Chapter 14

After what felt like an eternity, there was a knock at the door. A nurse walked in.

"I am so sorry for the delay. Ready to find out the gender of your twins?" Blaine and Kurt nodded. Dr. Wilson helped Kurt off the bed. They walked to another room. Blaine helped Kurt on to the bed. Kurt lifted his shirt. The nurse grabbed a bottle of gel.

"This will be a little cold." She squeezed some gel onto Kurt's stomach. She then grabbed the wand and began to move it around on Kurt's stomach. After a moment, Kurt and Blane heard two heartbeats. They bot smiled and Blaine kissed Kurt's hand. "It looks like Baby A is a boy and Baby B is a girl. They are both developing well." The nurse turned off the machine and wiped off Kurt's stomach. Blaine helped Kurt off the bed, and they walked back to the room." Dr. Wilson walked in a few minutes later. She sat down and said,

It looks like you have a boy and a girl, congratulations." Blaine then asked,

"Do we need to go ahead and schedule the c-section, or do we wait?"

"We can go ahead and do it today if you want its' up to you." Blaine looked at Kurt who said,

"Can we go ahead and do it now that way we don't run into a problem later?" Dr Wilson smiled and said,

"Of course. Let me pull up my calendar. You are 5 month and 2 weeks. 3 months and two weeks put us at the beginning of May. How about we schedule it for the first week of May on the 4th." Kurt and Blaine nodded. They left the office and went home. The next morning was crazy as Blaine overslept. Blaine hated being late. He drove a little faster than normal. They arrived at Carmel and Blaine parked. They went in and the rest of the Warblers were warmed up and ready to go. Vocal Adrenaline went first. Dalton went second and McKinley went last. The judges went to deliberate. The Warblers got a chair for Kurt. All three groups waited patiently. After 10 minutes, the judges arrived at their decision. The Mc called all the performers to the stage.

"In third place from McKinley High school, the New Directions. Now the winner by one point, the Dalton Academy Warblers. Everyone cheered. Blaine went and grabbed the trophy. The Warblers were ecstatic. They decided to go get lunch at Breadsticks to celebrate. Once everyone had gotten their drinks, Blaine stood up and said,

"I want to start off by saying how proud of all the hard work each and everyone of you these last two months. I know rehearsing every single day is exhausting but your hard work paid off. To the Warblers!" He sat down and Jeff said,

"How much longer are you guys to make us wait before you tell us what you guys are having?" Kurt looked at Blaine and Blaine nodded. Kurt then said,

"We are having a boy and a girl. My c-section is scheduled for May 4th. I will miss the last month of school. I am going to talk to Mr. Turner on Monday to let him know. I am hoping to be able to walk at graduation." Wes then said,

"Have you guys decided on names yet?" Blaine nodded and said,

"We decided on Paige Elisabeth after Kurt's mom and James Dalton after my grandfather." The Warblers finished eating and left. Monday morning arrived and went straight to Mr. Turner's office when he arrived. They came up with a plan so that Kurt would still be able to complete his schoolwork needed to graduate. He would either do the assignments early or have Blaine turn them in. Mr. Turner emailed all of Kurt's teacher to let them know of the plan and what was going on. All of them were willing to work with Kurt. The Warblers took a two week break before diving into rehearsals for Nationals. This year Nationals was in New York. Kurt was very excited. He had always wanted to go to New York. The week of Nationals arrived too fast for everyone. On Sunday, the Warblers flew to New York. On the plane, Blaine introduced to a musical called A Very Potter Musical. Kurt loved it as he was a huge Harry Potter fan. Once they arrived, they took a bus to the hotel. They stayed at a beautiful hotel that had been in Blaine's family for decades. His grandfather had passed it down to his dad when he died. They were all staying on the top floor in the presidential suite. It had 6 rooms and 6 bathrooms. Everyone slept in the next morning. At brunch, Blaine surprised everyone with to see Wicked on Broadway. Everyone was super excited especially Kurt. He had always dreamed of seeing Wicked on Broadway. After the show everyone spit up. Kurt and Blaine went for a walk in Central Park. The park was lit and there was a nice breeze. When they reached Bethesda Fountain, (the fountain at the center of the park) Kurt was awestruck. They sat by the water just taking in the beauty of it. Blaine got way too much enjoyment out of watching Kurt's reactions. As the sun set, Kurt and Blaine walked back to the hotel. The next morning after breakfast, the Warblers decided to be tourists and go sightseeing. They went to the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the 9-11 Memorial and ran around Time Square. Blaine played the tour guide was he bad been here lots of times. Kurt then found FOA Schwarz Toy Store. He spent way too much time in there. He felt bad when Blaine bought just about everything he touched. When they arrived back at the hotel, Blaine walked up to the front desk and rang the bell. When a clerk arrived, Blaine said,

"If you would so kind as to ship this home for me, I would greatly appreciate it." The clerk nodded and said,

"Yes, Mr. Anderson right away." Blaine passed him the bags. Kurt decided to lay down for a little bit has his feet were hurting. Blaine grabbed some lotion and messaged Kurt's feet for him. Everyone met up for dinner and Blaine gave them an overview of the next few days.

