Chapter 1: Bye Bye Busan

Jimin's POV:

I stared out of the tinted window watching the sea splashing up against the sand. I'm going to miss you Busan but we have no choice but to leave. Dad lost his job and all of the ones here are taken, so we must move to Seoul for more opportunities. At least that's what mom told me. I stare out at the ocean a few moments more before I felt myself drifting to sleep. Although I was unable to fall completely unconscious due to my dads booming voice yelling my name and making me jolt up again. I looked up to see him and my mom chuckling.

"I'm sorry Chim. Did I scare you?" He asked stifling back a laugh.

"Ha ha very funny Appa. Where are we?" I looked out the window no longer seeing the water.

"Only 45 minutes away from Seoul." He smiled at me through the review mirror, but then he looked over to mom and they nodded in unison as if they were nonverbally agreeing on something. "Also Jimin.. there's something we want to tell you."

"What is it?" I asked and they both looked at each other again nudging for the other to speak. I wondered what could be so bad that neither of them wanted to tell me. Mom finally nudged dad in the ribs causing him to let out a groan of surrender.

"Uh Jimin-ah.. umm.. uh your mom has to tell you something." He said very quickly earning a glare from mom.

"Fine. Jimin baby.. Y-You're going to.. school." The whole car was silent for a moment until I let out a loud..

"Yes! Finally! Thank you thank you thank you. I can't wait!" You might be wandering why I'm so excited. Well it's mainly because I've been homeschooled all of my life. My mom and dad thought it was best for me, but I've always wanted to go to school and make friends. Although I love being around them, I don't think my parents should be my only friends anymore. This is why I'm so happy to have this opportunity to explore the world outside of my house and meet new people.

"Wait a minute Jimin. You didn't let me finish. It's a prestigious boarding school. A friend of mine is the president of the parent board there. I explained our situation to her and she was able to convince the board to let you in."

"Wait I'm confused. What are you saying?"

"We're saying that as hard as it's going to be for us, we're going to let you stay there. You'll get a free room, a free meal, and a free education. It's a wonderful deal and with everything going on right now, we think you being there is for the best, just until you're father can find another job to support us. After that, if you don't like the school, we'll pull you out."

"So if I go to this boarding school, I won't get to see you anymore?" I questioned sadly. I do want to go to school, but I don't want to be all alone and completely away from my parents. I've never been away from them longer than a week.

"No don't be silly Jimin. You'll get to see us on holidays." Dad chuckled.

"And where will you guys go?" I asked curiously.

"That same friend I mentioned earlier is going to let us stay with her and her husband in their mansion." She squealed with a large grin. "But we'll only be there until we can find a place of our own."

"Well that's awfully generous of them." I said trying to sound happy. I guess I could try this boarding school thing. I mean I was hoping to start off a little smaller like just a regular public school or at least something where I can come home and talk to my parents about my day.

"It surely is. That is why we should show our gratitude to them as soon as we get there." I just nodded in response. I stared back out the window for the rest of the drive. Pretty soon we were in front of a large iron gate that was about 12 feet tall. Surrounding it was a large beige wall covered with fresh green climbing plants. My dad pulled in some more until he was next to a little buzzer.

"Honey, What was the code again?"

"81616." He entered the code then suddenly the large gates creaked open revealing a huge mansion.
(Only the real ones will know what that code is 😏)

"Wow! It's so beautiful. I'm so jealous that you guys get to stay here." I pouted.

"I know it's wonderful right." My mom cheered.

"I can't wait to see the inside." My dad added.

When we got out of the car, we saw a couple of men and women dressed like servants. One of the men took the key to our car to go park it somewhere. At least I hope.

"Welcome Mr. and Mrs. Park. We've been expecting your arrival. Master Kim and Madam Kim are waiting inside." One of the butler looking guys directed us into the foyer.

As expected, the inside was just as beautiful as the outside. Standing at the top of the staircase, we saw a man in an all black suit with a patterned black and gold tie and a woman in a vibrant red cocktail dress. They looked like a million bucks, but that would make sense since they're probably worth that much if not more.

