You weren't exactly against dances or anything. Nor did you particularly care if you had to wear a dress or skirt or suit or whatever but, didn't it seem odd that an all-girls high school was having a school dance in the first place? I suppose it's normal, but it just seemed...off to you.

Not that you were complaining particularly, but you were just a little more than suspicious at the director's, Mari's, decisions. After all, she's more perceptive and mysterious than she initially seems. You're certain there was a reason for this.

Whatever reservations you have, being associated with Aqours, even as just an extra pair of hands when they need it, means that attendance was mandatory for you according to both Mari, You, and Chika. Which brings you to your current predicament here in the student council room.

"...I'm sorry, you want to what?"

Or well, your first hurdle at least.

"I-I want to take your sister to the dance. Like, formally take her...like, y-you know..."

Dia stares what feels like daggers at you and you involuntarily gulp. Maybe you should've just asked Ruby instead of asking permission from her sister. Then again it felt impolite not to at least tell the elder Kurosawa since you knew her as well.

"(Y/n)-san."

"M-m-ma'am?!" Your instant nervous reply brought an amused smirk to her face.

"I appreciate you informing me of your intentions. However," the smirk falls from her face as she hardens her voice and glares at you, "you are aware that I care very much about Ruby. So, if you make her cry, or have a bad time, or even so much as think of doing anything wrong to her, I swear by my family name I will hunt you down."

You pale at the thought of the fearsome student council president coming for you in cold blood. You may think she's a dork, but you know she's serious. And she's terrifying when she's serious.

"Am I clear?"

"V-very much s-s-so, council, president, ma'am!"

You hear both Kanan and Mari snickering behind you. They happened to both be in the student council room helping Dia out when you burst in asking for the green eyed girl's permission, so you had no choice but to continue in their presence.

In hindsight, maybe you shouldn't blurt out your business before even entering a room. You let Dia's words sink in before coming to a realization.

"Wait, so, you're okay with me taking Ruby to the dance?"

She looks at you somewhat confused, "Is there some reason for me not to be?"

"A-ah, no, I was just surprised, I guess. Uh, th-thank you." She nods curtly at you.

"No need to thank me. However, have you already talked to Ruby?"

"Um, not yet..."

She raises an eyebrow, "Shouldn't you go talk to her now, then?"

"R-right. If you'll excuse me..."

You quickly bow and swiftly make your way out of the room. You stand outside for a second before timidly opening the door again and sticking your head in.

"She's with Hanamaru in the library~" You hear Mari call out, a cat-like smirk on her face.

You mumble a thanks as you close the door, not surprised that Mari knew what you wanted to ask before even uttering a sound.

You sigh and begin to fast walk to the library, anxiety blossoming in your chest.

You step into the library since the door was already open. You glance around and walk deeper inside, taking in the silence. Mari said they'd be here but you don't see, or hear, anyone.

You move your hair out of your face. Was Mari just joking with you again?

You hear some shuffling from the door so you make your way back there to find Ruby at the door.

"(Y-y/n)-chan?" She walks in and stops before you. "Do you need help with anything? I can go get Maru-chan. She just went to the bathroom real quick."

"Ah, no it's fine. I was looking for you, actually."

She tilts her head in question. You stare at her and feel the words dry up in your throat. She's way too cute for you to handle right now so how're you suppose to even get a sound out?!

"U-uh, (Y/n)-chan? ...Are you okay?"

You open your mouth only to close it again. You swear talking has never been this hard. You close your eyes and take a deep breath.

"W-w-will you, um...would you like t-to go to the dance with me?" You fidget, making note of her reaction, "You know...like formally, l-like a d-d-d-date."

The second you said those words her face explodes in a deep shade of red. Her hair and face are practically one and the same right now.

"U-u-u-u-uh, I-I, um..." she avoids your gaze as she continues quietly, "I w-would like to go with y-y-y-you, b-but um, onee-chan..."

You shyly rub the back of your head with one hand, "Actually, uh, I just asked her for permission before looking for you..."

If at all possibly you see Ruby's face grow an even darker shade of red. She also desperately looks like she's on the verge of crying.

"Wh-wh-what did she say...?"

You smile at her, a light blush dusting your features, "She said it was okay."

Your shorter companion suddenly lunges at you causing the both of you to topple over.

"I'm so glad! Ruby would really love to go with you, (Y/n)-chan!" Her arms are wrapped around you in a warm embrace, and you can't help but blush at both her proximity and the positions you both ended up in.

"Uh, Ruby...this is kinda..." Seeming to realize what she's doing, the red head practically jumps off of you.

"A-ah, sorry, (Y/n)-chan."

"It's fine," you stand and face the girl you've been crushing on for several months, "so I'll pick you up at the school gates then?"

If you had to describe how you were feeling right now in one word, you don't think the word 'nervous' could fully cover all your emotions. Neither could 'anxious' or 'excited'.

You were standing in front of the school's gates waiting for the Kurosawa sisters to show up. You couldn't help but fidget in place as other students attending the dance walked pass you.

You ended up wearing a (dress/suit) that you thought hugged your figure pretty nicely.

"Waiting for your date, (Y/n)?"

"Date? (Y/n)-chan has a date?" You swear that was Mari and Chika you just heard.

You turn around to see all of the members of Aqours except the two green eyed sisters.

"Ah! Is it Ruby, zura?" You flush and avoid looking at at of them.

Kanan chuckles, "Well that reaction answers your question, doesn't it?"

"Oh? I think I see them coming!" You-chan excitedly points in their direction, as your eyes follow her gaze. While you can't deny that Dia looked great, you couldn't tear your eyes away from Ruby.

They stop before you as you continue to admire the adorable faded pink dress she had on. Her usual pigtails were nowhere to be found since she decided to let her hair flow freely tonight.

The younger girl fidgets before you and you unconsciously mumble out, "So pretty..." Much your horror.

She makes a surprised noise and puts her hands in front of her red face. "T-th-thank you, (Y/n)-chan."

You look away and rub the back of your head. You swear with how cute she is one day you'll just nose bleed to death.

"We should head inside and give them some privacy." Riko gestures for the others to make their way into the school.

Dia affectionately pets her sister's head before giving you a hard stare. You tense up but she eventually smiles at you and even lays a hand on your shoulder as she walks by.

Now alone, you glance at the girl you fell for.

"(Y/n)-chan, um..."

You softly move closer to her and gently take her hands. She looks at you as she lightly blushes, her hands lightly squeezing yours.

"Ruby..." Unsure, you look into her eyes, searching. Hoping that the strength and resolve she has inside her could maybe rub off on you at least for just this on time. "After this...After tonight...Would you, will you, be my girlfriend?"

Since you have a hold on both of her hands, Ruby decides to hide her blushing face by moving closer and burying her face on your shoulder.

"...I-If you're fine wi-with Ruby, then..." She mumbles out.

You let go of her hands and wrap your arms around her body, pulling her closer.

"You're more than fine. I fell for you after all."

You feel her bury her head deeper as you chuckle and kiss her on top of her head.

A/N: I put the last section of this chapter in last minute because ending it where you ask if you pick her up at the school gates seemed unsatisfying to me. That also means this must have a bunch of errors 'cause I didn't proof read. Also, now I did't get any college work done so I'm screwed. But that's okay~ Hope this was an enjoyable read!!