"I hope that everyone is enjoying their time here. The competition is in 4 days. We don't get access to the venue until Thursday at 1 pm. I would like to get some practice in the next two days. We need to work on our blocking and transitions. I think the best place for this is going to be Central Park. There is plenty of space there and lots of people to enjoy it. The song choices were Animals, Soul Sister, and Live While Were Young. After dinner, they spent two hours at the pool. Everyone returned to the room, showered, and settled in for the night. The next morning, they met in the lobby for breakfast. Once everyone had gotten something to eat, they walked to Central Park. They practiced for about two hours before taking a break. The afternoon was spent playing tourists again. After dinner, Blaine texted everyone saying, 'meet me in the park.' They rehearsed for another hour. Wednesday was the same. Thursday morning, they rehearsed again in the park. After lunch, the met up outside the concert venue. They practiced inside for a solid three hours before getting kicked out. Once they got back to the hotel, most of the Warblers crashed including Kurt. The next morning, after breakfast, the Warblers went back to the concert hall. They were competing against 14 other glee clubs from around the country. They were excited and nervous especially Kurt. Clark, Myriam, Hunter and Sebastian had flown in the night before to see the competition. The warblers were dead last. The people in charge decided to go in order alphabetical by group name. The Warblers were upset, they figured they didn't have a chance. The judges would have seen 14 other groups by the time they got to perform. Blaine then had an idea. He shared it with the group. Wes and David agreed and se the plan in motion. When it was their turn, Nick and Jeff came down the center aisle while everyone else was waiting on stage. During Live While Were Young, Wes and David sang lead while Nick, Jeff and a few other Warblers did some tricks. Blaine watched the judges' faces from the side of the stage. All three judges were tapping their feet to the beat. Blaine hoped it would be enough. The Warblers finished and everyone stood up and cheered. The judges stood up and went to deliberate. All 15 groups waited patiently. An hour later, the judges finally came back to the auditorium. The head judge handed the envelope to the mc with the results.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, it is time to announce the teams in order starting with 15th place. Since we cannot fit 15 teams on the stage, I would like to have the coaches and captains only please join me on stage." Blaine and Wes joined the other coaches and captains on stage. The mc then continued, "Now when I call your group please come forward and get your ribbon. The top three teams will get a trophy." One by one each group was called and left the stage. Then there were only three teams left. Blaine and Wes looked at each other. They had made it to the top three. 3rd place was called. The Warblers were either 1st or 2nd. The mc then said, "If I can first get a round of applause for all our teams that competed today. Then if the I can get the teams of our top two to please join me on stage. The two teams quickly joined their coaches and captains on stage. Myriam ran quickly to the bathroom where she happens to overhear and interesting conversation. 2 of the mothers of the team that was on stage with the Warblers talking about how it was not surprising they were still in the running for first and how allowing two recent graduates to join sing with them was going to ensure that they won first. Myriam quickly finished up and ran back to the auditorium. "These teams both did an amazing job. They both deserve first place, but only one can win. The team that will be taking home the first-place trophy only won by half a point is..." Myriam ran to the judges table and told them what she had just heard. The judges stood up and motioned to the mc. He walked over and knelt. The head judge whispered something in his ear. He nodded then said, I need both coaches to follow me." The mc, all three judges, and the two coaches walked into the hallway. Once they were out of earshot, the head judge turned to the other teams coach and said,

"I just had a women come up to me and tell me about a conversation she heard on the bathroom." The coach looked at him but didn't say a word. The judge continued, "Do you have two singers that competed today that graduated last year?" The coach swallowed and said,

"Yes, I was hoping that no one would find out." The judge then said,

"Are they currently enrolled at your school and taking classes?" The coach shook his head. The judge then said,

"As this is a high school competition, I have not choice to disqualify your team from the competition. We need to get the 3rd and 4th place teams back on stage to give them the 2nd and 3rd place trophies." The Mc nodded. The judge then said to the other coach, "Please get your team and go have a seat." Blaine just stood there listening in shock. The Warblers had just won Nationals. The group walked back into the auditorium. The mc and Blaine walked back on the stage. The mc then said,

