Beads of Relieving Water

"Uh, Amaya what are we doing here?" Thomas asked nervously.

"Idiot, this is where we are going to get the beads."

"Beads?" He asked ignorant to her irritation.

Amaya sighed and ran her hand through her curly locks of hair. "I'm going to be stuck on Earth forever." She groaned.

Thomas blinked innocently.

"Forgive him Amaya, he is fairly new to the pirate business." Christopher shrugged meekly.

Amaya sent a hard look and pursed her lips. "Try to pay attention, I don't like repeating myself."

"Damn woman." Eduardo muttered.

After an hour or 2 of walking in the damp woods, they came across a clear lake.

"Do we have to search for the beads or what?" Russell asked impatiently.

"Shut up and wait." Amaya said kneeling at the lake.

The Pirates shifted in confusion as snow flakes fell and painted the town gently with white.

"Serena? Come out." She called, the pirates exchanged looks, trying to decipher if the spirit had finally lost it.

A ripple appeared in the middle of the frozen lake and much to the surprise, or joy in Morgan's case, a woman swam to the surface, the light ice sheen covering the top melting away across the lake.

Her seaweed hair fell past her waist as her Emerald eyes scanned the group.

A smile of mischief appeared on the young woman's face.

"Oooh! Amaya came back! I missed you so! What has it been? 13 years?" The mystery girl, who they assumed was Serena, giggled playfully.

Amaya's face never changed. "Enough Serena, you know what I'm here for."

"Aww Maya," Serena pouted playfully, "why don't you ever greet me with a smile like you used to! You were so hopeful! It was adorable!" Serena giggled and swam closer to Amaya, revealing a tail in place of her legs.

"What the-" Morgan blinked.

"Serena is a water nymph." Amaya answered irritably.

"She knew you back then?" Thomas asked curiously.

"Cutie, Maya and I have known each other for thousands of years." Serena drawled.

"Serena enough. You know what I'm here for." Amaya snapped.

"But that doesn't make it any fuuuun!" Serena cried, "I know! I'll send you on a quest to get me something!"

"I rather not, there are still plenty more things I have to get." Amaya creased her eyebrows and spoke with obvious frustration.

Serena giggled and swam in circles. "Life is suuuuuch a bore here. Get me something to pass my time for the next decade." Amaya glowered angrily.

"Come back when you have something fun!" The nymph waved happily.

"What the hell would a water nymph want?" Russell asked irritably.

"Well considering she's an IDIOT! She would want something simple." Amaya made sure to say 'idiot' loud enough for Serena, who let out an indignant snort, to hear.

The Pirates and spirit traveled back to town and across the market place.

"Maybe a children's toy?" Christopher asked, eyeing the market place.

Amaya shook her head, black curls tickling her cheeks. That is, it would if she felt it.

"No, I know exactly what to give her." Amaya said coldly, her hand reaching into her pocket and picking out a box.

"What's that?" Thomas asked curiously.

"A music box. It holds nicknacks, jewelry, anything small enough to fit inside. It plays music when you open it. An enchanter gave it to me for helping him find ingredients for a concoction he was brewing." She shrugged.

"Why didn't you just give it to her back there!" Eduardo yelled.

"Because if it made it seem like it was no trouble she would only send us on another 'quest'." Amaya stared at him as if it was an obvious solution.

"Anyway I'm going to give it to her. Wait on the ship or follow. Your choice." She shrugged and walked back into the snowy forest.

Everyone followed with no hesitation. It wasn't everyday you met a water nymph after all.

"Hurray! You're back! I missed you Amaya!" Serena squealed happily as snowflakes landed gently in her hair.

Amaya ignored her thrusting out the small rock box. It was made completely of marble and it had natural swirls of dark grey in the off white.

Serena's eyes traced the box and looked up curiously.

She took the box and slowly opened it. A soft sweet melody playing. *start song now*

Serena blinked and studied the box in surprise. "It's playing music!" She stated in awe.

"Yes, yes. Now give us the beads."

Serena gave the beads that seemed to hold water inside *picture*.

"See you soon Amaya," Serena said smiling coldly at the Pirates, "I wonder how long these will last? Poor, poor Amaya." She giggled cruelly as the Pirates stared at her in shock as Amaya only looked tired and grim.

"All you want to do is die," Serena looked at her with sympathy, "I wonder how much longer until your mind snaps and you break?" She giggled and dived back into the lake with the music box. A sheen of ice once again turning it completely frozen.

Thomas, Christopher, and Morgan looked at her concern etched on their features. Nathan, Eduardo, and Russell were still staring at where the nymph was.

"Are you o-" Thomas started but was interrupted when Amaya turned on her heel.

"Don't relax. We still have a lot more protection items to collect." She said in a stony tone.

The walk back to the ship was silent. Amaya couldn't say a word.

That retched water nymph was right.

How much longer until her mind snapped and she utterly broke?

Amaya wasn't sure she wanted to know. She was once again reminded of her complete hatred of the Gods.

I thought the song was fitting. If you study the lyrics it describes Amaya's situation pretty well.

Anywho I keep forgetting to do this.