"Hello Park family. My wife has told me so much about you. The troubles you are facing now are just minor set backs. We promise to lend our home to you for as long as you need it." The man in the suit spoke as he and his wife traveled down the stairs.

"Thank you so much again for your generosity. We don't know how we could ever repay you." My mom replied on our behalf.

"No need. And this must be your lovely son Jimin." The lady in the red dress said as she walked over to me. She carefully examined all of my features. "He's quite beautiful isn't he?" I blushed at the compliment. Then suddenly she pulled me into a hug. It shocked me at first but I eventually returned the gesture since I didn't want to be rude.

"T-thank you." I mumbled shyly as she let go.

"Our butler, Beomjun will get your bags and our maid Soomin will so you to your rooms. Once you get settled in we'll have dinner." Mrs. Kim finished. As soon as she did a maid, Soomin I'm guessing, motioned is to follow her. She gave us a mini tour of the residence before showing us to our rooms. Every part of this house was amazing. From the marble floors to the fine art on the walls. Soon Soomin stop in front of a door.

"Mr. and Mrs. Park, here is your room. At the end of this hall is the master and madam's bedroom and the room across from you is another guess room. If you ever need anything, just press the little black button beside the light switch. Someone will be with you shortly after that. Get ready for dinner and do worry about unpacking as it will be done for you."

"Wow thank you Soomin. We really appreciate it." Soomin looked a bit taken back.

"D-Don't thank me. It's my job." She smiled weakly. "Come on Jimin-ssi. I'll show you to your room." I followed Soomin all the way to a different hallway on the other side of the house. Unlike my parent's hall, this hall only had two doors right across from each other. Soomin took me to the door on the right. "This is where you'll stay for tonight and holidays Jimin-ssi."

I internally scream. My old room was a garbage can compared to this. I'm starting to run out of words describe this place. I'm speechless. Soomin pulled me out of my awe as she continued speaking.

"Our apologies if it may look a little girly. It's just that it belonged to the Master and Madam's daughter."

"Oh well where is she now? I don't want her to be upset if I use her room."

"Trust me she wouldn't be. She was such a kind, selfless soul. I bet she'd even sleep on the floor for you to have a bed."

"What do you mean was?" I furrowed my brow in confusion.

"Unfortunately she passed away 5 years ago. She was only 10 when the horrible accident happened. Please don't tell anyone that I told you and please don't ever bring it up. This family is still having a hard time dealing with the lost that they don't ever mention her. They also get really upset if someone even brings her up."

"Yes I understand." That seems so terrible. I couldn't even imagine losing someone so close to me like that. I started feeling a little weird about staying in this room. Almost as if I was intruding. "Is it possible for me to maybe choose another room?"

"There are about 9 other bedrooms, but the Master and Mrs.'s specifically instructed me to give you this one. I'm not sure if they realized who's room it was when they did, but due to the circumstances I've stated before I couldn't really remind them."

"It's ok I understand. I guess I'll just try to make myself comfortable." I smiled and she smiled back.

"One more thing before I go. Do not go into that room across from yours. That is young master's room and he gets very upset when people enter without his permission. He's not here right now, but trust me, he'll know if you do."

"Umm ok." Who is the young master I wondered, and why does he sound scary? After that she left and I looked around the room some more. I hate that she told me the story about the dead girl because now the place seems creepy. Luckily I won't be staying long. I looked around a bit more and I came across a picture of a little girl on one of the dressers. I guess this was the girl mentioned before.

As I stared a the photo, I started feeling weird. The girl seems familiar to me although I'm positive I've never seen her in my life. What's even weirder is that she kinda looks like me. I didn't realize how long I was staring at it until someone knocked on the door startling me. I quickly put the picture away and opened the door. Soomin was back.

"Dinner is ready." She smiled.

"Ok I'll be there in a second." I smiled back before closing the door. My mind went back to the girl. I just couldn't shake that feeling of familiarity. It's probably just all in my head, but somethings telling me it isn't.
