looking at me.

My eyes widen in shock as I look up at Ian. He nods a small nod. "umm ok,well will he be here for my birthday?" I ask

"we don't know how long he's staying" Ian said.

"okayyyy"

That was awkward and werid I thought to myself. Mom starts up a new conversation about some pack business but I zone out. Still thinking about my adopted step brother makes me wonder what he's gonna be like when he meets me.

After dinner we help mom tidy up and say our goodnights for the night. Making our way to the pool house I yawn a loud yawn and stretch my body like a cat. Walking into my room I get dressed into some warm pj's because the temperature has dropped due to the storm.

Levi walks in with an extra pillow in just a pair of boxes. "uhhh ahhhh buddy, no more sleep overs" I sad shaking my head.

"awww seriously?" he complained.

"Seriously" I reply.

"Please, one more night?"

"Nope, now come over here and give me a good night kiss im tired!" I say crossing my arms.

He walks over and plants a big kiss on my lips. "Goodnight princess" he says smiling down ay me. Damm he's hot, just let him in the bloody bed, the little voice in my head screams.

No No NO I have to be strong, otherwise he will expect it every night, the other half of me says, and its not fair on VAN.

I needed to call Van. As Levi shuts the door I grab my phone and call Van. "Hey Tia bear about time, I thought you had forgotten to call" he said in a relieved voice.

"Never" I smile into the phone. "I've been thinking of you all afternoon" he whispered. "do you think I could come over for a good night kiss?"

"Of course Van" I smile, "But ill meet you down at the driveway, I don't want you and Levi to have another fight" I say down the phone. "Ok see you soon Tia bear"

10 mins later im down the driveway with a umbrella. I had snuck out of my sliding door. Luckily the rain had picked up so it disguised the sound of me leaving.

Van turned up and I jumped into his warm car. "Hey" I say jumping in.

He doesn't even respond he just leans over and kisses me with a large sigh. "Hey" he whispers.

"goodnight then," I smile as I jump out of the car. "good night Tia bear, I love you" he says pulling away.

I walk back to my room with a smile on my lips. Climbing into my bed I slip into a sound sleep thinking about how tomorrow will work out with me rolling up to school wearing Levi's jacket, ring and necklace, which pretty much screams im sleeping with my step brother.... Oh great I moan to myself.