"If I can please get the Songbirds and the Snazzy Jazzy Harmonizers back on stage please. Due to recent events that have be brought to light, the Might Mountain Vocal Singers have been disqualified. This means the Snazzy Jazzy Harmonizers came in third and the Songbirds came in second." The Warblers figured out things together. "Now let's give a huge round of applause to our National Champions from Westerville, Ohio the Dalton Academy Warblers." Everyone cheered. Blaine walked up and grabbed the trophy. Everyone was so excited. With all the excitement and lack of water, Kurt got extremely dizzy and collapsed. Jeff caught him before his head hit the stage. Wes grabbed the trophy as Blaine shoved it at him. He got down next to Kurt and checked for a pulse. There was not one. David pulled out his phone and called 911 while Blaine began CPR. Just as the paramedics ran into the auditorium, Kurt got a pulse. The paramedics ran on stage and Blaine stood up saying,

"18-Year-old male, 7 months pregnant with twins, asthmatic pulse just returned, no pulse for about 10 minutes." Clark made it to the stage by this point. He gave Blaine a hug and put his arm around him while the paramedics worked on Kurt. They got an IV started and put him on oxygen. They also got him on a heart monitor. He was put on a stretcher and wheeled to the ambulance. Blaine climbed into the back and took Kurt's hand. Clark asked,

"Where are you taking him?"

"New York General." Clark nodded. He turned back to the Warblers and said,

"You guys head back to the hotel. Wes here is some money for pizza. We will update you when we know more." The Warblers nodded. They ordered pizza and watched TV while waiting for an update. The ambulance arrived at the hospital and Kurt was wheeled to the back. They got him transferred to a bed and on fluids. Blaine was pacing in the waiting room when Clark arrived. They went to the desk and asked about Kurt. They were told where he was. When they arrived at the room the nurse giving him meds and she said,

"And you would be?"

"I am his father in-law, and this is my son, his husband." Blaine then asked,

"How is he?"

"He is stable. I just gave him some medication to raise his blood pressure as it was very low."

"How are the twins?" The nurse just looked at him with a look of confusion.

"What twins?"

"He is 7 months pregnant with twins. How can you not realize that just by looking at him?" Blaine asked very concerned. The nurse left the room and returned a few minutes later with a portable ultrasound machine and a doctor. The doctor lifted Kurt's shirt. He put some gel on his stomach. He then took the wand and began to move it around on Kurt's stomach. After a moment, Blaine and Clark heard two heart beats. They both let out a sigh of relief. Kurt began to stir. The doctor wiped off Kurt's stomach. And listened to his heart and lungs. Kurt opened his eyes. Blaine grabbed Kurt's hand and kissed it.

"Hey how are you feeling?"

"I am not as dizzy. I think I just got dehydrated. I am feeling a little better. Are the twins, okay?" Blaine smiled and said,

"The twins are just fine." The doctor then said,

"I would like to keep him overnight just for observation." Blaine nodded. Clark then said,

"Kurt I am glad that you are okay. Blaine, please keep me updated. Myriam and I have a flight to catch. I have a big presentation tomorrow morning. We will see you guys on Sunday." He hugged Blaine and left. Blaine pulled out his phone and called Wes.

W: Hey Blaine how is Kurt?
B: He is good. The doctor wants to keep him overnight for observations. Are you guys okay?

W: Yes, we are.

B: Let me know if you guys need anything.

W: We will be fine, Blaine. You focus on Kurt don't worry about us.

The night dragged on. The next morning, a nurse came in and checked his vitals. She left and came back an hour later with Kurt's discharge papers. As they were getting in a cab, Wes called.

B: Hey Wes. We are leaving the hospital now. We will meet you guys at the airport. We just need to grab our stuff.

W: We have your stuff just meet us at the airport.

B: Awe you guys are awesome we will meet there.

Blaine told the driver to take them to the airport. Upon arrival, Blaine and Kurt saw the rest of the Warblers waiting for them. David was standing next to a wheelchair. Nick opened the door for Kurt and helped him out. He helped him to the wheelchair and said,

"Your chariot waits!" Everyone laughed. After an hour delay, the Warblers were on their way home. Kurt looked out the window as the New York City skyline disappeared below the clouds. He turned to Blaine and said,

"Thank you for a great trip to New York."

"You're welcome." Kurt put his head on Blaine's shoulder and fell asleep.
